The man’s shout immediately caused his partner to quickly look above their heads and created the opportunity Wu Peng had waited for.

He shifted half of his body out from cover and aimed his gun at the neck of one of the men and pulled the trigger.

As the man fell onto the ground, Wu Peng charged forward and fiercely tackled the other person to the ground.

The person also reacted quickly. He realized that the situation was bad the moment he got tackled and immediately reached out to pull his dagger from its sheath beside his thigh.

Unfortunately, Wu Peng had predicted his movement and turned the dagger in his hand around and stabbed it into the crook of the man’s arm.

The Viper member let out a painful moan but had not given up on fighting back. He started to feel for his grenades around his waist with his other hand and intended to take Wu Peng down with him.

“You sure are a persistent gangster,” Wu Peng thought in his heart and pressed down on the man’s arm with his hand.

The two of them started a long strength contest. Unfortunately, the man could not free himself from Wu Peng’s pincer-like grip no matter how much he struggled.

Wu Peng felt the man’s strength get weaker and weaker and knew that he had run out of strength.

However, as a safety precaution, Wu Peng pulled the oxygen tube out of the man’s protective gear.

Without his oxygen supply, the man immediately stopped struggling, and his body started to convulse in pain.

To prevent the man from suffocating to death, Wu Peng pulled open his protective gear.

The face of a 30-year-old man appeared before his eyes. The man glared at Wu Peng with a venomous gaze.

Wu Peng reached out toward the man’s waist and disarmed all of his grenades and handguns before he dragged the man toward the side of the wall and sat him up.

“What’s your name? Why do you want to destroy the satellite signal station? Where are you hiding the core installations that you stole? I’ll spare your life if you tell me,” Wu Peng asked as he interrogated him.

The man fell silent for a moment before he let out a cold, mocking laugh, “We’ll rule everything eventually!” He had a determined gaze in his eyes.

Wu Peng thought that the situation was bad, and he saw a streak of black-colored blood flow from the corner of the man’s mouth.

Wu Peng felt for the man’s heartbeat, only to realize that it had stopped completely.

This was the first time Wu Peng had interacted with a member of Viper. They had average combat skills, but his non-existent fear of death gave Wu Peng the chills.

Fortunately, he had decided to come to investigate the area alone. If these men from Viper were to face off against Ye Wei’s team, just their suicidal attacks alone would cause Ye Wei and her team to suffer heavy casualties.

Wu Peng felt a little frustrated. He had worked the entire day but did not manage to obtain any new information.

However, it was better for him to get Ye Wei and the rest of her team to deal with the aftermath.

Wu Peng dragged the corpses together and picked up all of the bullet shells left on the ground.

He did not want Ye Wei to find out that he was the one who killed all these men.

He gathered all of the grenades around their waists. He cut a few of the grenades open with his dagger and poured the gunpowder out to create a fuse.

He left behind the corpses of the men who had been killed by his dagger or committed suicide by consuming poison. He placed the rest of the corpses together and installed the rest of the grenades on them.

He estimated the time it would take for the spark to reach the grenades through the fuse and confirmed that he would have enough time to run back to the trench. He ignited the fuse and left the scene.

He jogged back to the trench and heard a giant explosion pierce through the night sky shortly after.

Ye Wei immediately took out her binoculars to observe the situation.

“Everyone, listen to my orders! Scouts and snipers are to remain here. Daliu and A’liang, follow me! The rest of you, follow 30 meters behind us and cover us.” After she relayed her orders, Ye Wei led the team and was the first to advance toward the ruins where the explosion had happened.

Wu Peng could not remain and hide in the trench. He jogged over and caught up to Ye Wei.

“What are you doing here? Go back and await orders!” Ye Wei wanted to drive Wu Peng away, but he pretended to be cool and disregarded her words.

Left without a choice, Ye Wei got Daliu and A’liang to protect Wu Peng.

After the group arrived at the ruins, Ye Wei was the first to charge into the building to investigate.

Wu Peng knew that there was no danger in the building but Ye Wei did not know that. Wu Peng had a look of admiration when he saw Ye Wei put herself in danger for her team.

She investigated the building for a short while before she noticed the corpses of the members of Viper.

Ye Wei arranged for a few of her men to act as scouts around the area and began a simple investigation of the corpses. “Judging from their attire and equipment, they are all warriors that have been through strict training. However, based on their wounds, other than one who had committed suicide by consuming poison, the rest of them have had their throats slit open at a close distance. What’s going on?”

Wu Peng stood on the side as he listened to Ye Wei’s analysis. He felt amused when he saw how Ye Wei was a little confused.

“Captain Ye, in your opinion, do you think that the person who managed to assassinate these men at a close distance has phenomenal combat prowess?” Wu Peng asked her curiously.

Ye Wei did not know the truth and immediately nodded in approval, “Your analysis is correct. That person must be a top-notch expert.”

Wu Peng fought back the urge to laugh. It felt great to be praised.

“I can’t determine anything for the time being. I’ll have to wait until we examine the corpses closely back at the base.” Ye Wei stood up and called for reinforcements.

Sometime later, a six-wheeled armored vehicle drove over and a few law enforcers leaped out to carry the corpses away.

“Captain Ye, what should we do next? Do we continue standing guard or return to the base?” Wu Peng asked.

“What do you mean? We’ll have to continue standing guard, of course. What if this was a trap set up by the enemy?” Ye Wei’s explanation was logical, and Wu Peng had no complaints.

Viper might send another wave of men over.

“Captain Ye, I was in awe of how you had led the charge just now. You really are Hua Mulan reborn,” Wu Peng said as he praised her.

Ye Wei saw how Wu Peng was being frivolous again and could not care to respond. She had learned to ignore Wu Peng’s words.

The team continued to stand guard after the corpses were transported away.

They did not notice any abnormalities until daybreak.

Ye Wei and the rest only got ready to head back to sleep when a new batch of law enforcers arrived at the scene.

Wu Peng was still energetic even though he had spent the night here. “General Hua, are you going to come to stand guard again tonight?”

“What General Hua? Why do you still have the energy to be this frivolous even after spending the night out here?” Ye Wei asked in a cold tone.

Ye Wei had to hand it to Wu Peng. Even she felt a little tired after she put all her concentration into guarding the area last night.

However, Wu Peng acted as though nothing had happened.

“I am always this full of energy. I can show you if there’s an opportunity next time.” Wu Peng secretly threw in a sexual joke but Ye Wei did not catch it.

After bidding goodbye to Ye Wei and the rest of the team, Wu Peng returned to his little den and ate a simple meal.

He laid down on his bed and started to replay the scenes of the battle last night in his head.

If those people had really been sent by Viper, then the organization was something that he should not underestimate.

Just a small team of theirs had such terrifying equipment and determination, they could choose to consume poison and die on the spot.

If everyone in Viper was like that, he would not be able to obtain any useful information even after ten battles.

He could only hope that Ye Wei could find some useful clues after investigating their corpses.

A smile appeared on Wu Peng’s face when he thought about Ye Wei.

Captain Ye had become General Hua in his heart. She was a woman with both brains and brawn, and he admired her deeply.

Unfortunately, Ye Wei still seemed to be wary of him and always deliberately put some distance between them.
