160 The Traitor Elf 2

CHAPTER 160

"Brother?!" Avery said in disbelief.

Her hand holding her sword hung limply by her side. Her eyes narrowed and her brows creased as she looked at the person in front of her.

Who was she seeing right now?

"Your Highness!"Lieutenant Callum called out.

Everyone stopped what they were doing and turned to face the scene, including the soldiers lead by Aelfedene, Flynn and Cleon.

"Your Highness?"

"Prince Blade!"

"What is going on, My Prince?"

Everyone had a look of confusion right now. They were perplexed. Avery couldn't explain it either, it shocked her big time. What was her brother doing here? Why is the prince a traitor?

Upon hearing all of them address him as the Prince, Astrid stood frozen on her spot…

'WHAT!' her head felt like it would explode any second from then.

Jareth made a sign with his fingers and took the opportunity to run past Avery as she was distracted by what he did. Soon he was standing at a distance, in front of Astrid.

He brought his hand holding the sword in front of his face and took his fighting stance. Astrid didn't know what to make of the situation. She simply stared blankly at the man standing in front of her.

It was Avery who broke the silence first. "You are not my brother," she announced almost immediately. "Blade would never betray his people and your fighting style is different from his."

"That is true. I think he is a look-alike of the Prince. This is just purely coincidence," Aelfdene added.

"Then meaning, the Prince Blade that showed up previously in the forest wasn't actually the Prince?" Lieutenant Flynn asked.

Jareth did not know what to say to them. The look in his eyes only held anger right now. He was vexed at the fact that they had hurt her.

"Oh, I see. He is a traitor and an imposter. How dare you try to impersonate the royal Prince?" Cleon yelled at Jareth.

"No need asking questions. We must first capture them and take them back with us to the palace," Aelfdene suggested.

'This is bad.' Jareth thought.

Astrid's mind finally calmed down a bit when they clarified he wasn't the Prince, but she was still skeptical about it.

Avery got herself back and declared her order. "Capture them alive no matter what the cost," she declared.

The once immobilized soldiers all swung into action and attacked.

"Jareth, save Little White-Fire first. I would handle them myself," she said taking a couple of steps forward.

"Astrid, you are in no condition to fight."

"Neither can you take on almost three hundred soldiers on your own. I have my powers to as an advantage. Go!"

"I said I would protect you."

"But, Jareth…"

"Don't wait for him, attack all at once," Aelfdene ordered.

Astrid turned to her side and controlled the earth beneath the feet of the two soldiers attacking White-Fire, making the ground give way under their feet. Catching them by surprise, they fell forward, with part of their legs stuck in the ground.

Little White-Fire made its way past them and rushed to her side. She closed her eyes and controlled her powers, reaching for that familiar tug and feeling them on her fingertips.

In no distant time, she erected several earthen men to assist Jareth, giving each a sword made of earth. As she finished with that, her left hand was already raising up their vines that began attacking the soldiers.

The archers amongst them didn't relent and sent several arrows flying at her. Her eyes were void of any form of pity. It showed a pained and angry girl. Her hands lifted up in mid-air to block the incoming train of attacks fired at her.

She erected a barrier to prevent the arrows from making home with their target, her. As soon they got close to her and touched the barrier, the arrows turned around and headed straight at the soldiers.

Some of the soldiers quickly dodged the rain of arrows, while some used their sword to fend off it's the poisonous arrows.

Soon the battle became intense as the fight carried on. Jareth was handling his situation quite well. He fought against many of the soldiers on his own, while Astrid and little White-Fire handled the rest.

Princess Avery and Callum faced two of the earthen men and fought with their might, still they weren't defeated. The earthen men prevented them from going after Astrid. She already had enough of their situation.

The only way for them to completely defeat the earthen men was to defeat its controller. She needed to take out Astrid before any more damage came to her soldiers.

She and Callum came together, back facing each other as they stared intensely at the earthen men.

"Lieutenant, cover me. I am going for the hybrid."

"Yes, Your Highness."

Callum and Avery got ready their swords and ran forward at the men. They fought with the two earth men at once. The fierceness in their attacks, caused the earthen men to take several steps back.

He took hold of this opportunity and half squatted. "Princess Avery!" She moved back and ran toward him. As soon as she stepped on his back, he pushed himself up giving her the needed boost and push she needed.

Avery flew up in the air, heading past the earthen men and straight or Astrid. One of the earthen men reacted on time and swung its sword at her. Unfortunately, it missed and she stepped on it with a foot instead, using its sword as a push.

Successfully she escaped them, landing on the ground far from them. Callum smiled at her escape, but his joy as short as the second earthen man lounged for him. He barely dodged its sword by an air's breathe and attacked back.

Avery quickly picked up a bow and some arrows then strung them, aiming for the distracted Astrid.

Astrid turned her head to her side only to see Avery aiming an arrow at her.

SWOOSH!

She moved her right hand towards the arrow and stopped it in mid-air and sent it back at her. Avery raised her left hand and stopped it from moving forward. Both girls didn't let go and controlled the arrow.

Astrid pushed it forward and Avery moved it back. At this point, the arrow was moving to and fro in mid-air. 'Enough of this.' Astrid said inwardly. With her left hand, she controlled a sword and sent it right at Avery. Avery blocked it with her sword and her concentration on the arrow broke.

It moved in accordance with Astrid's control and pierced Avery's thigh.

"Urrgh!"

A victorious smile spread across Astrid's face. With her dishevelled hair and blood-stained lips, she looked more endearing and beautiful.

COOH!

Astrid coughed and spat out a mouth full of blood. She fell with one knee to the ground as she clutched at her side, where she was pierced with the sword.

She had almost forgotten that she was poisoned by the arrow. Luckily for her, her powers helped slow than its spread. Unfortunately, she had been using her powers nonstop now, thus speeding the spread a little bit. If she wanted the spread to stop, she had to stop using her powers and focus on healing herself.

It was Avery's turn to smile next. "It was about time the poison took effect. It should have since and prevented us the stress of fighting with you. Now all that remains is to tie you up."

"You're one to talk. You are in no different condition than I am."

"Don't lump me in with you," Avery replied. Ignoring the pain, she lounged for Astrid.

Astrid quickly got up and formed an ice sword. Just as Avery's sword came crashing down, she raised hers and blocked her.

Avery pressed down on her sword and Astrid's, forcing Astrid to half kneel at the sudden weight. And due to her injury, she couldn't hold on against Avery for long. Rather, she removed a hand from her ice sword and pulled on the arrow stuck in Avery's thigh.

Avery yelled in pain as Astrid turned and twisted the arrow. Blood oozed out from the exposed flesh the moment Astrid pulled the arrow out with force. "Ahh!!"

She raised her other leg and kicked at Astrid's stomach, but Astrid fell backwards, evading her kick and finally separating their swords.

From the corner of his eye, Jareth could see that Astrid was in a dire situation. Avery took a step forward, ready to impale her sword on Astrid's thigh. Till now she refused to let go of her powers and was losing more strength by the minute.

He used his leg to kick a sword off the ground, making the other elves move back a bit ad threw it at Avery. Sensing the sword coming, Avery moved back and avoided the hit.

Jareth fought the soldiers close buy, injuring them and ran towards her direction. Astrid used this opportunity to stand up and turned her gaze to Jareth. Before she could mouth thanks, he yelled at her.

"Let go of your powers and take little White-Fire with you and run!"

The soldiers didn't give him a break as they pursued after him. He had to stop and face them off, so Astrid and little White-Fire could make a run for it.

Astrid turned her head to look at the only trouble left, the annoying Princess.

"You're not going anywhere."
