165 The Training Quarters, Breya’s Mission

Name:Ascenders Rift Author:ShadowsFinger
The Training Center was an enormous dome-shaped building, with many other facilities surrounding it. It stood within the central areas of the City of Hope, acting as a hub for all citizens to train their skills for combat.

At the present time, a hovercar had arrived within its vicinity, making its way through a sea of other vehicles. As it landed, its hatch opened to reveal a few familiar silhouettes that promptly exited and began to walk towards the building.

"Whoa! It's even larger than I'd imagine now that I see it up close," Joe said with a surprised expression while he looked around.

The others were also amazed by its sheer size. Emilia looked around and saw a few well-kept plants and flowers planted at the sides; she couldn't help but feel a tinge of concord with them around. As for Breya and Layla, they didn't seem to mind it, much like Rick and Evan, who were only looking at it curiously.

Leo smiled as he led the group, he replied to Joe, "You haven't seen anything yet, wait till we get inside."

'Ho... it seems that there's something quite special for us to see. Haha, those fellows probably weren't invited if they didn't even share of these details back then,' Evan thought with a smile.

After saying this, Evan promptly followed along with Joe and the others, quickly venturing into the Training Quarters.

When they entered, no one seemed to notice, but a few silhouettes had looked at them from afar, before turning around and vanishing into thin air.

The instant they vanished, Layla, who sensed it walked a bit closer to Evan and glanced at him before she spoke in a whispering tone, "Evan, I think that we're being..."

Evan promptly spoke to finish her statement, "Watched? Yes, I know, but don't worry, let's just pretend nothing's out of the ordinary, I want to see what's going to happen. Eventually, I believe the heads will start to show their faces. If possible, we can learn a few interesting things and get a few chips in our hands."

When Layla heard this, she showed a look of understanding as she replied, "Okay."

Other than Layla, Rick and Breya also seemed to notice, as did Emilia, who had heard a silent whisper from a spirit. Though they didn't turn around or show obvious changes in expression, their manner did grow a bit more somber.

Of course, Joe was the only person amongst their party to remain clueless, as he was locked in a heated conversation with Leo. Julie and Razel were the only ones who felt a slight change, but they couldn't quite figure out its source.

"Did you sense that just now?" Julie asked Razel with a confused look.

Razel narrowed his eyes and replied, "Indeed, I don't know who, but there might be an expert watching us. Since he doesn't dare to show his face, it can only mean he naturally fears us; it could even be someone sent by that spoiled Anderson to teach Leo a lesson."

"Pssh… you and I both know Mark wouldn't be so foolish, Leo might be a bum, but he's not weak. If they were to send someone, he wouldn't act like such a timid fellow," Julie said with a mocking look on her face.

"Huhu... maybe so," Razel said with a smirk as his hawk-like eyes glared at the surroundings before he continued to look forward.

Not long after, the two parties had arrived within the dome-like building, and upon arriving on the inside, no one amongst Evan's party was able to hide their shock.

Inside of the building was a scene much like the outside, with a bright blue sky and lush earth. Looking around, one would even see a few white counters with odd wrist bands placed around the top of them, as a few well-dressed personals addressed other persons.

"This... place is huge! Is this another hidden space?" Joe asked in shock.

Evan looked around carefully; he was innately attuned to the void, so he now senses things he wouldn't normally. He thought, 'It's quite vast, but it's not a separate space, maybe this is a kind of manipulation.'

Leo shook his head and replied, "No, that in itself is not so simple to do, what you see before you is just an expanded version of original space, with a projected sky. We do have another space, but that is the location for our training battles. The only way to access that area is through using those Training Rings."

Joe was still surprised hearing this, Rick looked around and nodded while giving slight praise, "Truly remarkable, this ancient wisdom of your kind is a truly handy inheritance."

"Haha, maybe... now come, let us go receive a ring, after doing so we can decide how we shall do our little competition," Leo replied with a happy expression as he began to walk over to the counters.

Joe and the others promptly followed behind him, but Evan, who was a bit behind everyone else, walked over to Breya.

"Breya, let's chat for a moment," Evan said in a whispering tone.

Breya looked at Evan curiously before she followed along, Layla looked at this with an odd look, but she decided not to interfere following Rick and the others.

A little distance away from both parties, Breya looked at Evan with a hint of suspicion and spoke, "Hey, you're not going to confess hidden feelings, right? I'll have you know that I'm not that kind of girl..."

Evan rolled his eyes and replied, "Come now, I already have an angel. I don't need a demoness..."

Breya was surprised as his comeback, she was angered by his words, but managed to keep her cool as she spoke, "Hmph! So, you're a gentleman only for Layla, but a devil for everyone else, fine, I can accept that; what can I help you with, Evan?"

Evan smirked, ignoring her manner of speech as he stretched his hand out towards her as if he was holding something.

Breya was a bit surprised at first, but as she saw through his movement, she reached her hand out underneath it.

Following this, Evan opened his hand, causing a few small square-shaped cards to drop into her palms. He then spoke with a solemn look, 'During the battle between our group and Leo's, I want you to use any means possible to gather the details from these cards.'

Breya looked at the cards with puzzlement as she spoke, "Hmm? What kind of cards are they?"

Evan shook his head and replied, "I'm not sure, but I had found them during our short escapade at that Origin Lab. While I did glean a few things from an old tablet-like device, I have a feeling that these details are quite crucial to this world and its current state. I also want to learn a little bit more about these humans and their purpose."

Upon listening to his words, Breya nodded as she spoke, "I see, so they are something like data cards in a sense. Fine, I can work with it, I just have to find its point of input and work around it."

Evan smiled and waved his hand once more, causing the old tablet to appear with a broken screen. He handed it over to Breya, who grasped it in her palms as he spoke again, "Good, this is the tablet I read before, you can try to see if anything more is hidden on it. If possible, compile everything you get from each of these devices, and then give us a presentation after it's all done."

Breya sighed as she saw all of this, she looked at Evan with a look of grievance on her charming face as she spoke, "Evan, you're so mean, you're giving me so much work, what am I going to get for this as payment?"

Evan looked at her and shook his head, he didn't have any clues, but at this time he looked and saw that Joe was looking over at the two of them suspiciously. As if he got an idea, Evan made a sly smirk as he spoke, "I have the perfect gift."

Breya seeing his look was a little worried, but as Evan leaned in closer and whispered in her ears, her eyes changed from suspicions into wonderment and excitement when she turned and looked at Joe in a strange look.

After saying his piece, Evan looked at her and walked off while speaking, "Haha, based on your response, I can tell that you've accepted that as the price, I am looking forward to your work Breya."

"I will do my best!" Breya said, giving even the highest of military salutes, her eyes beaming in a bright ray as if she saw a new future.

Evan chuckled at this, he quickly went over to the group and saw that Joe was looking at him oddly. He spoke, "Hey, is something wrong, Joe?"

Joe hearing this made a drawn outlook as he scrunched up his face and turned his head to the side, he then replied, "I-It's noooothing... it only looked that you were having quite the fun conversation back there. Good job..."

Pff! Evan held himself back from laughing, especially as he saw Joe's look, which was no different from a child expressing his jealousy.

He shook his head and slapped Joe on the shoulders as he spoke, "Don't go overthinking things, I merely did you a favor, so from now on, you're going to have to pay me back."

"A favor?" Joe said in surprise, recovering to his previous manner.

However, by the time he did this, Evan already walked over to Leo's side. Joe looked at his back oddly before he looked at Breya, he noticed that she was also looking at him, but her manner seemed a bit different as if she was expecting something in the future.

At this moment, Joe felt a chill, a feeling that somehow, he had mounted a giant wave, and at any moment, he would fall into big trouble.
