Wu Peng did not know who the woman was or why she was being chased by members of Viper, but he knew that he had to help her.

He immediately sprinted toward the direction the woman was running toward while observing the situation from his phone.

The woman seemed to be out of stamina, and she staggered as she ran. She looked like she was about to fall at any moment.

Wu Peng felt a little anxious as he was still rather far away. He knew that there would definitely be an arduous battle when he got there, and he had to conserve his energy.

A few minutes later, the woman could not last any longer, she tripped over a piece of rock and fell forward like a tossed rag.

The members of Viper behind her immediately charged forward. They disregarded the woman’s pain and fear, tightly surrounded her, and snatched the black crystal from her hands.

One of the members of Viper closely examined the black crystal and placed it into a pouch around his waist.

After they obtained what they had come for, the three people from Viper pulled the woman up and seemed to ask her about something.

However, the woman shook her head continuously before they viciously beat her unconscious.

By the time he saw this, Wu Peng was within 500 meters from them.

“Wouldn’t I be able to find Viper’s base if I followed them?” After he thought about this, Wu Peng chose not to rush forward to save the woman.

He took out his gun and fitted a silencer on its barrel. He took a detour and came behind the three men.

One of them had to carry the unconscious woman. This affected the speed at which the three men moved which allowed Wu Peng to easily follow them from further away.

However, this beautiful scenario did not last long.

After the three-man group had walked roughly two kilometers, the member of Viper who was carrying the woman became a little frustrated. “Do you think it’s time for someone else to carry this woman? She’s dead weight.”

In the end, the other two people of the group did not speak. None of them wanted to do this effortful and laborious task.

“Did you not hear me when I’m talking to you?” the member carrying the woman shouted.

The other two members finally stopped in their tracks when they saw him refuse to carry the woman any longer.

“What are you doing, S3?” S2 asked irritably.

“Why must I be the only one to carry this woman?” S3 asked angrily.

“Your marksmanship is the poorest. Do you want S1 to carry her?” S2 said with a mocking tone.

“F*ck you! Is your marksmanship better than mine?” S3 shouted as he pulled out his gun and aimed it at S2 for mocking him.

“Do you think that you are the only one who has a gun?” S2 was unwilling to show weakness and also raised his gun.

“Enough!” S1 interrupted their conflict and looked at the unconscious woman. “We’ve obtained the item. This woman has no more value to us alive. Kill her.”

Wu Peng saw the three-man group suddenly stop to converse and thus sneakily got closer to them. In the end, he heard that they were going to execute the woman and immediately thought that the situation had turned for the worse.

Originally, he had wanted to follow the group all the way back to their lair. However, he could not look on helplessly as Viper killed an innocent person before his eyes.

Wu Peng saw the group aim their guns toward the woman.

Wu Peng hesitated no longer. He took out the AK-47 behind his back, cocked the gun, took aim, and fired in one fluid motion.

“Bang, bang, bang!”

The sound of three gunshots reverberated in the air. The AK-47 had decent power, but it was also deafening.

All three members of Viper wore modified protective gear that had bulletproof qualities. It was hard for him to kill them in one shot from that far away with his handgun.

Wu Peng could only use the more powerful AK-47 to deal with one of the men first.

S3’s face was smashed in by the bullets of the AK-47.

The other two members of the group immediately crawled down onto the ground and aimed their guns toward Wu Peng at the same time.

Unlike the close-ranged assassination that he did the previous night, a mid-ranged gunfight was more dangerous.

Guns were more unpredictable. The other party might not be able to land a bullet on him and hit a vital spot with one bullet.

After he killed one of the members, Wu Peng hugged his gun and started to sprint to the left.

The two members of Viper who crawled on the ground immediately started to retaliate after they collected themselves.

A string of gunshots rang out. However, Wu Peng ran at such a high speed they did not have an accurate shot at him, the bullets flew past his body and could not hit him.

“Throw a grenade!” S1 ordered with a deep voice.

The two of them took out a grenade from around their waists, pulled the pin, and threw it toward Wu Peng.

Even though Wu Peng was sprinting, he constantly paid attention to the movements of the enemies using his peripheral vision.

He realized that the other party was going to throw grenades after they stopped firing their guns. He raised his sprinting speed to its maximum and pounced forward.

He heard a deafening explosion behind him, but he did not have the time to check if he had been injured by any flying shrapnel.

Wu Peng sat up, aimed his rifle quickly toward one of the men, and pulled the trigger.

“Ah!” Wu Peng heard a pitiful cry when S2 had been hit in the shoulder. The impact of a 7.62-caliber bullet was immense. It instantly shattered half of his shoulder.

Even though he had not died yet, he lost his ability to battle.

S1’s heart thumped wildly because he did not know just who their opponent was.

Their opponent’s marksmanship, reaction speed, and battle capabilities were on the same level as the coaches in Viper.

He stroked the pouch around his waist that held the black crystal. The mission that the organization had given him and his team were to return with the black crystal. There was no need for him to battle to the death with that person here.

S1 shot a few bullets in Wu Peng’s direction and turned to run.

Wu Peng was a little surprised when he saw that his enemy chose to escape. “The members of Viper were unafraid of death. So why are they retreating today?” he thought.

He then thought about the black crystal and immediately understood the situation. “That item must be very important. I cannot let it fall into Viper’s hands.”

Wu Peng leaped up from his original position, aimed, and fired at S1.

He quickly accelerated. He thought of the terrifying punishment the organization would dish out on him if he allowed the black crystal to be stolen.

However, no matter how much he ran, Wu Peng followed behind him, a short distance away.

Wu Peng was like a shadow, he could not shake him.

S1 became increasingly anxious, which caused his stamina to drop even faster.

However, he did not know that Wu Peng was also on his last legs.

His stamina was a little better than the average person, but he had exhausted a good amount of it during their battle.

Wu Peng would have given up the chase if the enemy could continue to run for two minutes.

“Urgh!” S1 could no longer take it. The intense sprint had caused the contents in his gut to churn. He could not help but pull off the mask of his protective gear and retch.

Wu Peng could not stop himself but laugh when he saw how haggard the other person looked.

His joy quickly turned into sorrow. He cut off his air supply when he laughed and also felt his stomach churn.
