219 Reinforcement Arrives, A New Change

By now, more than 90% of those gathered within the diminishing barrier had already left as the final batch was evacuated even more rapidly.

"Quickly move! Do not let our Hero Briggs sacrifice be in vain!" One official shouted as his eyes were red, stained with tears.

A few others also had similar expressions as they pushed forward with even more effort, the various machines and vehicles left one by one in an organized and swift manner.

At this time, Leo and his party had once more entered the barrier; they moved along with the surviving groups from the Elite Evolvers who had previously fought with their lives on the line.

Looking at them, one would notice that thought their enemies were destroyed, neither of them had a shred of joy in their eyes as their mood only carried an air of grimness.

"Damnit! Damnit! Damnit!" Razel cursed as he banged his fist against a wall, causing it to form a few craters.

Leo sighed as he looked at this, not knowing what to say, for even a calm man such as Razel to break down like this, one could see the pain he was feeling at the depths of his soul.

Leo lowered his head while muttering, "If only I were stronger, this wouldn't have happened..."

As if she sensed his mood, Julie grasped his palm and stared at him before speaking, "Don't beat yourself up, there was nothing we could do, the best thing we can do now and what we owe Aunt Briggs is to ensure the successful escape and survival of as many persons as we can within the City of Hope."

Oron seemed to be nearby, he walked over and slapped Razel on his shoulder, causing him to glare at him, but before he could curse, Oron spoke, "Julie is right, we don't have time to shed tears, Razel... Aunt Briggs did what she thought was necessary, now it's our turn to ensure her efforts were not in vain..."

Irene also walked over as she looked at him and added, "That's right, chin up, and stare forward to the future, isn't that what she always said...?"

Razel seemed a bit dazed for a while, but he soon showed a look of firmness, he stared at everyone while tightly squeezing his fists as he spoke, "Your absolutely right, thanks for help guys."

"Haha, no problem, you've always been there for our backs," Oron said with a laugh.

Leo and the others nodded, Razel felt good that he could have friends like these, even in such a time they can carry a will of confidence and hope.

The severely wounded Mosquito General shouted in a loud tone. He suddenly appeared a few dozen meters away from the barrier, his body erupting with terrifying Blood Mana as the surrounding blood from a myriad of corpses flowed into his body, rapidly healing his wounds.

A few other Evolvers on watch jumped as they saw him appear, their faces transformed to fear as a commotion formed.

"What the hell? How is that devil not dead?" One person shouted in alarm.

"Hick! I... I can't do this, how are we to survive if they keep coming back like this?" Another person said in terror as they fell while trembling.

As more and more individuals cried out in horror, a few who looked at this with a bit of composure were none other than Leo's group.

"He didn't die from that assault, such a troublesome thing..." Oron said as he glared at him from behind the barrier.

Razel and the others thought to the same, as Razel's eyes boiled with killing intent. Leo looked at everyone and spoke, "It doesn't matter how he survived; he's only by himself so let's take him out together!"

"Right!" Razel and the others replied as everyone erupted with a dazzling amount of Genetic Power. They were about charge towards him, but right currently, there was a change.

"Gravity Surge!" A familiar female voice said as terrifying force crushed everything around the Mosquito General, forcing his already weakened self to smash into the ground.

"Who? Who dares?" The Mosquito General was about to curse as it didn't think it would be ambushed by anything, but even before it could recover itself and finish its words, another change occurred.

"Blazing Spear Rain!" A familiar male voice said as countless blazing spears appeared above the Mosquito General.

Leo and the others were shocked, but as if they knew what was going on, their faces brightened.

'It's Wilma, Wilma, and father, so father did survive the previous crash, thank goodness!' Leo thought with a surge of happiness, he was anxious that his father didn't survive, but it seemed that he was wrong.

Unlike Leo and the others, the Mosquito General was angry and worried, it spoke in alarm, "This... damn! Whose power is this?"

As it spoke, it tried its best to pick itself up, but due to its server wounds that had yet to recover completely, it couldn't even resist the gravity force.

In an instant, the blazing spears fell from the sky, leaving behind a few streaks of flaming lights as they descended towards him.

Knowing that he couldn't do anything to avoid this, the Mosquito General lifted its head with all of its power, its eyes glaring at the sky figures as he shouted, "CURSE YOU, HUUUMAAANS!"

Boom! An explosion of flames formed, burning the Mosquito General's figure into nothingness after a short while before fading, bringing a true end to its terror.

Those in the city upon seeing this cheered as many cried tears of joy, the two individuals in the sky looked at this in silence.

"It seems that we arrived quite late, Wilma," Milon said as he noticed the disaster around them, forcing him to sigh.

"There was nothing we could do, sir," Wilma replied with a sad look on her face.

Swoosh! Swoosh!

At this moment, Leo and the others, along with a few officials, had rapidly arrived nearby, they each had looks of joy on their faces as they spoke.

"We welcome back the City Head!" The official said.

"Father, I'm glad your back!" Leo said.

Milon waved his head as he spoke, "This isn't the time, tell me what happened here, how many losses do we have?"

The crowned remained silent as no one spoke for a while, Leo gritted his teeth and replied, "Father, it's a lot worse than it looks, when you left Aunt Briggs had already begun the evacuation procedure, and right now it should almost be over. To ensure this was a success, my party, along with few others fought to prevent the barrier from breaking, but even then it was fruitless, we lost over a hundred lives from various elites, and the biggest loss came from within the city."

Milon and Wilma had a bad feeling, they stared at the city and asked, "Who else was it did we lose to this horde?"

Leo hesitated but very much unexpectedly, Razel took the lead and spoke, "It was my mother, she used the forbidden chamber of the Gamma Cannons..."

"What?" Both Milon and Wilma exclaimed, they knew just how dangerous that was, and as such, everyone had cautioned off that zone.

'Damn! If only I had come a little sooner,' Milon cursed inwardly, but deep down, he knew that even if he came he wouldn't have been able to stop the entire horde.

Wilma also thought the same, but she said nothing but only stared at the city with a hint of pain in her eyes.

Everyone watched as Milon remained silent, after a short while. Milon calmed down, taking on the manner of a leader, he stared at Razel and spoke, "Razel, your mother did a noble thing, never forget her sacrifice as her efforts led to the survival of our kind."

Razel shed quite tears when he heard this; he lowered his head while replying, "Um,"

Leo and the others looked a Razel with pity in their eyes, but no one spoke, they knew this wasn't the time to do so.

Milon stared at the crowd and spoke, "Listen up, this isn't the time to wallow in despair or pity, we of Qeodreona aren't so easily broken, we can lose our land, we can lose our alleys, but never do we lose our fighting spirit!"

"Uaaaah!" The small crowd cheered as many lifted their hands above with their fists clenched tightly, they've been through much worse before so they knew that no matter the odds, so long as they never give up the will to battle, hope will come.

Milon stared at everyone's reinvigorated spirits with a smile; he looked at Wilma, who gave him a passionate look, as Leo and the others nodded.

"Good! Now everyone, let's hurry back the base and prepare to retreat with the others, the enemies are still plenty, and though we've beaten one, there's no telling that we won't..." Milon was about to say something, but right at this time, a sharp whizzing sound was heard. However, before anyone could realize where it came from, it was already too late.

Pu-chi! A resonant sound of flesh being pierced sounded as everyone looked at Milon with widened and shocked eyes, now a giant sharp object which looked no different from a nail had pierced through the center of his torso from his back.

Milon's eyes dimmed as a great amount of weakness formed over his entirety, but this wasn't the worse of it, as a voice spoke from the heavens.

"Oya? Now this unexpected, still alive after my attack, this human has quite the vitality..." One voice said.

"Haha, our mother was right, that Mosquito Witch was truly careless, now we can clean up the rest and claim all the credits for ourselves..." Another sinister voice said.

When everyone heard those voices, an utter sense of fear rose over their bodies, as Julie held onto Leo's arms while trembling, the sky now littered with a horde many times the size of the former army that would spell doom to any who saw it.
