Chapter 222 - Twins Birthday (9)

Jiang Cheng was watching the scene unfold when he recognized someone from the corner of his eyes.

"Alyssa..." Jiang Cheng thought as he felt a sharp pain as if someone stabbed him in the heart.

Alyssa was leaning against a well-kept middle-aged man who had an arm wrapped around her waist while the two of them watched the battle between Old Madam Du versus Kai Xin.

When Old Madam Du left the stage, Jiang Cheng watched as Alyssa pulled her fist back as if she was cheering for Kai Xin.

Alyssa turned to the man and whispered something into his ears that made him laughed. He whispered something back before he reached behind her and pinched her backside.

Unable to watch anymore, Jiang Cheng turned and walked away.

When she felt the pinch, Alyssa yelped and turned around.

She thought she saw Jiang Cheng but when she looked around she did not see him.

"He's working tonight...There is no way he would be here..." thought Alyssa.

She then turned to the man, Leon Choon and glared at him as she snapped, "Don't ever do that again! I'm just here as your friend!"

Leon Choon smirked, "You used to love it when I tease you like that."

"No. I used to pretend to like it because you were paying me a sh*tload of money..."

"Come on, Alyssa...For old times sake, how about you be my baby again?" pleaded Leon Choon with a pout.

Ignoring him, Alyssa folded her arms and walked off. After a few steps, she turned and said in an annoyed tone of voice, "I know what you said to your friends..."

"About what?" asked Leon Choon innocently.

Alyssa glanced down towards her private area angrily and then sneered at him, "You know what I'm talking about!"

Her gesture reminded him of a drunken talk session with his friends and he immediately raised his arms in defeat, "In my defense, I was drunk! And it was on the day you ended things with me! Until now, you never tell me why!"

Alyssa glanced around to make sure that no one was listening before hissing at him, "Cause I found out that you were sleeping with three other women at the same time! You idiot!"

She scoffed inwardly at her pathetic self. That day, she came back earlier from a visit to her old orphanage.

After spending two days in her old town, she missed her lover and she wanted to give him a surprise. However, when she went into his high-end apartment, she found a few sets of high heels that did not belong to her.

Then, the loud giggles that came from the master bedroom caught her attention and she slowly made her way towards the room.

When she took a peek, she saw Leon Choon with three other women in incriminating positions. Their moans were ricocheting off the walls and she saw that the man was enjoying his amorous companions without any guilt.

More than shock, she felt betrayed.

Just a week ago, he told that she was the only one in his life and like an idiot, she believed his words. He was the first man who treated her with respect and even though it was against the rule of their relationship, she fell in love with him.

When she saw the scene, even though it hurt, Alyssa closed the door quietly. She took a deep breath and picked up her stuff before leaving the place. Once she was in the safety of a hotel room that she paid using cash, she then sent him an email to let him know that she wanted to end everything with him.

"No..." Leon Choon went wide-eyed when he realized that he had literally been caught with his pants down. All these while, he had been wondering why and for quite some time after she ended their relationship, he had blamed her for it.

"Alyssa... I can explain!" said the man as he tried to think of a good explanation. He took a bet from his friends and they convinced him that it would be fine as long as she did not find out about it. Hence, he did it. If he knew that she was there, he would have never done it.

"Don't bother!" snapped Alyssa as she gave him a middle finger before turning away and head into the mansion.

"I can't believe I came for a mere $10,000! I should have charged the idiot a higher sum!" murmured Alyssa as she went into the kitchen to get a glass of water.

When she went to the kitchen, she saw a familiar back facing her. She had been watching the same back while he prepared meals for her for the past few weeks.

"Jiang Cheng?"

When he heard her voice, he froze. He then turned around. With a platter filled with glasses of champagne on his hands, he asked with a forced smile, "Miss, would you like a glass of champagne?"

Head Manager Han often berated him whenever he found it hard to control his emotions. Jiang Cheng knew that if the man saw him, he would be utterly disappointed in him.

"Jiang Cheng... What are you doing here? I thought you are working."

"Miss, I'm a server here for tonight..." said Jiang Cheng tersely.

"Why are you referring to me as 'Miss'?" asked Alyssa. She was confused by his change of behavior. Recalling that she saw a glimpse of him earlier, she asked worriedly, "Did you see anything earlier? It's nothing! There's nothing between me and Leon!"

She tried to touch him but the younger man took a step back before saying in a detached voice, "I'm sorry, miss. I need to go back to work. There are still plenty of guests around. Maybe you'd go back to your date."

Meanwhile, DX excused himself from the stage as he brought Kai Xin to the side. Ignoring everyone else, the two stood underneath a huge oak tree that was heavily decorated with fairy lights.

"Mama!" Caleb yelled as he reached for her. He had been missing her the entire night. Tian Le said that she was here but none of the kids saw her.

Chuckling, Kai Xin took him away from DX and she massaged one of his arms while saying, "Poor DX. I heard that you have been carrying him for more than an hour. Your arms must be sore!"

"I'm fine..." said DX. He took her hand and kissed her palm before saying, "I'm taking this as a practice. When we have a daughter, I would never let her go."

Kai Xin laughed and playfully slapped him on the chest. She then looked at Caleb and signed, "How do you know that it's me? I'm wearing a mask!"

He smiled and signed back, "I just do..."

"Can you do me a favor and go hang out with Tian Le first? Tell him to get you some cake," signed Kai Xin.

Caleb glanced at DX and when he looked back at Kai Xin, he nodded. Before he left, he signed, "I protected him for you. So, can I have two cakes?"

She snorted rather inelegantly and gave DX a quick glance before signing back to Caleb, "Eat as much as you want."

After Caleb ran off to Tian Le, DX asked, "What did he say before he left?"

She placed a finger on her lips and winked, "Secret."

DX took her hand away and leaned down to kiss her. He moved closer so that he could feel her body against him.

"You are gorgeous today..." whispered DX as he moved his hands to her waist. He glanced down at the V-shape of the dress and when he saw her birthmark, he frowned, "I'm not so sure about this blatant display of your body...Should I punish you for it?"

She giggled, "Well...Mr. Almost-Someone's-Fiance...Who should punish who?"

He leaned back a little to look her in the eyes before saying in a serious tone, "I have never agreed to anything or even hint anything to anyone!"

"I know!" said Kai Xin. Even though she was wearing high heels, she was still half a head shorter than him. With a smirk, she kissed him on the chin before asking, "Why didn't you defend me earlier?"

DX raised a brow questioningly and asked, "Do I need to?"

"No...But it would be so much better if you did it...Where's my knight in shining armor?"

He laughed and pulled her into a hug, "My little minx...You would one day be Madam President Du. If I'm always there to protect you from every little scuffle, how are you going to gain the respect of everyone?"

"I don't need their respects..." sighed Kai Xin.

"I know..." said DX.

He kissed her on the forehead before adding, "...But I want them to respect you for for your own capabilities and not because you are my woman. I believe in you, Kara. Besides, if I were to speak up for you earlier, my mother would never ever accept you."

"What do you mean?" asked Kai Xin.

DX sighed and placed a hand behind her head protectively before explaining to her.

"My mother respects strength and power. The reason why she keeps pushing Song Qiao to me was because of the power held by the Song Family. Mother believes that with the alliance between the Song Family and mine, the Du Family's position would be strengthened and unshakeable."

"But - " Kai Xin was about to ask something when they heard the whirring sound of helicopters.

When DX looked up, he went wide-eyed when he noticed the emblems on the side of the helicopters.

"Kara...Go into the house..." said DX suddenly.

"Why? What's wrong?"

"Listen to me. Go and wait for me in my bedroom. I would come up in a while. I just need to handle something first..."

Kai Xin heard the urgency in his voice and nodded.

"Han Ye!" yelled DX. When his assistant rushed over, he said, "Take Kara to my bedroom and make sure that the guards do their job properly. Without authorization, no one is to go up the stairs!"

Han Ye noticed the helicopters earlier and he knew that someone from the Luo Family and Ye Family had arrived. None of them expected it as they were not in the invitation list. Han Ye had ensured that their names were 'accidentally' deleted from the list.

As Han Ye and Kai Xin went up the stairs, she asked, "What happened?"

Han Ye smiled and reassured her, "Nothing, Ms. Zhen. Just some pesky mosquitos. Don't worry too much about it. President Du will deal with them."

DX called Callum and once the phone connected, he snapped, "WHAT THE HELL ARE THEY DOING HERE?"

"Jeez! Du XiAn! What's wrong with you today?" said Callum gruffly as he rubbed his ear that was ringing from the abuse it received earlier.

He growled, "Did you not see who just arrived?"

"Who?"

Frustrated by him, DX gritted, "Members of the Luo and Ye! Why are they here!"

"What?" Callum looked at his tablet and after a while, he was looking at the live feed from the surveillance cameras that were at the front of the mansion and facing the helipads area. He enlarged the video as he tried to make out the people who were walking towards the mansion.

When he realized who it was, he cursed, "Fuck!"

Even though he was unsure why they were in the banned list, but Callum was sure that no invitations were extended to the latecomers.

DX growled, "Get rid of them!"

"It's Ye Xuan Yuan and his son Ye Tian...Luo Yu Sheng is here as well...and I think he brought his two grandsons along. I can't do anything!"

"What do you mean!"

Callum gulped, "Your mother is talking with them! I think she invited them!"
