184 We Must Exact Revenge

CHAPTER 184

"Regin! Until when would you be like this?!" she yelled at him.

He didn't speak and neither did Terrence. The last thing Terrence wanted was to butt in on his parents' fight.

Aelinor got up swiftly and stared daggers at her husband.

"I warned you, You said she was going to be fine. Now look…" Her gaze darted towards her lying daughter.

"She is going to fine, Aelinor. She is a princess. Give her that at least."

"How can you say that to a mourning mother."

"Who are you mourning? Your daughter isn't dead!" Regin said, his eyebrows furrowed and his hands raised and pointed at his daughter to show his point.

"Not Avery. Your son. I haven't forgotten and I never will. So please I do not want to lose another child."

"You won't lose her. Besides, it was her decision. Respect that, Aelinor."

"Ave… "

She got cut short when Terrence finally intervened, hushing them.

"Father! Mother! Avery needs to rest and recuperate. Not for you both to disturb her rest. Please, mother. We are well affected as well. Do not take it out on father, he cares for us as well."

"Terrence," Regin said with a calm voice, his eyes dropping to a close as his chest heaved up and down.

He was damn tired of all their bickering and wished for them to stop. "For crying out loud, think of Avery, she doesn't need this right now," he added, stepping forward away from the wall.

"I am doing this for Avery. Look at your sis…"

Once more, her words got cut back when she gestured towards Avery and saw that her daughter had her eyes opened.

"Avery!"

She blinked her eyes weakly as she stared at the three people who now stood face to face with her in front of the bed.

"Mother… Brother… Father…" Her voice trailed off weakly as her eyes darted to each of them.

They were all still shock. No one had expected her to be up so soon. Unknown to them, their bickering really did wake her up.

With both hands on the bed, she tried to sit up but winced in pain instead. Terrence and King Regin moved first, rushing to her side and held her shoulders down.

"No, Avery. You need to rest. The poison may be out of your system but don't forget it stayed days in your system. You need proper rest for a speedy recovery." Regin's eyes flickered with warmth and concern at his daughter.

She gave her father a nod and then turned her attention over to Terrence. "Brother, I am sorry. Sorry to cause you to be worried," she apologized to him, her eyes blinking, giving him her sorry, babyface.

"Say no more, Avery. Your scolding will come later." Terrence face lit up with a smile as he teased her.

"Brother! How can you scold a patient?" She blinked her puppy eyes as she questioned him.

"And what of mother? Don't you want to see me?" Aelinor asked her with tears gathering in her eyes as she stared at her daughter.

"Mother," her eyes lowered, fearing to look at her mother's eyes, "I am sorry," she apologized softly.

"I won't scold you, Avery. I am glad that you are okay."

At her mother's words, her eyes shot up as she looked into her mother's perfect green ones. Eyes that looked exactly like her own, the very same she inherited.

"I know you love Blade so much and I love you, but do understand that every one of us cares about you."

"Yes mother, understood. It won't happen again."

"I told you she would be fine, Aelinor. My baby girl is strong."

Aelinor shot a cold glare his way, making Regin gulp the moment he looked at her cold eyes.

"Mother, ease up on father please," Avery begged her mother. Her hand raised to her chest and joined together in a pleading fashion.

"Avery, this is between him and me. You should not bother yourself and relax."

"Good, then let us take it outside. She needs all the rest in the realm," Regin quickly added to her word's and reached for her hand.

Aelinor stepped back, her eyes, cold as she eyed his hands that came close to touching her.

'What would I do with them? Brother, if only you were here. Your death caused a rift in the loving family and tore everyone apart. This is why Fortland and the hybrid must pay. We must exact revenge.' Terrence thought internally.

His brows furrowed at his thoughts and unknowingly he clenched his fist so tight.

"Terrence!"

It was not until Avery called his name and held his clenched fist, that he realized what he did.

"What is wrong?"

"Oh, it is nothing. Be rest assured. I just recalled something. Not a major issue, okay?"

She nodded and replied to him, "If you say so."

"I would make her pay for what she did to you," Terrence added, his gaze fierce and sharp.

She knew her brother meant his words and she smiled to herself.

"Terrence, come. Let us allow her to be for now," Regin called out, walking towards the door, with Aelinor behind him.

"Bye!" He waved at Avery and followed after his parents.

~ELVEN FOREST – TUNNEL~

Jareth and Snow finally found a place that was beast free for Astrid to rest and gently placed her down. Snow didn't waste any time in spitting out its fire on the ground to warm Astrid up.

By this time, she was already shivering from the cold her powers enveloped her in. Her teeth gnashed as she curved up in Jareth's arms.

Slowly, he set her down against the wall and removed her cloak, using it as a mattress for her. Removing their bags, he kept it against the wall to her side and pulled off his own cloak.

Carefully, he went over to her and picked her up, taking her to lie down on her spread cloak on the ground.

By the time she lied down, her body still shook terribly from the loss of warmth his body provided her.

He turned to look at the little White Tiger-Phoenix beast and the moment his eyes met with the cub's, Snow's her eyes widened at the sight in front of it.

"What?!" Jareth asked in alarm, turning his head back to check if there was any danger lurking around.

He didn't see anything and returned his gaze back to the cub. Snow shook its head and raised his paw, pointing it at Jareth's chest. His head went down as his eyes looked at what the beast pointed at.

His eyes widened in shock as he stared at his chest. His skin shone a bright red burnt mark. It was obviously due to holding her so close when she was very hot.

He hadn't noticed she burnt him until now. Although he felt pain there, but whenever she turned cold, he would feel a slight relief from it and pain when she became hot.

So, he didn't have much thought about it till Snow pointed it out.

Needless to say, he moved closer to where Astrid laid on the ground and went to lie beside her.

Snow was about protesting as it would only do more damage later, but he ignored the beast and pulled her closer to his body, enveloping her with his warmth.

Snow spat several flame balls on the ground around them, to keep them warm while Jareth picked his cloak and used it to cover both of them.

The little beast walked up to them and settled itself beside Astrid as its eyes dropped close to sleep.

"I am here, don't be scared. It's all over now. We are safe. Control it, Astrid, control it," he whispered lovingly to her and tightened his arm around her.

After several breaths, Jareth also went to sleep, with Astrid in his arms.

~HUMAN KINGDOM~

At the dead of night, the wind howls and the trees around bows, dancing to an unknown rhythm. The doors of every house swiftly closed and windows shut as everyone retired for the night.

The streets were lonely save for a few persons, one or two at dark corners in different alleys, drinking, smoking and having fun.

Down a narrowed street, in one of the alleys, stood a house proud and small in the dark, it was a workshop, a place for sealing weapons to be precise.

The windows of the shop closed down as a pair of hands, pulled them shut. Somewhere not too far on one of the houses around, a figure clad in all black trousers and a long-sleeved shirt, watched carefully.

Swoosh!

Another figure landed on the roof where the other person stood. Swiftly the first, presumably a girl, from her curves and shape, turned around and took her stance, ready to attack.

The second raised his hand in surrender as he stared at the face of the lady. He couldn't see her face clearly due to the mask, but from her exposed eyes, he could tell who she was.

"I come in peace," he said, raising his hands in surrender.
