Chapter 159:Making You Happy

Sheloah folded her arms. "I don't believe you. Kreiss wouldn't hurt me. Maybe he's just saying that because he is indeed using me for something," she said then Veon raised a brow at her.

"Now you admit that you're being used and yet you believe that he's good?"

The girl shrugged. "So what? During my stay there, he did nothing to hurt me. He's a gentle guy. He's a painter—a dreamer," Sheloah said and Veon just shook his head.

"Mysterious AND suspicious. Honestly, it would be best not to trust him much," he said and Sheloah scoffed.

"Why not? He kidnapped me, yeah… but he took care of me."

Veon looked irritated when he heard Sheloah defend Kreiss.

"But he harmed you before he kidnapped you! Didn't that ever cross your mind!?"

Sheloah was taken aback when Veon shouted at her.

"But he—" Veon did not let her finish.

"He locked you up afterwards. I could tell," he said then Sheloah went quiet.

He was right.

'Veon doesn't really trust Kreiss.'

"Kreiss isn't a bad person," Sheloah started again and Veon glared at her, not wanting to listen.

"Enlighten me," he said and Sheloah sighed, but she answered him anyway.

"I actually met Kreiss before. He had his entrance exam for college. He told me that I was the one who inspired him to follow his dreams even though his family was completely against it," Sheloah said and Veon just rolled his eyes at her.

"So?"

Sheloah continued.

"I met him again recently. He may be irritating at times when he watched over me, but he was nice. He even fed me and provided me room. He even makes me laugh with his jokes. He made sure I was okay," she said and Veon just looked at Sheloah, not giving what she said any importance.

"Are you done?"

"So he's making you happy now?"

When Veon asked that, Sheloah felt annoyed.

"You know what you sound right now? A jealous boyfriend."

When Sheloah said this, Veon shot her a mean look.

"I'm just worried about you, Sheloah. And I don't want you to trust that man completely!"

Veon was almost shouting at this point, making Sheloah surprised. But what surprised the two more was when suddenly, the tree where they were hiding suddenly got cut down by the zombie's arm. This made Veon instinctively embrace Sheloah to protect her.

They successfully dodged the zombie's attack and they both ran away from their enemy, distracting it again.

"Let's just run until the others come back. We don't need to attack," Veon said, then Sheloah just nodded, forgetting their conversation for the meantime.

While they were running, Veon noticed that the zombie was doubling its pace. He looked back and wondered what would happen if ever he shot the zombie's feet. He did so and the zombie let out a cry of pain. It was effective since his speed suddenly slowed down.
