212 Wilma’s Search, Beginning the Attack

Name:Ascenders Rift Author:ShadowsFinger
In this scene, a dense smog had risen from a sea of flames that burned most of the parts from different aircraft. Within it, one would even notice the crushed and burnt corpses of a few individuals as a dismal silence filled the area.

Swoosh! A shadow suddenly bolted from the distance before it came to a halt in the vicinity, soon it became clearer revealing the anxious-looking Wilma that stared at the crash site with worried eyes.

"S-Sir Milon! Please answer me! Please tell me that you're alive!" Wilma cried out, unable to shroud her feelings.

It was at times like these that a person truly realizes that what truly mattered in life is one's actions, the entire idea of hiding one's emotions and feelings, keeping them bottled up will only end up getting one nowhere.

Wilma continued her search through the blazing wreckages as she yelled with no concern for being discovered, her mind now blinded by her anxiety.

After searching for a while, Wilma came to a stop before what seemed like the most massive ship; she slipped over on the ground with tears flowing from her cheek as she stared at the destroyed Commander Class Aircraft doused by flames and smoke.

"Will I never have a chance? Must I always fall for tragedies...?" Wilma muttered to herself as her eyes now showed a lost look; the very first love of her life died during the first age of Evolvers.

Now, the man who charmed her wounded spirit that had healed over time had also succumbed to his untimely fate. The scene here now one of a desolate mood as the young and beautiful woman wept in grief. Yet, though it seemed like such a scene would persist, there came an unexpected change.

Cough! The sounds of someone coughing could be heard followed by a weak but self-mocking voice, "Aye... with such sorrowful tears in my ears, how can any man die in peace?"

When Wilma heard this, her tearful eyes showed surprise as she looked around in shock and spoke hurriedly, "S-Sir Milon, is that you?"

With another cough, Milon's weak voice sounded again, "Cough... who else could it be? Come... I'm in pretty bad shape; I need your help to get out from here..."

Wilma felt joy as she replied, "Yes sir, I'll do it immediately!"

Not even wasting a moment, Wilma shifted her eyes towards the direction she heard the voice, she then pointed her palms towards that area and commanded, "Gravity Surge!"

With a rise of energy that formed around her slender body that rustled her hair and clothing, the huge aircraft parts and crumbled concrete began to float before being shifted towards a different area.

Wilma was shocked at this sight, but she didn't dare to dally as she hurried over to his side and spoke while inspecting his condition, "Sir Milon, are you really okay?"

Milon, who was almost at an inch of his life, looked at the beautiful young woman that fallen for him despite his prime years. He sighed when he noticed the concern in her eyes, even more, the words she ushered prior.

He answered, "I'm fine... let's get out of here, this isn't a safe place."

When Wilma heard this, her face beamed with a bright smile as she began to lift him from the floor, she then used her gravity powers to lower the gravity for both of them as she prepared to leave in a hurry.

Milon looked at her with a moved expression as he opened his mouth, wanting to say something, but in the end, he didn't, he knew this wasn't the time.

Wilma seemed to notice this, even though he said nothing, she felt better knowing that her attempts to move him had finally begun to show some fruits.

The two were now moments from leaving, but suddenly, a brand-new change occurred.

"Ho... what's this? Human survivors? Well, this is unexpected!" A cold but curious voice said as it sounded across the heavens.

Both Wilma and Milon were shocked as they looked up only to notice that a mosquito general had arrived a few dozen meters above them. It stared at them in a threatening manner as it pointed its finger and commanded, "All kin heed my commands! Hurry and kill them!"

In an instant, a horde of over a few hundred giant mosquitos had swarm towards as they blocked out the sky while rapidly bolting towards Milon and Wilma.

"Not good!" Both Milon and Wilma exclaimed, but as they were already surrounded, they both knew that the outcome of this assault would be bad.

They both clenched their fists tightly as they stared at each other, the two seeming to be able to express countless emotions through a single glance.

As if they came to the same agreement, they both shifted their eyes up at the mosquito horde with a determined look as flames arose around the weakened Milon, while the gravity powers condense around Wilma.

The mosquito general sneered at this as it knew that their pitiful attempt to resist would be futile, the horde was only one moment from sending them to their doomed, but at this moment, something happened.

Peng! The sounds of something getting trapped by a wire resounded as everything came to a standstill.

Milon, Wilma, and even the mosquito general were shocked at this change as they both looked at the horde of mosquitoes that stopped moving. Before they could even process the scenario, two other changes occurred.

With a series of swishing sounds and sharp noises, a rain of arrows and purplish ray attacks bolted from different directions, crashing into most of the mosquitoes with great precision.

Following this, a blue shadow flashed about at alarming speeds, wherever it passed a mosquito would eventually result in a mangled corpse filled with bloody holes.

In only ten seconds, every mosquito of the hundred-strong horde was annihilated with ease as the perpetrators finally came into view.

Rick, Breya, Layla, and Emilia had suddenly appeared from four directions; they each stood onto the top of the ruined structure in their fine garments as their faces showed confident smiles.

"You... thank god!" Milon said in relief as he saw them appear, he was hoping not to bite the bucket so early, especially after the vague exchange with Wilma.

Wilma heaved a sigh of relief, that situation prior was just too dangerous, she might have been able to escape, but that was at the cost of Milon's life.

"Haha, you guys sure had it close, but have no fear for I Fatty… am here!" Joe said with a hearty laugh as he only now appeared behind them.

Milon and Wilma made a forced smile, not knowing how to reply, they had just lost many lives to this army; there was no way they can find the mood to be as cheerful as Joe.

"This fatty…" Breya said while rolling her eyes but her lips curved into a smile.

Emilia also gave her brother a look not saying anything, she felt a bit embarrassed by his manner. However, Rick snorted saying nothing while Layla's attention seemed to be more focused on the scene above as if looking at something.

The scene seemed to be at peace, but the core danger had yet to be resolved, and the mosquito general who had now recovered from its daze glared at everyone with dense killing intent.

"Humans! How dare you show your face before me?" The mosquito general said as its body erupted with the power of a multiple-attribute Level 11 Ascended Lifeform.

The instant Milon and Wilma felt its aura, their faces sunk as they knew that even if they were them battling against him, they would need to team up to earn a hard-fought or tragic win.

'Such power... even more so that those darn Body Shifters, they've been evolving a rapid rate during these short few years...' Milon thought with a solemn look on his face.

Despite thinking this, however, his face no longer showed fear as he now carried a somewhat reassuring appearance.

Heck, not only Milon himself, even Wilma had recovered to normal, as the faces of Joe and the others from Evan's party were one of ease.

The mosquito general that was fuming felt confused, even more so when it saw a look of pity from Joe's eyes. It instantly became enraged at this as it shouted, "Damn human! You dare look down on..."

The mosquito general was about to say something, but at this moment, an icy voice from behind it, "Looks like we've caught the right fish..."

The mosquito general was alarmed as it hurriedly retreated, leaving behind an afterimage. When it came to a halt, it saw a handsome brown-haired young man, garbed in fine-looking armor nearby as he stared at him indifferently.

"You... how did you...?" mosquito general tried to piece together the situation, but as if Evan heard enough, he stretched his hand to the side as his Void Sword to appear.

As Evan did this, he then spoke with a sharp glint in his eyes, "Enough talking, you have a mission to fulfill..."

His cold voice sounding across the entire area, filling anyone who heard it with dread as the mosquito general knew that at this moment, his journey had finally met its end.
