217 Battle Against the Calamity Blood Mosquito 2

'Emmy, are you worried about your brother?" Layla asked as she looked at Emilia, whose arms were slightly shaking.

Emilia shook her head and hardened her somewhat worrisome eyes when she replied, "N-no, I'm fine; I know he'll be okay."

Layla didn't buy her words, but as she glanced her, she couldn't help but think, 'Are you worried about your brother? Or someone else...?'

Emilia also seemed to notice her mistake with her emotions; she had a hunch of what Layla wanted to ask but didn't say anything, the two girls now carrying a strange air between them.

Swoosh! Suddenly a quick movement sound was heard as Breya appeared, she jumped down from a massive tree branch and landed by their side, giving the duo a curious look before she spoke, "All done."

Not bothering to go into the previous topic, both Layla and Emilia's face brightened as they looked at her and spoke.

"Good work Sister Breya," Emilia said with a smile.

Layla glanced at Breya and spoke, "Great job, shall we get started then?"

Breya glanced at them and nodded as she spoke with confident eyes, "Hehe, let's give that stupid mosquito a lesson it will never forget."

Layla and Emilia showed similar looks when they heard this, as they were prepared to show their mettle against such a major foe.

Soon though, each of them lifted their heads as they stared towards the forest's direction that blazing flames; they could hear some rumbling in that direction as if something was crushing apart everything in that direction to come to their position.

Swoosh! Instantly, a blurry bluish figure bolted out from the shadows followed by a fat individual who seemed to have been repelled by something as he flew backward and smashed onto the ground with slight injuries.

Without even a moment to react in surprise, Rick, who had only now landed, shouted, "Everyone prepare for battle, it's coming!"

Breya noticed this and nodded with a solemn look in her eyes; she then jumped and vanished into the trees.

As Breya moved, Emilia, whose eyes were locked on Joe hurried to speak in a tone of worry, "Sister Layla, my brother, h-he's injured... please hurry and..."

Layla had already noticed Joe's injury; she suddenly stopped Emilia and spoke, "Don't worry Emmy, I've already started the spell, hurry up and take your position,"

Emilia only left after she saw Layla's scepter glowing in purplish-white lights, she showed relief before she hurried to withdraw from this area.

"Life Spell..." Layla invoked as a bright series of lights fell onto Joe's body; once this happened, all of his wounds and fatigue had vanished as he felt a tinge of rejuvenation.

He glanced at Layla and gave her a thumbs-up before shifting his eyes towards the direction he was hit from as he spoke, "Rick, let's do it again!"

Rick nodded not replying as he stood his ground with his blue-colored energies scattering from his body, he twirled his spear before holding it firmly as its edge faced the shadowy forests.

Layla had already retreated the others and was hiding within the surroundings, their eyes carrying a solemn look as their faces ran with sweat.

Suddenly, a terrifying buzzing noise resounded as the Calamity Blood Mosquito could be seen in the distance. It's massive glowing body illuminating everything in that vicinity with a reddish light as trees and branches were smashed apart with its direct charge.

"It's here!" Joe said in alarm, his body then began to change as he invoked his [Overburn] talent skill, causing dense clusters of steam to rise around him as he grew muscular and sturdy.

The girls also began to prepare themselves in the dark as Breya's fingers held onto a series of threads while Emilia knocked her golden bow.

Soon the area around them grow red as if it was about to be decimated by a terrifying light; Rick seeing this was alarmed, he shouted at Joe, "It's using that attack again, hurry and block it!"

Joe was previously suspicious, but his face sunk when he saw a giant ball of energy before it as it neared.

"Damn! Rick, don't tell me what to do! Arc Barrier!" Joe yelled as his Arc Shield expanded again but reaching a little over two and a half meters. His earthen colored energies also erupted in full as he prepared to use his absolute power to parry this attack.

Piiiiii! With another sharp sound, a blast was fired from the Calamity Mosquito's proboscis, one that was roughly two times larger than the previous one.

Breya, Emilia, and Layla, who saw this felt a sense of despair from it as they knew if it caught them, they'd suffer more than grievous injuries.

Joe didn't even hesitate as he knew that behind him were not only his friends but also his dear sister Emilia and the ambiguous Breya. He jumped forward without a shred of hesitancy as pressed his massive shield ahead, his image now looking no different from a brave and mighty hero that shouldered the world.

Emilia stared at her brother with worried eyes, she didn't want him to take such risks, but she knew that if he didn't at this time, no one could.

Breya's eyes showed an enamored look as she dazedly stared at the muscular back that held the shield, but she soon snapped out of it and recovered her senses, knowing full well of her objectives.

At this time, the Blood Mana Beam had collided with Joe's shield, pushing him back the moment it crashed into it.

Joe fell backward at a rapid rate, soon after being smashed into a sturdy tree, he coughed out a bit of blood as his entire body wreaked with pain, but this didn't stop the fire in his eyes.

"Ahhh!" Joe yelled as he pressed against the Arc Shield, using the tree he collided with to balance him as he resisted the Blood Mana Beam.

During this time, the scattered energies that weren't fully contained by the shield spread out across the area, crashing into boulders, and other regions as a myriad of explosions erupted.

As the explosions formed, the forest shook, stirring each of the girls from their hiding places, but none of them dared to move as if they were still waiting for the right moment.

Joe did his very best to resist the beam attack, but as for Rick, he had already vanished.

The Calamity Blood Mosquito was pressing onward while firing the ray attack from its proboscis. It's eyes showing a cruel look as if it could already see the end of these weak humans. Yet, at this time, a blue light flashed as it sensed an impending threat coming for its sole function eye. 

Swoosh! As if it was a ghost, the body of the proboscis blurred as it shifted to the side; Rick's Holy Spear Light missed it by a large margin as it crashed int the ground leaving behind a small but deep hole in the earth.

"Damn, it's still a notch faster," Rick cursed under his breath, but it was understandable that it was two levels above him and was especially strong due to its advancement in Life Standard.

Rick was feeling bitter, but at this moment, his face turned dark as he sensed the threat of death nearing, he hurriedly jumped back retreating in the direction of the girls as he struck his spear towards the front.

Ping! Bang! Rick's body was blown backward with two sharp sounds as the Calamity Blood Mosquito charged forward to make the final kill. Its body almost moved like a streak of light that charged as straight as a spear with its coldly shimmering proboscis only one step from plunging into Rick's body.

'Crap! I've been had...' Rick thought as he knew his position wasn't good, he didn't even have the time to put up a guard with his spear.

Joe, who had only now fully resisted the attack, wanted to charge forward, but he realized that he was already too late, he cursed, "Shit..."

Emilia saw this from this distance, causing her face to turn pale as she yelled, "Breya do it now, save him!"

While she was a bit surprised about Emilia's reaction, Breya was already ready; she was only waiting for it to get in range, she stared at the mosquito with a cunning look as she commanded, "Bind!"

As Breya said this, she spreads her palms pulled backward as if gripping something. Instantly, a series of wires became visible from the surroundings, as by now, the entire area seemed to be no different from a spider's web.

The Calamity Blood Mosquito looked around in confusion as it found that its body had stopped moving; it was entirely bounded by a series of wires from all angles, each of which was wrapped across trees and boulders.

"Kreeeeh!" The Calamity Blood Mosquito grew even more enraged; its body exploded with all of its dreadful Blood Mana was it began to struggle free from its holding.

Breya stood at the summits of a towering tree with many different wires in her arms as she firmly pulled backward, her face having a tinge of redness as she spoke, "I-I can't hold it for long, hurry and end it!"

Joe and the others had only now recovered their senses, they glared at it as they similar erupted their powers with savage looks in their eyes, now prepared to put this menace out of its misery.
