Chapter 221: Evan VS The Mosquito Queen Marlin

Name:Ascenders Rift Author:ShadowsFinger
Ting! Bang! The sounds of blades clashing against each other followed by the sounds of boulders exploding, resounding across the entire range as the duo's energy wreaked havoc.

Looking at the scene more clearly, one would notice two blurry shadows that danced about the various peaks, each coated with their unique auras as they chopped their dual-wielded blades against each other.

Marlin moved like a graceful demoness, her lithe figure having an astonishing amount of flexibility and speed as she flickered about while swinging her blades that left remnant shadows as they cut towards Evan.

Evan, who was a notch slower, didn't try to compete with speed; he quietly eyed her movements and shifted his body accordingly, dodging a few as he raised his arms to parry the fluster of blade attacks rapidly.

As each of their blades collided, sparks would fly into the air as it created a beautiful yet destructive scene as the stray energies scattered across the entire range.

Suddenly, Marlin's body glowed in red lights as she gave Evan a cheeky look as she giggled and muttered, "Hehe, let's see you parry this one…" ;

Evan frowned, but before he could think about her strange actions, Marlin had shifted to the side and vanished, Evan's eyes narrowed as he sensed a dangerous power. His pupils instantly turned to the right, without even wasting a moment his muscles tensed in his right arm as he chopped the Havengaurd that had spiked with his Battle Energy towards the air.

Ping! Another loud crashing sound of metals resounded as sparks scattered about the void. The collision even sent a few rippling energies about the sky as both Evan and Marlin were locked in conflict. One of her Blood Mana Blade's had its tip pressed against the broadside of Evan's Havengaurd as it released her destructive Blood Mana power.

Evan used his Battle Energy to fight back against the power, causing the Havengaurd to shine in bright crimson lights.

With a snort, Evan swung his blade downwards, deflecting Marlin's powerful sword attack that sent out a ray of Blood Mana power towards the mountain below them.

Boom! A shocking explosion formed as the rocks below them went scattering about the area; the lights soon faded, revealing a massive hole in the surface of the mountain.

Having deflected her attack, Evan prepared to attack her with his Void Sword that shimmered in a cold ray as it cut through the air.

However, as if Marlin sensed it, her other arm rapidly moved and clashed her second Blood Mana Blade against it.

'Our stats are pretty much comparable with mine being a notch about hers except for my speed. If anything, her vastly superior amount of energy is what she's using to make up for our stat difference, but that has its disadvantages. The more she uses her power, the sooner she will grow exhausted,' Evan said with an in-depth look in his eyes.

Marlin, who had fallen back, wiped the blood from her mouth corners as she glared at Evan with a more serious look as she thought, 'This human... I really did underestimate him, he's far too strong for their kind, even a mutant amongst mutants. Hmph! To think I had to use so much of my Blood Mana to keep up with his physique, if this continues, I'll have lost this battle...'

As Marlin pondered to here, a cruel look came into her eyes as she concluded, 'It looks like I'll have to rely on that move..."

At this time, a sharp ray flickered in Evan's eyes when he noticed that Marlin was looking at him with a more severe look.

'Hmm... I don't know what she's plotting, but it's about time I end this battle, we still have to worry about those from the Insect Hive's Bee Unit and those Body Shifters....' Evan thought with a more severe expression. He already tested himself to a satisfactory degree, so he didn't need to waste any more time.

Bang! A towering crimson Battle Energy rose from around his being as Evan's hair flowed upwards. His manner now seemed no different from a devil that was ready to set loose his fury as he floated a bit from the nearby mountain while increasing his grip on both of his swords.

Marlin involuntarily trembled as she saw Evan's current state, but she didn't dare to hold back, she snorted and spoke in a mocking tone, "Pesky human, do you think that just by clashing with a few of my moves that you'll be able to defeat me? Hmph! You are sadly mistaken, Myriad Shadows Flight!"

The instant Marlin finished her words, her body that had been condensing her terrifying power began to glow as if blood-red lights shrouded her entirety. While this happened, her wings on her back flapped at an incredibly high frequency as now they weren't even visible to the naked eyes.

Following the current change, Marlin's body began to split apart in a series of clones that scattered about the open sky, each of which gave of a similar kind of power to herself before they blurred and vanished.

Evan had already scanned her details and knew of her skill, having experienced many battles in his previous life, he naturally knew what to expect.

An extremely dangerous sensation came over him as if he was surrounded by many extremely fast enemies that were about to assault him from all angles. However, Evan merely smiled as he tightened the grip on his sword with a confident gaze.

A few dozen clones of Marlin had appeared from all sides with a series of whooshing noises, each of them already a meters distance from Evan, they chopped their Blood Mana blades towards his body that left behind countless blood-colored arcs of lights.

Evan seemed to have eyes all around him as he swayed from left to right, narrowly dodging the blindingly fast attacks in a strange manner. ;

In fact, Evan was in no way fast enough to avoid this kind of speedy and furious assault, what was happening was a strange trick as he used the current master of his Void Manipulation talent to nudge the direction of Marlin's swords, pushing them off course with his Spiritual Power before he avoided them in a timely and efficient manner.

Suddenly, Evan's eyes flashed as he lowered his stance and dashed forward, moving like a blurry shade as he twisted from left to right while avoiding a few more blade attacks.

In moments, he had arrived before one of the Marlin's that looked at him in a panic as she chopped her sword. Yet, Evan merely snorted as he slashed both of his swords forward.

Bang! The force from his swords collision against Marlin who defended, caused her to fly backward. However, much to her surprise, all of the clones that flashed about the area had vanished.

Marlin, who quickly maneuvered by flipping in the air and stabilizing her posture, glared at Evan in shock as she spoke in alarm, "You... how did you see through my Myriad Shadows Flight?"

Marlin was naturally shocked and never had any opponents that she's faced since her awakening of consciousness that had so quickly broken her attack skill.

Evan didn't reply; he merely raised both of his swords, which seemed to have been gathering a terrifying amount of power.

While Marlin's Myriad Shadows Flight was a strong skill, it was not without its flaws. One was that it used a tremendous amount of Blood Mana power, and two, no matter how many clones appeared, they were only a remnant after images formed by her blood energies; as such, only one person needed to be targeted.

Naturally, this secret was something no one in this world should have known about, no one but the very man that stood before her eyes.

Evan smirked as he dashed forward and spoke, "You'll find out in hell... Executioner Slash!"

Following Evan's words, he chopped both of his swords towards Marlin, sending his destructive arcs of Battle Energy towards her.

Marlin was a bit distracted by her shock; by the time she noticed Evan's attack, the two crimson slash waves had already arrived.

"Oh noooo!" Marlin cried out in alarm as a feeling of death came upon her, she hurriedly tried to use more of her Blood Mana energy to boost her speed, but sadly, her attempt had failed as only a tiny amount was remaining.

"You darn, humaaaan!" Marlin viciously cried out as she chopped her Blood Mana blade towards the slash wave, putting up a last act of defiance.

However, even now, her act seemed to be fruitless as the two slash waves carried within them an unparalleled sharpness and endless power suffused with killing intent.

In an instant, the Blood Mana blades were split into pieces, and Marlin was similarly bisected into four halves. Her eyes carried a look of disbelief as she stared at the handsome brown-haired man that coldly glared at her as she fell from the sky into the pits of her previous destructive attacks…
