314 The Reason Why

CHAPTER 314

No longer hearing the screams from her, Jareth felt like his heart stopped beating and he watched as she calmed down eventually.

"Remind me when all this is done to give her a sound warning never to disobey me." Jareth turned to Snow and spat those words out sharply.

She almost gave him a heart attack. He just could not believe her right now.

Snow rolled his eyes at him one more time, before assuming his puppy eyes look and pulling at Jareth's trouser.

After some seconds of tugging at his trouser, Jareth finally gave in when he noticed he was just the one being paranoid about the whole situation.

He made his way towards where they were seated before and watched on. He was so mad at Astrid right then that he decided not to move a muscle if she screamed again or her powers go out of control.

She was just a stubborn girl who needed to be tamed and taught a lesson, but how could he do that? It wasn't as though he could turn her around and spank her or actually beat her, she was an adult for crying out loud.

Left with no other choice, his eyes narrowed at her, betraying his words as he watched her every move. He cared too much about her to actually just let her go even though she was as stubborn as a mule.

After her memories came flooding back in, Astrid had the time to recall everything one after the other as it played before her like a television screen.

She watched as she let herself be overtaken by her anger thinking it was just little but it turned into something bizarre. That was not what got to her but the fact that even though she wanted to hurt Jareth, he still rushed and hugged her nonetheless.

Her heart felt enveloped by a warm sensation from his gesture. She could see in his eyes that there was no trace of fear, rather what was there was only care and worry.

He was worried, confused about what happened and what to do, all the while worried he made her so.

Astrid as watched ash she burned him and felt him wince from the pain but he still her close. Even when he kissed her with the imminent danger in his wake, Jareth did not let go.

She felt so touched by all he did and felt a stinging pain in her heart. She did not know why she was sad when she should be happy by how much he cared for her, but the next thing, she felt her cheeks wet from her tears, as they flowed freely and washed over her.

"And you think he doesn't love you? He may not say it but it speaks through his actions." White-Fire's voice broke into her mind and reminded her of what she should know.

After replaying everything in her mind, it stopped and she was once more brought to a dark and empty place in her mind but this time she was no longer alone and White-fire was with her.

"From all, you have seen, what can you deduce?"

"Exactly. And lately, I can feel your emotions go deep in the sense that whenever you feel any emotion, be it sadness, anger, joy, pain, it gets t the extreme and it shouldn't be so."

"True. Even just now when I felt touched by what he did, my heart ached and yearned and I started crying. Then what should have made me angry a bit, turned into a raged war version of myself."

Neither of them spoke, but let the silence enshroud them in her mind, letting the information shared, sink in.

"When did it all start?" White-fire asked her.

"If I recall correctly, I think after we started relaxing on our journey when we crossed over to the land of the sorcerers."

"Ate you serious with what you are saying?" White-Fire's tone suddenly became more deep and serious than before.

"Yes. Why? You felt it too?"

"I sensed it but I could not really tell exactly where you were. If that is the case, then it only means one thing."

"What is that?"

"Your escalated emotions and power going out of control can only be linked to the land. You have stepped into the land of your heritage. Your powers recognize it."

"Whoa!"

"Yes. It would make more sense now. Even though this was a barren and destroyed land once, due to the war, your powers still know their root and they are calling you to it. It is like they want to speak to you and that is why your emotions are easily twitched."

"Calling to me?" Astrid was a little bit confused at first but now, things were starting to clear up more than before and a smile curved up her face.

Letting out a soft chuckle, she raised both hands in front of her face and stared at them with bewilderment.

"Then that would mean that my powers too might have increased."

"I do not know about that, but there is every likely possibility that it is so." White-fire could see the anticipation in her eyes and knew that she was every bit as excited as the smile that appeared on her face, reaching her eyes.

Even then, she could see how Astrid's emotions easily escalated first hand.

Astrid was happy for so many reasons. First, it was proof that she was drawing closer to her kingdom even though she did not know where it was and perhaps with her powers, she would be able to sense it no doubt.

Secondly, it was also proof that the land recognized her as one of its own. Thirdly, she could feel a sudden gust of energy whelp up in her as though she became lighter.

A part of her was itching to put the said theory to a test but she knew better than to do that.

"Take it easy Astrid. You still are new to these feelings. Anything, I repeat, anything and everything can happen just from a small spark."

"I will."
