“Going through Space-time will attract the surveillance of dangerous parties, so the system has to seal both your memories and abilities so that you won’t attract any attention.”

“When can I have my memories back?” asked Gu Qingshan.

“Please wait patiently. You will need to travel between the two worlds about two more times before you can regain all your memories,” replied the system.

Gu Qingshan sighed.

If even his memories had been sealed away, then he was like an incomplete person.

The two of them walked out of Changning Steel Mecha Tech with Gu Qingshan and headed for the Su residence in a flying shuttle.

After traveling for about twenty minutes in the flying shuttle, it landed near a vast lake.

Gu Qingshan walked out from the flying shuttle and looked around. All he could see was the shimmer of the lake from the wind blowing against the water.

There was an island in the middle of the lake, and that was where the Su residence was located.

The Su family of the nine counties was one of the founders of this country.

“Please take the small boat and head for the island in the middle of the lake,” instructed the men who had brought him to the lake. Then, they left him there.

Gu Qingshan thanked them and walked over to the side of the lake.

He didn’t raise any objections since he knew the rules around this place. Flying shuttles and other flying objects were not allowed to fly over the island in the middle of the lake.

There was a small boat waiting by the lakeside.

There was another young man already standing in the small boat.

“You must be Gu Qingshan, right?” the other young man greeted him with a smile.

“My surname is Bai. My name is Bai Hongyu. I’m from Baisha County,” the young man replied with a tinge of arrogance on his face.

The magistrate’s family of Baisha County was also a Bai.

Since this young man could stand here and have an opportunity to be on a boat headed for the Su residence, then he was very possibly from that Bai family—one of the nine major aristocratic families that ruled the Federation.

“Nice to meet you,” Gu Qingshan replied and started getting into the boat.

Bai Hongyu blocked his way. “Wait a moment.”

Gu Qingshan paused and looked at the other man.

Bai Hongyu had his nose in the air as he continued, “It’s that for a low-class fellow like you doesn’t attend the Su family’s banquet. Otherwise, you might make all the aristocrats at the banquet feel very uncomfortable.”

Gu Qingshan calmly said, “It’s Mrs. Su who invited me over.”

Bai Hongyu laughed with a mocking face, “Go back. I’ll tell Mrs. Su that you’re unwell and didn’t turn up.”

Gu Qingshan said, “And if I don’t go back?”

Bai Hongyu replied, “I’m from the Bai family of Baisha County, and the head of the Bai family is my father. That’s all I will say. You should know what will happen if you don’t listen to me.”

Gu Qingshan said, “Please, step aside.”

Bai Hongyu looked straight at Gu Qingshan as if he were looking at an idiot.

There was a middle-aged woman seated upright in the pavilion and focused on brewing her tea.

“What problem?” the middle-aged woman asked without even turning her head back.

“The two of them seem to have gotten into a conflict. Only one person has managed to get onto the boat and is on the way here right now.”

The middle-aged woman had a faint smile on her face as she murmured to herself, “Bai Hongyu has matured, after all, and knows how to make someone give in to him without putting up a fight. That’s good. That makes him worthy to be an aristocrat.”

“Madam, that’s not what happened. The one on the boat now is Gu Qingshan.”

The middle-aged woman asked in surprise, “Then, what about Bai Hongyu?”

“Gu Qingshan pulled all his clothes off and kicked him into the lake.”

The subordinate reporting continued in a low voice, “The Bai family and their guards have all come to the island in batches, and as per the custom for anyone here to ask for a daughter’s hand in marriage, Bai Hongyu has waited for a boat at the lakeside. Mrs. Su looked just like Su Xue’er, and since she often appeared in the news, it was impossible for him not to recognize her.

“Hello, Mrs. Su,” Gu Qingshan bowed.

Mrs. Su threw a glance at him and said, “Don’t talk. Just listen.”

Gu Qingshan froze and started to hear many sounds from a place not far from where they were.

This was the back garden. Not far in front was the banquet hall and hunting grounds.

The wind brought the voices of the people in those places over and they could be heard clearly.

In the noisy chatter, there were some speaking eloquently about world politics, while some were quietly exchanging business opportunities. As for the ladies, they were discussing which clothes and bags were more fashionable, or which holiday destination they were headed for.

Mrs. Su let Gu Qingshan listen to all this for a while before speaking again. “What did you hear?”

Gu Qingshan replied, “I’m hearing a lot of information on military movement and business dealings.”

Mrs. Su said, “That’s right. Those talking about the military are all military officers that are of higher rank than a Major. Those talking business are all descendants of the Su family and the Bai family. They’re now preparing to invest more than ten billion into starting a new company.”

“Everything they are doing will not only help the Federation to advance but will also improve the lives of the millions of ordinary citizens in this country.”

“As for the ladies, any piece of clothing or bags they mentioned are luxury items that you could never afford to buy even if you worked hard for several years.”

Mrs. Su turned to look at Gu Qingshan. “You are of such a lowly class—so poor and so weak. If Su Xue’er hadn’t spoken up for you, did you think you could really enter the Su family’s Changning Steel Mecha Tech yourself?”

Gu Qingshan was quiet for a few moments before replying very seriously, “Mrs. Su, based on my own capabilities, I am qualified to be part of the Research and Development Department.”

“You still don’t get it?” Mrs. Su shook her head.

She turned on her communication device and gave instructions, “Terminate Gu Qingshan of Changning Steel Mecha Tech’s Research and Development Department. With immediate effect.”

The moment Mrs. Su finished speaking, Gu Qingshan’s communication device started ringing.

The other party only said one sentence.

“From today onward, you have been terminated from work.”
