I started the day, as usual, took a bath, then ate with Ki'rai in the cafeteria. She seemed to really enjoy her new life, and people around her really liked her company.
I still didn't tell her what I did to Xuvi, mainly because I was afraid of her reaction, so I decided to put it away for later, hopefully never.
We cleared both the graveyard and lizardfolk settlement in around six hours of work. Then we sold the score. Mine was worth 6 013 800 points.
After a short break, I picked up the anchor left in the alley, then shadow walked to the on at the edge of the swamps, and also took it back. I needed to collect those but couldn't make myself pick the one left close to Xuvi base.
With that out of my mind, I traveled to the ogre cave, and made my way underground killing everything alongside, and making my shadows pick up the stones while following me. They had a really difficult time because I was rushing to get deeper and deeper underground.
The tunnels were pretty long, and constantly descending slower, but with my mind filled with knowledge bout them, it was easy to find the right path. Still, it took me almost three hours to make it there.
At the end, I found a gigantic underground cave. It was gargantuan, unbelievably massive. The ceiling was around two hundred meters above the floor.
There was a whole city hidden there. With defensive walls, gates, and others. I could see all that because of fires burning in watchtowers spread all around. The buildings were mainly simple homes for seemingly intelligent ogres. Because as we all know they have layers. If you peel enough of them you might find even intelligence.
All the roofs were tilted, covered with dark tiles. Similar to what I saw at Nobuos place. The constructions were mainly made of wood, but sometimes also with stone and bricks. In the middle was a high tower, slim and black as night. The home of the boss.
I had information about three types of those creatures there. Ogre soldiers, very strong individuals armed with weapons. Ogre mages equipped with cold magic, and finally ogre champions. Each one as strong as the ten red orcs, and also very skilled with their weapons. Ironically, also pudaos like mine. Those also had strong regenerative abilities and could use Ki to strengthen their blades and bodies.
Overall comparable in the trouble scale to the orc boss. Not as strong, but definitely living in the same universe. Fortunately, there were only a few of them.
According to my knowledge, there were between two to three thousand creatures living there. Wich was making this spot unbelievably profitable if I would be able to clear it.
I waited at first for my shadows to catch up, then gave them an order to stay for now and watch over the backpacks.
Then I fixed the grip on my weapon and started walking towards the gate. After a few minutes of marching, a cloud of flaming arrows went my way, arching through the sky. I shadow walked out of the way. Those wouldn't hurt me anyway, but I didn't want to get my clothes ruined.
Shortly after another flaming object came flying. This time a large, almost two meters long, bolt. That I needed to dodge, just for survival's sake, but with my speed and the fact it was very visible in the surrounding darkness, I could do that effortlessly by just stepping aside.
One thing I had to give those ogre assholes. They were really damn good at aiming.
More things came flying my way, and drums started signalizing an alarm. It was a steady rumble. Dum, dum, dum. I can remember it very clearly even now.
At his point, I stopped just walking and started running, as there were still around sixty meters between me and the gate. I got to it rather quickly, and shadow walked past it to find myself among an unpleasant company of several dozen armed soldiers.
Few of them screamed, and everybody started swinging. Unfortunately for them, I was faster and stronger, not to mention the ability to reposition if overwhelmed very swiftly with shadow walking. I dealt with them in a minute and had to climb on the walls as the archers became annoying little assholes, constantly shooting those damn arrows. Like half of their city wasn't made out of wood, and couldn't burn.
I killed them quickly, to prevent the fire, and then jumped down, to go deeper, into the city. Nothing inside was on fire - yet. This made me smile a bit, as I really didn't want to have to run away or get smoked while picking up crystals.
The main road was rather wide and led to another gate with an inner district behind it, but there were still plenty of ogres in the outer district, so I turned left and kept walking for a moment through an alley, between the buildings. Those were very similar to what I saw at Nobuo's place.
I had this urge to get inside and check if it was even real. Unfortunately, this idea died, as I was attacked by a group of ogre soldiers, whom I cut down, but was lured to go further.
I continued on my path, doing a full circle, or maybe I should say a rectangle, as the city was shaped mire like that. During the cleansing of the outer district, I kept away from the inner walls, to not get shot, as there were plenty of annoying archers up there. Those didn't have burning arrows though.
Overall it took me around an hour. I wanted to take a break after, to eat something, but all my food was back with the shadows, and going back would be a waste of time, so I decided just to push forward.
At first, I slowly approached, until the first arrows went my way.. Then I leaned forward at a dangerous angle and just ran as fast as I could.
