162 Is Someone Getting Jealous and Overprotective Here?

CHAPTER 162

As Astrid fell through the dense trees, she landed on the ground. The ground was in form of a slope and she found herself rolling down on the dirt, till she entered into a tunnel and eventually stopped when the ground was flat.

"Urghh!" She groaned at the pain that coursed through her body. That was one heck of a fall she had.

"CHOO! CHOOH!"

She coughed, trying to clear her throat from the dust she inhaled through all these rukus.

"My bones feel shattered," she lamented. Soon after that, she heard a sound coming from the direction she fell from.

The dust increased as the sound drew closer to her.

Rumble!

"Whoa aa-aa aaa…" little White-Fire screamed as it rolled down the slope and finally came to a stop in front of her.

Astrid managed to get up and made her way to the little beast. "Little White-Fire, y–you are alright. You are okay dear."

Her voice came out shabby and weak, but it emitted joy and relief. She was happy that her beast companion followed after her but she had got to admit, that was too risky.

It followed her no matter what the danger was. They would not have guessed where or what that place lead to, but it did jump with her irrespective.

"Master, how are you? Are there any new injuries as a result of the fall? You did have quite a fall just now."

"And so did you, silly. You jumped right after me."

"Well, I have to protect you," its small voice came off rather confident as it spoke to her. "You should be more careful, Master."

"Yes, I know," she replied the little cub and leaned down to pat its head when she felt the sharp pain at her side.

"Ahh!"

"You should sit first. I am not a child anymore you know."

"Hahaha," she managed to let out pained laughter. "I wonder if he has escaped."

"Jareth!"

Rumble!

They heard a rumbling noise coming from the entrance accompanied by a thick cloud of dust. Before Astrid could react and move away, something fell on her and knocked her unconscious.

"Urghh!"

The dust settled and finally cleared, revealing two people on top of each other. Astrid was below and Jareth was on top of her.

Little White-Fire stood speechless staring at the scene in front of it. It waited for either of them to get up but none did.

"Astrid! Master, get up! Jareth is back," it said to her through her mind but there was still no response.

It rushed closer and used its head to nudge Jareth and Astrid. Astrid did not respond still, only Jareth did.

"Urghh, my head hurts," he muttered.

He felt he was on something and finally blinked to clear his vision. He first saw little White-Fire at his side and his eyes fully opened when he saw the beast staring right back at him.

'What did I land on? Wait a minute, soft chest and slim body. Oh my… Astrid!'

He immediately got up from her body and kneeled at her side. "Astrid, come on wake up."

No reply.

"Astrid."

He called out for the second time but she still did not respond. His gaze left her pale face and went to the small beast at the side.

Little White-Fire shook its head at Jareth. It was trying to communicate with the elf and Jareth could catch a cue from it.

"Oh right, the poison is taking so much effect already. She would not be able to heal on her own."

He reached into his pants pocket and suddenly brought something out. A vial! He held it up for inspection first to make sure it was the right thing first before giving it to her.

'Thank goodness I could snatch this from the General. It will save her.'

Jareth brought the vial to his mouth and used his teeth to uncork the lid. With his free hand, he gently opened her mouth to pour the blue liquid inside.

He had put in a small portion when it slid out from the corners of her lips. Left with no other option, he emptied the content in his mouth.

Little White-Fire was about protesting when it saw him bend and leaned in closer to her lips.

'What is he doing taking advantage of my Master like that? I better stop him.'

But before it could react, Jareth already pressed his lips to Astrid's. He gave her the antidote through a kiss, letting it slip into her mouth and ensuring it did not pour out.

When he was sure she had swallowed it, he pulled away but not before tasting and kissing her bottom lip.

He moved away and lightly sat on his legs as his gaze lingered on her face. She looked better now. In just a span of seconds, her complexion was getting better. It was no longer as pale as before.

He leaned in again and this time little White-Fire reacted. It thought he was going to take advantage of its master again and protested before he did.

It barred its teeth at Jareth and flared its wings in a protectively and defensive manner.

'Really now! Is someone getting jealous and overprotective here?' he sighed at the thought.

It wasn't like he was going to take advantage of her, he just wanted to carry her. He raised his hands in surrender at the beast and looked at it with a weak smile.

"I am not taking advantage of her," he explained, but little White-Fire was not buying it. "Before, I only gave her the antidote and nothing more."

He knew he left out a tiny detail and lied to the little cub, but he wasn't about telling it that he sucked her lips now, was he?

"I only want to take to rest somewhere better. We are at the center of the path in the tunnel and this is not good," he added.

Little White-Fire finally let its wings down and gave a nod, approving of Jareth's intentions, but the sharp gaze he gave Jareth did not change one bit.

Jareth leaned in again then scooped Astrid in his arms and stood up. Little White-ire moved closer to him as they walked further into the tunnel.

The tunnel was very dark and it became hard to see, but with little White-Fire's flame it spat on the ground occasionally, it made it quite easier to see.

The place looked more like a cave, with small dents at some specific parts of its side, making for a small hideout or a resting place.

Jareth continued carrying her till they found a better place to rest. It was more hidden and had a bigger space to fit three people.

He gently laid her on the ground, using her bag as a pillow for her before moving to the opposite side to sit down.

He was tired. He used up lots of strength fighting all the Elven soldiers earlier on and the jump, made him weaker. It was a miracle he didn't break his leg or have a concoction after that fall.

Luckily for him, he fell on a tree and from there, he managed to come down. It was unfortunate for him when he got to the slope as he slipped and came rolling into the tunnel.

Jareth wanted to rest but he needed to stop the bleeding at her side first. Her gown was already stained with her blood, turning the green fabric into a crimson red.

He needed to do something fast lest she lost more blood. He searched his bag for any clean cloth and found one.

He was lucky to have taken some water with him from the forest peak and decided to use it to clean her wound.

He brought the water gourd out and stopped when he was some inches away from her body. He had one problem. She was wearing a gown and it was not appropriate for him to see her body.

But this was a different case. She was hurt.

He cast one look at the little cub first before proceeding with anything. He was shocked at what he saw. The little beast was yawning itself away as its eyes drooped closed.

'Well, it still is a cub and tires out fast. Lucky for me, it would not eat me up for what I am about to do.' He thought and smiled inwardly.

"What!" Aelfdene, Cleon, and Flynn said at once.

"The vial with me broke during the fight," Callum replied the shocked men.

"What of yours Flynn?" Cleon turned his gaze to Flynn and asked.

"Yes, yes. I should have one."

He searched his pocket but could not find anything. His mind went back to the fight with the traitor elf, Jareth and his eyes darkened. "He stole it. Damn it and I didn't notice it up until now."

"It might be too late if we were to take her back to the palace," Aelfdene added.

"Oh no! His Majesty would kill us if anything happens to the princess."
