107 More Sly Than We Are

Void and Amelia stood back to back now, each facing their attacker. Their attacks matched each other and they seemed in harmony with their cooperation and fighting styles.

Their attackers were definitely on the losing side with such cooperation. Not long after they too got angry and attacked at once.

One swung his sword at Amelia, she dodged to the side, little did she know that he had a trick up his sleeve. He quickly turned, his stance was all deceptive, brought out a small dagger and stabbed at her side.

"Ahh!"

Amelia eyes widened with shock when she saw someone covering her. He quickly slashed with his sword at the assassin, causing him to dodge and take a step back.

"No!!"

The attackers jumped back and watched.

"Don't let them take him, get ready to fight. This is not a child's play!" He shouted at her, bringing her concentration back to the at the fight at hand.

"Alright, let's end this. You better not lose, or I would kill you myself."

From this angle she could see the side of his face and his look stunned her. She quickly shook her head, "Focus Amelia, time for some serious battle."

"What? You think you can take us on?"

"For an assassin, you sure a talkative," Amelia replied him, her eyes darkening as she became more serious.

"It is you who are... " but before he could complete his statement, Amelia and Void made a move and lounged at them.

The ferociousness of their attack was something the other assassins couldn't fathom.

They were quite skilled themselves but faced with such ferocity, they were outmatched.

Amelia and Void fought on, not giving their attackers any breathing space. Their movement and attacks were in sync with each other.

When one of them attack their opponent, they switch and attack the other, not giving them the time and opportunity to memorize their attacks.

When Amelia attacked her opponent, Void bent his back for her to roll over and attack the other, while he immediately changed fighting style and attacked the other assassin.

Their formation also changed most times, it was as though their minds were connected. They could read each other's attack before hand and so were a perfect match, coupled with their unparalleled speed.

"We're not evenly matched, good thing it would soon take effect," the first assassin thought.

Within two minutes, their attacks began to slow down as their bodies weakened. Their opponents now had an opportunity to fight back. It was now an even match.

COUGH!!

All of a sudden Void coughed and spat out blood. Himself and Amelia took several distance from the men.

Amelia staggered in ber steps but Void quickly gripped her hand to steady her.

Void clutched his chest with his free hand as he felt pain spread through his chest and a pull near his heart.

He fell on one knee and placed a hand on the ground to supoirt his weight.

"You snake!" Amelia spat.

"Tsk, tsk, tsk!! Nah you were not cautious enough. You may be skilled, even better than us but you are not more sly than we are," the mouthy assassin said as a cold smile spread across his face.

She reached into her pouch and brought out a small vial, then handed it over to Void. "Drink!"

He hesitated a bit, but the look in her eyes made him stop thinking and took it from her.

He corked the lid open, in one swift move, he emptied the liquid into his mouth and swallowed.

"If there is one thing, no one is more sly than I am."

As she finished speaking, she curved her lips to the side in a cocky smile.

Void looked at her from the side, she looked so confident, he could swear she had something up her sleeves.

Within a minute of drinking the content of that vial, his complexion started changing, he no longer felt the pain and and the tug he felt surrounding his heart.

"How could she have known the poison and antidote?" Void thought

"You really are a... " the mouthy assassin hadn't finished speaking when suddenly the he coughed out a mouthful of blood.

The second assassin followed suit, spraying the cold ground with red, as the blood poured out from his mouth.

At the same time, the second soldier that Princess Cyrena sent, arrived at the scene.

"You!" Amelia called out to the soldier, "Capture him, do not let him escape or you would pay dearly," she said pointing at Mr Brandon who was squirming away from them.

"I won't. Halt there," he yelled at Mr Brandon as he stalked closet to him.

"Damn it, I paid so much and yet this is how it ended. I am doomed," he muttered to himself.

The soldier got to where Mr Brandon was on the ground and dragged him up.

"You, when did you...?" The mouthy assassin said as he took two steps backward.

"Did you not crown yourself as the most sly? You should be careful when facing a foe, never underestimate the power of a woman."

"B–But the poison from the dagger, how come it didn't affect you and affected him only?" The first assassin finally spoke.

"True, there is no sign of the poison taking effect in her," the mouthy assassin spoke and half smiled. "Sly!"

"That's because I took an antidote."

"Truely sly, you poisoned us, but when did you, bitch?"

"You still have the mouth to speak vile words. Simple, I sprayed it in the air, all you had to do was inhale it, breathing naturally," she explained.

"You have got to be kidding me, then the vial just now... Meaning her poison affected me too. A colorless, odourless, poison, this girl shouldn't be taken lightly."

As he watched her from the corners of his eyes, he had a new found respect for her. An assassin vast in poisoning and skilled with the sword was truly the most sly.

"You must be better now," she said to Void, without sparing him a glance, "It's time to end this."
