Chapter 339 - Days MCLVI - MCCVII

On this day a long period of fifty more started.  I was forced to pick up the anchor left close to the Xuvi base because I desperately needed one. That left a mark on me for days. The whole thing collapsed, leaving only a big hole filled with broken rocks. Probably the doing of The Great One themselves.

During my busy endeavors, more people were pulled to the city from earth, and Hatta officially began his first program of helping to acclimate the newcomers. They were split into groups and assigned to people with a bit more experience.

I wasn't paying too much attention to that overall because I was too busy killing monsters.

Overall, I gained 2 047 238 000 points and 300 class points.

My first decision was to go with upgrading the 'Psion' class to its maximum, and then unlocking the second tier: 'Experienced psionic'. It had the following skills: 'Focus II',  'Power of mind II', 'Telekinesis II', 'Mind influence II', 'Gravity manipulation', 'Citadel of mind'.

I ended up ignoring the 'Mind influence' skill and upgraded the rest to the fifth level. With that, I gained some confidence in my ability to shield my thoughts from The Great One. At least at a distance.

I also took the second tier 'Initiate of Ice', with its following skills: 'Control Ice II', 'Create Ice II', 'Mana II', 'Cold resistance', 'Freeze'. I maxed that class immediately, knowing that just the fire magic is not enough. Not to mention how useful was being resistant to both hot and cold.

The last class I ended up buying was 'Barrier expert', the second tier of 'Barrier maker' with the following skills: 'Create barrier II', 'Mana II', 'Barrier strengthening II', 'Berrier breaking II', 'Sealing II', 'Seal strengthening II', 'Advanced barrier manipulation', 'Advanced seal manipulation'.

I also fully upgraded that class, mainly because to strengthen the power of my seal, so I could without a worry go nuts with strength.

And I did, buying six thousand upgrades, which brought me to my knees in agony. As the pain faded away I felt very powerful.  So much, that I immediately started working on changing the seal blocking my power, so I wouldn't accidentally kill somebody.

That happened during the last day. The total cost of the upgrades was 1 991 128 000 and 210 class points.

I also got my brand new enhanced clothes from rishi. He spent quite some time on those but the effect was amazing. Now I had plain-looking, comfortable attire that was more durable than a modern type of armor. You could easily compare those with tank protection.

I managed to put them to the test, getting myself beaten up a bit, just for the sake of winding out if there will be a sign of damage somewhere but there wasn't.

Then I took a single day off, to rest a bit. I ended up sitting in the pub and listening to the few people that also were drinking so early in the morning. I had to focus on my listening, to catch the conversations from the distance.

- So how was among the newbies? - asked one of the guys sitting close to the counter.

- They mostly are greenhorns, but few catch quicker than others. There was also a bunch of spoiled brats, but the most interesting one was a grandma... I'm telling you, that one was a funny one.

- Grandma?

- Yes. I swear I thought she was gonna die there, but instead she picks up this stone and throws it straight at a charging goblin. Hist him in the eye, and then beat the shit out of him with a cane she was using to support herself.

- That was unexpected.

- I know. I swear I pissed myself out of laughter.

Then their conversation switched more to the upgrades, so I started looking for somebody else to eavesdrop on.

- I'm telling you. He was just sitting, and looking straight at me with this strange smile - said one of three guys, sitting two tables further.

- Maybe he liked you? - said another.

- Look at this ugly smug. There is no way anybody would like that - said the third. - He was probably looking at some of the girls. I myself sometimes drift away when they are around. I'm telling you, they for sure are upgrading their beauty. There is no way that many of them would be so stunning.

- No! He was looking at me. I'm telling you. I spoke few words with him before. He was nice and everything, but then he sits there and watches.

- You should have just went and asked him what's his business - said the second.

- He was sitting with Marcella.

- Well, if I was sitting with her, I would be smiling too. Have you seen those hips?

The conversation quickly became very objectifying, so I just ignored them, and finished my mug of coke. After so long, it tasted incredible, I'm telling you...

I slowly picked myself up and headed straight to the exit. It was a perfect time to take a nap. Especially after almost not sleeping at all for so damn long.

I bumped into a guy as I was leaving the building. A bit taller than me, with brown wavy hair, and hazel eyes. Handsome fellow, probably from the middle east.

- S-sorry - he said immediately.

- It's as much my fault as yours.

- Uhm... I'm new here, Andy - he extended a hand, and I shook it. - Sorry to just introduce myself like that, but I don't know many people here yet.

- Peter. Watch out, cause those drunkards - I pointed back with my thumb - might want to fight you if you bump into any of them.

- Thanks for the advice.

- You're welcome.

That was the end of this short encounter, as both of us went our separate ways. The more I thought about that nap, the more I became sleepy, so I headed straight to my room.

The day came to an end with 206 755 629 points remaining on my account, and 179 class points.
