348 Nerissa's Confrontation: Say The Truth

CHAPTER 348 – SAY THE TRUTH

"Get away from her you traitor."

Hearing Nerissa's words, Astrid blinked in confusion. "Aunt Nerissa!"

Everyone was confused by the sudden change of event. No one had expected for such a turnout and Astrid was even more perplexed.

Where were all these coming from? Weren't they passed that now?

"What do you mean by that? Jareth is not a traitor. You got it all wrong." Astrid tried her best to defend him. She knew him and she had come to love him.

Many a time he had risked so much for her without second thoughts, just how can he be a traitor? Nerissa was getting it all wrong.

Or was it that she was doing that to get him not to come with them? Astrid thought but she quickly marched forward to meet her aunt and request the meaning of this madness.

All these whose, Jareth neither spoke nor moved from where he stood, his eyes faltered and his head hung low. He was getting tired of these.

"If you think I am lying Astrid, then ask him the meaning of this." As she spoke, Astrid halted and squinted her eyes at her aunt's stretched out arm.

"What is going on, aunt? What are you holding?" Astrid questioned her aunt.

"Ask him. Ask the elf what is the meaning of this message?"

Confused, Astrid turned back to look at Jareth. "What is she talking about?" There was no answer, all he did was to stare at her aunt.

"Okay, if you do not want to talk, i would make things easier for you."

All heads looked in her direction and Nerissa said some spells and a white light like sparkles fell from her free hand.

The next thing everyone knew, something appeared and fell to the ground.

"Thunder!"

Jareth screamed and moved forward but before he could get to where Nerissa stood, he raised her hands in front of her and he halted in his steps.

"Thunder?" Astrid was confused. Thunder was Jareth's messenger bird and the last she had seen him was when they newly met and he had sent him on an errand to his father.

That was when she also tampered with his letter and sent it. Since then she had neither seen the bird nor heard Jareth speak about it.

So why now was a bird that should have been left back in the ELven kingdom now wandering in the sorcerer's land? Those were the thoughts that were clouding her mind and she began thinking things twice.

"Jareth,"

"Let him go." Jareth said in a cold voice, earning a dry laughter from Nerissa.

"As you wish." She waved her hand and Thunder was set free, quickly he flew to Jareth and nestled himself on his owner's shoulders.

"Jareth, what is going on? Why is Thunder here?' Astrid asked him. Her eyes had begun to sink in their sockets as they darted to and fro between her aunt and him.

"Astrid..."

"

She honestly wanted him to talk, speak, just say something and rebuke all her aunt's claims, but he kept shut and watched on.

Didn't he know that his silence was killing her? Didn't he?

"Brother, we would be journeying to Fortland tomorrow, delay your attack."

A very short word man, i mean elf. Always had a knack for few words.

The words Nerissa spoke were like heavy lead to Astrid's ears. Her brain felt like they would malfunction any moment from then.

"No."

Normally, Astrid would have taken that as a message to his brother and father like he did back then but not this time.

This time the message was different and having a very complicating story to it. The words attack already said it all.

And now, all the pieces were coming together.

Astrid darted her gaze to her side to look at the one she wished did not do what she just heard. As soon as their gaze locked on each other, she could see the regret and pain in his eyes.

Jareth opened his mouth to speak but Nerissa was faster.

"I think you have lied to her enough. Just who are you, really?"

"Astrid, let me explain. Things are not what they seem."

"Liar. All lies! Say the truth." Nerissa confronted his words.

"Please, listen to me. I would never hurt you."

"Then explain why there is an imperial seal on the paper." Nerissa attacked him with her words again.

"What?" Astrid and Snow shouted at the same time. The disbelief and hurt were waging ware in her heart.

Nerissa on the other hand, was not planning on giving him any room to lie and he knew there was hardly anything he could do to explain or make her believe him except she trusted him.

"I am not sending that to endanger you. I am only doing that to protect you..."

SWOOSH!

"Aahh!"

"No~" Jareth yelled and turned his head to the direction the arrow came from. "They are here."

Astrid cried out and clenched her left arm. An arrow was shot at her followed by a small pin.

"Master." Snow immediately hurried over to where Astrid was, before he could get to her, three other arrows were shot in front of him.

Nerissa whipped her head to look at the enemy and saw a bunch of elves crossed the grasses to where they were, cornering them.

"Elves!" She took her stance quickly and both her palms began to glow with a white light.

"Sorceress." Terrence called out. He had said that more as an acknowledgment to himself that they were indeed complete than as a spite the way Nerissa thought and said hers.

He moved his gaze to Astrid who was now looking weak and saw her pull out the arrow and pin. Then he let his gaze trail to the person standing by her side and his eyes met with his, the one person he had yearned to see for a very long time.
