Chapter 243 - Twins Birthday (28)

Name:Be My Strength Author:LuoYeYouLing
While the entire country was talking about her, the woman in their discussion was currently sitting on the bed alone while she pondered about what had happened earlier.

With her eyes closed, Kai Xin held her phone tightly as if it was her lifesaver. Whenever she recalled the memory of Song Qiao throwing herself off the stairs, she shivered slightly.

"That was the first time..." thought Kai Xin as she shook her head to get the distasteful memory out of her mind.

During the past 6 years of their relationship, Kai Xin had never experienced such a situation.

She could somehow understand why DX kept their relationship under wrap, and why Ghost and Phantom warned her against falling in love with DX.

Not only would people harm her to get her out of their way, but they would also even go to the extent of harming themselves to frame her!

With her arms wrapped tightly around her legs, she murmured, "The upper society is indeed very scary..."

'RINGGG'

When her phone rang, Kai Xin glanced at the Caller ID before she answered it, "Hey..."

A gentle voice asked, "Hey, are you alright?"

Hearing Ghost's voice, she felt a sense of comfort. She needed to be with someone that she was familiar with right now. Other than DX and her family, Ghost was the next best thing.

When she closed the door behind her, she thought of calling her mother, Kai An or Jane. However, she eventually decided against it because it would only cause them unnecessary worries. Her identity was exposed and she was sure that they would be seeing everything on the news tonight or tomorrow.

"I'm fine..." murmured Kai Xin before she remembered that Ghost did not receive the invitation.

She glanced at her phone before putting it back to her ear again and asked curiously, "Wait...How did you know?"

"I was at the party earlier...and I saw everything," replied Ghost as he sat on his bed.

After he was dropped off by one of DX's drivers, he ignored everyone else and ran back into his room so that he could give her a call.

When he saw DX carried the woman out, he knew that Kai Xin must be feeling lonely in the room.

"What? Why didn't you tell me?" pouted Kai Xin.

"It's a last-minute invitation kind of thing...Anyway, how are you feeling? Du XiAn left the mansion with that woman. I think he's sending her to the hospital..."

Finally knowing why DX did not return after so long, Kai Xin nodded sadly.

"Ghost..."

"I know you didn't do it," said Ghost confidently.

His confidence in her made her smile as she pointed out, "Why are you so sure about it? I'm mean and violent, and I used you as a sandbag..."

With a soft laugh, Ghost said, "I just do. You might be mean, and you might be violent, but you are not that kind of person who would push someone off the stairs. If you really want to beat someone up, you'd have done it openly."

Kai Xin chuckled softly. There was a moment of silence before she spoke again.

"Ghost..."

"Yeah..."

With tears slowly falling from the corner of her eyes, her voice broke as she admitted in a small voice, "I'm scared..."

Wishing that he could be there for her, Ghost sighed at his own impotence. What was done was done. All he could do now was to comfort her through the phone.

Using a stern voice, he said, "Don't be...What's there to be afraid of? I know you are not an idiot, Daisy. Are you telling me that all the training I've given you for the past few years is nothing but a waste of time? Why did you let her enter the room? I don't believe it if you say that you did not make any preparation..."

Even though he could not see her, Kai Xin nodded while she wiped her tears off using the white sheets.

Her mascara and eyeliner stained the sheets but she could care less about it as she admitted, "I was worried that she might try something so I recorded our conversation..."

"Then why are you afraid?"

"Ghost, Du XiAn...Would he believe me? Even without the recording, would he believes me based on my words alone?"

Even though he hated to vouch for his rival, Ghost nodded as he replied, "He would...Just like me, he would believe you..."

"I don't think so...DX...He...He would just think that everything I do is right even when I'm wrong. He would protect me no matter what but I don't want that kind of blind protection! I want him to believe me because I really didn't do it."

Ghost frowned when he heard the worried tone in her voice. The Kai Xin he knew was stronger and had a better resolute than this. Something was off about her.

"Daisy...What's wrong with you? You are being all wishy-washy like those normal women..."
