42 Definitely Her 3

I looked to my right and my eyes and Cedrick's met. He gave a nod, signifying a go ahead.

I turned my gaze back to the paper in front of me. Just as I was about to pen down my signature...

Boom!!!

We could feel the power surge all the way from here. I dropped the pen in my hand and stood up.

I glanced to my right and my eyes met similar gaze as mine, confusion.

Cedrick got up too as well as my ambassadors.

My gaze fell on the man sitting in front of me. King Regin, he got up as well, looking puzzled.

Something was not right.

"What just happened?" I directed my question at him.

"I should be asking you."

"Me?"

"Yes, that was definitely the work of magic or whatever. My people don't have magic."

"You have explosives too. Which I do not know where you got them from."

"What raw you trying to say? You think I am stupid enough to attack you on a peace treaty day?"

"It might well have just being your plan right from the start. Unfortunately, your goons didn't know we haven't signed yet."

"King Draco" the Crown Prince Terrence shouted my name.

"It is okay Terrence. If there is anyone not to be trusted, it is you. You killed my son and after everything, I try to make a peace treaty and you call me a liar?"

I felt a little bit bad at my choice of words, but still could I say I trusted them?

I turned and left my seat, Cedrick and my ambassadors followed behind.

Realizing this was going AWOL, he calmed down and called me back.

"King Draco" I bet he was tired of the war himself.

I stopped in my tracks and turned my head to him. "Yes?"

"The peace treaty?"

"I am sorry King Regin, but not until I know fully well what that was about just now, I cannot sign that. My people wouldn't attack, definitely not on a peace treaty day, you should check on your people, worry about them first before any peace treaty."

"So my people would attack?"

"I do not know, you know your people best. I made sure none of my people ventured towards the borders today."

"Obviously they did, if not, that... " he said pointing outside, "that wouldn't have happened" he emphasized his point.

"Okay. I would make you a deal, if my people are at fault here, I would compensate. But if your people are at fault here, how would you compensate?"

"Perhaps a marriage alliance to seal the treaty" he said looking at his son.

The young prince just stood there shocked. He quickly hid his expression and I felt a little pity for him. Well who am I to feel pity, he wanted a marriage alliance, with my daughter. I better hope for my people not to be the cause.

"Any other options?" I asked King Regina, then glanced over at the prince. He seemed a bit relived at first, but angry later.

Little did he know, I did think him good enough for Isadora but she had her heart to someone else.

"Okay, we would discuss this at another treaty."

"Good, you should go check on your people as I would mine."

I didn't wait for his response, I just rushed out. I had a bad feeling about all this and I just couldn't shake it off.

At first when we came out of the building I was a bit confused.

"Your majesty, where do we go? The palace to make plans and prepare for the worst or towards the the explosion?"

I looked up now, I could still feel the magic in the air. But my mind was too disturbed to make note of it.

"The palace, I need to make ready everything. This can be an all out war and we need to get ready. Head towards the palace and be as fast as the wind."

"Yes your majesty" they all chorused.

I got into the carriage with Cedrick the others rode on their horses and we began our journey on a high speed.

About an hour into the journey, my mind kept on disturbing me about that explosion. We were originally very far away from where the explosion erupted, so I couldn't feel much or know the type of magic.

Perhaps I was too afraid to ponder on it. If my people had indeed caused that and started a fight with the Elves, then there was all lot to be paid for and dearly.

"Your majesty" Cedrick called me, breaking me out of my train of thoughts.

"Yes Cedrick?" He was my trusted advisor and he has always been with me, through thick and thin. He was my best friend and he still is.

"What or who do you think they are that did such a thing amongst our people?"
