215 Prelude to a Grand Clash

Marlin's eyes were currently ablaze, her entire body shrouded by her Blood Aura as her hair danced wildly. She glared at Evan, Rick, and the others who were rapidly escaping in the distance as she shouted, "You dirty little humans, how dare you kill my kin? You can forget about leaving this place alive!"

As if the Calamity Mosquito below her understood her will, its eyes gleamed menacingly as its body glowed. Instantly, the speed at which it traveled had increased dramatically as it rapidly gained onto Evan and the others.

Joe's face sunk as he glanced behind him, he made huffing noises as the sweat trickled down his face and the fat on his belly bounced as he made an extra effort jump to keep up with the group.

"Huff… huff… damn, Evan, what the hell? It's speeding up and I'm nearing my limit. How are we to lead it outside if it's already caught up to us?" Joe said in a slightly exhausted tone.

Evan said nothing as if he was waiting on something, Rick, on the other hand, had a stern look as he felt the dark intent that was rapidly approaching.

Layla, though worried, decided to give blind confidence to Evan as she gripped the scepter in her hands firmly with a serious look in her eyes.

Emilia and Breya also had a similar determination as they both waited for the right moment as they rapidly ran.

Not long after, they had all arrived at the outskirts of the city; a two-way path appeared, leading to the mountainous area as the other led to the forest like region.

Evan's eyes flashed as he spoke, "We'll do it now! Guys, remember, fight it with the surroundings to your advantage, as for me, I'll do what I can to this queen..."

When the others heard this, they looked at Evan with a solemn gaze before they replied, "Right,"

Layla stared at Evan and spoke, "Be careful,"

Emilia also gave him a slightly worried look as she added, "Big Brother Evan, don't try to push your limits."

Rick gave Evan a look but said nothing, as did Breya, Joe, on the other hand, puffed out his belly and spoke, "Hey, don't go dying out of the blue, for I don't know who else will be there to save our asses from this apocalypse?"

Evan chuckled at Joe's words as he stared at everyone and replied, "I know, you guys do the same."

Marlin, who was now a few meters behind them, noticed this change, her eyes shone with a cruel ray as she spoke, "Humans! Don't think that you can escape by splitting up!"

Marlin then slapped the back of the Calamity Mosquito as she commanded it to move towards the forest direction while she jumped from its body and floated in the air, her back unfolding a set of beautiful cicada-like wings that gleamed in a sharp light as they flapped.

She glanced towards Evan's direction and narrowed her pupils while thinking, 'These humans, it's likely that they're trying to pull us into a trap, but what could they possibly do to someone of my caliber? Hmph! I'll have these little vermin pay the price of underestimating my strength...'

As Marlin glanced at the direction the Calamity Mosquito went, she no longer paid it any mind as her wings flapped, causing her transformed in a reddish after image as she swooshed across the sky towards the mountainous region.

At this moment, Evan was currently dashing on the ground, his speed was so fast that it easily exceeded any new-gen hypercars with over a few thousand horsepower.

It didn't take him long to arrive within the vicinity of the mountain range as he finally stopped at the summits of a mountain, gazing at the scene before him in silence.

Here, one would notice a stream of the clear river in a valley that flowed through a path that ran between the ranges; a few lush fields with colorful roses were visible as the mountain air had a tinge of richness.

'Such a beautiful world, but it's a pity it's not a time of peace...' Evan murmured as he stared at the scenes below him with a hint of pity in his eyes.

As if she was already there, Marlin had suddenly arrived on the very same mountain peak, standing a few meters away from Evan. Her gorgeous eyes with long eyelashes showing a strange look as she gazed directly onto his body as by now, her rage had oddly enough faded by a section.

Marlin who was previously angered by the death of her kin was now calm, the reason was quite simple, like all insects, they will always succumb to their instincts as every creature has its source of attraction.

In some cases, most would be attracted to lights from shining light bulbs. However, in the case of mosquitos, they are drawn to the blood of lifeforms.

Being a higher-class breed, Marlin, who stood at the very apex of all evolved mosquitos, was attracted to the blood of quality lifeforms which was essentially the fresh blood from those who were strong and with high genetic potential.

Marlin's face turned a shade red as she licked her lips, her eyes showing a somewhat mesmerizing look as she uttered, "Hmm~ oh my... oh my... such wonderful blood, human, though you've killed my kin, I have decided to spare you, from now onward, I will keep you as my direct supply. So don't fret now, until that day comes, I won't suck you dry...."

Evan's face turned at those words, even if Marlin was a high-class beauty, she was nonhuman and he didn't want anything to do with a creature like her. Naturally, this didn't mean that he would ever go out of his way to cheat with his only love, Layla.

"Hmph! Enough chatting, you want to drink me, but I'm sorry to say this but my blood is far too much for you to bare..." Evan said in a cold light as he raised his arm and condensed his Void Blade while his other arm called out his old partner Havengaurd. The clothes and cape on his arm flapped in the wind as his hair blew to the side.

"Hahaha! Human... we-will-see..." Marlin said word for words as her eyes shone in a terrifying light, her hair similarly danced to her sides as her face showed a cruel smile. Soon, she slowly started to spread her arms as her energies rose significantly.

Bang! Instantly, two catastrophic auras erupted from the mountain peak, both of a crimson color as Marlin's Blood Aura clashed with Evan's crimson Battle Energy.

The two energies sent ripples across the void, startling the nearby creatures below the mountain valley as it created a dreadful stampede, acting as the prelude to a battle of two mighty foes.
