After he received the message from DX, Han Ye spent the night packing and by early morning, he arrived at the city that Kai Xin used to live in.
To disguise himself, he drove an old and cheap car.
Without any delay, the first thing he did was to visit Kai Xin's high school, "Elite High School".
As he stood outside a house, he went through the files he gathered previously.
According to his information, the current Principal was the Vice Principal from when Kai Xin was still studying there.
In addition, Han Ye knew that the Principle, Mr. Dai, was devoted to his work and his students.
Hence, he would be one of the best people to get the information from.
When Mr. Dai first saw Han Ye, he could barely recognized him.
It took him a while before he invited him in. As he greeted him politely, he asked, "Mr. Han, how may I help you today?"
"I'm here doing background research for one of our new hires. Mr. Dai, do you know a Zhen Kai Xin? According to her resume, she studied her 12-14 years ago."
The man thought for a while, "Zhen Kai Xin... Zhen Kai Xin..."
To jog his memory, Han Ye added, "She mentioned that she has a brother who studied here as well. If I remember correctly, his name is Kai An."
When he heard the name, he seemed to recall something. Searching through his bookshelf, he took out a yearbook and flipped to the Student of the Year page.
"Year 1, Student of the Year, Zhen Kai Xin," said Mr Dai as he handed the yearbook to Han Ye.
He pointed to the photo of Kai Xin and said, "When you mentioned her brother, that was when I recalled. Kai An was one of our best students and he used to talk about his sister."
As Han Ye was going through the yearbook, Mr. Dai added proudly,
"Our school accepts only students who excel in every aspect. The two siblings were two of the best scholarships students we ever had. Not only were their results outstanding, but they were also both athletic."
Han Ye glanced at him and asked, "During her interview, Ms. Zhen mentioned that she transferred to another school. Do you know why?"
Mr. Dai paced around the room as he tried to answer him, "If I'm not wrong, she transferred in her second year. It was a real pity."
He glanced wryly at Han Ye.
"She was the youngest and one of over best debater. Thanks to her, we made it to the final round of the National Debaters Competition. I tried to make her stay until the end of the competition but she was adamant to move."
He looked up at the photo of his late wife which was hanging on the wall. With a sigh, Mr. Dai added,
"Truth be told, it was a bad year. Perhaps it was better for her to leave."
Han Ye raised an eyebrow as he asked curiously, "Why do you say so?"
Mr. Dai was hesitant to answer him as he went back to his seat.
To give him a little push, Han Ye added,
"Mr. Dai, I believe that our President Du has donated quite a sum of money to the school over the years. Du Corporation frequently hires employees who graduated from Elite High School..."
He slowly flipped the yearbook as he calmly continued,
"...If he found out that someone deliberately withhold information from him, I don't know what he might do to that person... or to the school."
Mr. Dai knew that Han Ye was threatening him in a roundabout manner. After debating internally, he relented,
"There is no need for Mr. Han to bother President Du. It's not a big secret anyway. After all, it was on the news."
"What news?"
He sighed sadly, "Not long after Ms. Zhen transferred, we received reports that a young girl was raped on our school compound."
"Tell me more."
Mr. Dai took out a newspaper clipping from one of the files he kept on his bookshelf,
"She was a scholarship student who committed suicide that year. Her friends said that she was raped but the police and her parents said otherwise."
While reading the newspaper clipping, Han Ye asked, "Do you know who did it?"
