Chapter 256 - Where's my cute disciple?

After the third round, he exhaled a loud groan before cursing.

"We need to take a break..." murmured DX as he tried to catch his breath. As he laid down next to her, she smirked knowing that she won this round. Although, to be honest, her hips were extremely sore by now as well.

As much as he hated it, he had to admit defeat...at least for now. Even though his body desired for more, he was mentally exhausted from the lack of sleep.

In the end, after taking a quick shower to clean off the sweat, they decided to just lie on their back and chat about their work.

Since they were feeling a little cold, they decided to put on some clothes. He decided to wear a jogger while she wore one of his sweaters that reached to her knees.

While they chat, she was lying down with her head on his arm that was draped across her chest.

"So, I told my boss that I would be working from home...I'm not sure if I would like being so free...Since my identity has been exposed, can I just work at your office?" asked Kai Xin as she looked at the photo frame on the nightstand.

It contained a picture of her and DX looking at each other when she was masquerading as K.

When he did not reply, she joked, "Are you asleep?"

Glancing up at his face, Kai Xin smiled when she saw that he had really fallen asleep.

"He must be really tired..." murmured Kai Xin softly before she reached up to kiss his chin.

As if he knew what she was doing, he wrapped her tighter in his embrace.

Since she could not move without disturbing him, she used her toes to reach for the blanket before pulling them up to cover both of them.

"Night..." murmured Kai Xin and when she closed her eyes, she received a reply in the form of a light kiss on the forehead.

Meanwhile, outside DX's room, lurked a suspicious man who was wearing a stethoscope as he tried to listen into their private conversation.

After the argument with Jack, Lyle who was looking for Kai Xin frowned when he saw Callum, dressed in a black hoodie, kneeling suspiciously outside his father's room.

When he noticed that Callum was wearing a stethoscope with the diaphragm pressed against the door, he frowned.

"That pervert..." murmured Lyle as he slowly inched closer to him.

The man was so engrossed in what he was doing that he did not notice the kick that was coming his way.

Luckily, with his years of training, his body managed to sense the killing intent and it automatically dodged the kick at the very last second.

"You pervert! What the heck are you doing?" snapped Lyle as he glared at his uncle.

Feeling undignified at being caught by a kid, Callum quickly stood up as he defended his innocence, "I'm not a pervert. I'm just trying to find out what is the gender of the kid in her stomach."

"Are you an idiot? Can't you just throw a bug in or something? Where's all your spy equipments?" asked Lyle as he rolled his eyes at Callum's explanation.

He had a hard time believing that for a guy who managed to graduate from MIT, Callum had no common sense at all.

"What am I supposed to do? I can't place a bug in his room. The last time he found out that I was listening in onto his conversation, he dislocated my shoulder! No! Shoulders! BOTH OF THEM!"

Lyle recalled that incident. Even though it was his own fault, Callum was so angry at having his shoulders dislocated that he refused to talk to anyone for a month.

As he looked at his uncle's shoulders, Lyle scoffed, "I don't think he did that because you were listening. He probably did that because you are an idiot."

"Hey! Don't disrespect me! I'm your uncle!" pointed Callum. He was a little annoyed at how everyone in the family disrespected him.

When he saw Lyle looking at the door, he said, "Are you looking for your dad? He's busy with Kai Xin."

Ignoring his uncle, Lyle knocked on the door twice. It was only when he heard nothing coming from the inside that he turned back to face his uncle.

With a long sigh, he pouted, "They are probably asleep..."

"Or they might be doing something else..." murmured Callum before he smirked at his own joke.

Lyle was still too innocent to understand him so he ignored the comment. Instead, he asked, "Have you seen Aunt Layla and Quinn? The maids just informed me that they haven't taken their breakfast...and lunch time is almost over..."

Callum shrugged before saying, "Those two are totally related. One is a sow and the other a little piglet..."

The moment those words left his mouth, Callum felt a cold chill coming from behind him.

When he felt a strong killing intent coming from behind him, he immediately raised his hand to block the punch that was coming his way.

He even managed to dodge the roundhouse kick that was aimed at his chest. Luckily he did because the kick smashed into the wall.

As he watched Layla pulled her leg back, Lyle gulped and greeted her respectfully, "Aunt Layla, good morning..."

"Morning, Lyle...Quinn is in the room...Can you please go and wake her up? We were chatting until way past midnight and she's having trouble waking up..." asked Layla with a smile. The killing intent from earlier dissipated as if it was never there.

Lyle nodded before he quickly ran off. He did not want to be a witness to a potential bloodshed that was about to come.

After all, she was the woman that his father took years to take down!

Turning to Callum, Layla smirked, "Not bad, kid...At least you won't embarrass anyone when you claim to be from the Shenlong Family."

With his arms folded, he said in a smug tone, "Of course...A small fry-"

Before he could finish his sentence, a fist came his way. When he deflected the fist, he nearly got hit in the face by an elbow.

As Callum blocked the elbow, he snarled at her, "What's that for?"

Pulling her elbow back, Layla glared at him as she sneered, "What did you just called me and my daughter?"

"It's the truth! Look at the time now! It's already way past noon and you are still in bed!"

Stomping towards him, she grabbed his ear and said, "Still, what kind of man says such mean stuff about a defenseless woman and her cute baby?"

"OUCH! OUCH! OUCH! OUCH! HELPPPP!!" yelled Callum when she twisted it. She had been doing it to him ever since he was a kid and he was unable to do anything back to her because she was DX's best friend...and a girl.

When he finally managed to get away from her, he rubbed his reddened ear furiously as he snapped, "What kind of a defenseless woman are you?! You are worse than a guy!"

Ignoring him, she asked, "Where's my cute disciple?"

"Who knows? Screwing around most likely..." said Callum with a smirk. When she flinched at him, he got scared and jumped back while covering both of his ears. He was sure that if she got her hands on him again, she was going to twist his ear off!

Glaring at her, he warned, "Touch me again and I won't tell you the secret..."

"Pffft...." laughed Layla before she rolled her eyes at him. With her arms folded, she said, "As if I care...Keep your dirty secret to yourself..."

"Oh yeah?" asked Callum as he wriggled a brow at her tauntingly. Leaning against the wall, he continued, "It's about your favorite disciple."

When she heard that the secret concerned Kai Xin, her ears perked up. With a much softer voice, she asked, "Cute little Callum...What is the secret? Tell this big sister..."

"Only if you promise you won't hurt me for the next 5 years..." said Callum.

"How would I know if the secret is worth 5 years of whacking you?" asked Layla as she raised a brow at him suspiciously.

"Oh, it's totally worth it...It's up to you..." said Callum before he turned around.

Just as he was about to walk off, she pulled him back.

"Fine!" said Layla. She jabbed his chest twice as she warned, "But if you are tricking me, I'd whack you up until XiAn cannot recognize you without a DNA test..."

With a wide grin, Callum whispered, "They are going to have a baby."

"Baby?" asked Layla with a frown. Then she went wide-eyed and she grabbed Callum's left arm as she jumped up and down before asking excitedly, "Kai Xin is pregnant?"

"Yeah...Argh!" groaned Callum as he tried to pull his arm away from her before she cut through it with her nails.

Layla suddenly stopped jumping around and asked, "Have they found out about the gender?"

"No. Phillip came earlier for the checkup but my brother kicked me out of the room...They are sleeping now so I can't ask either..."

Layla thought for a moment before saying, "Meet me at the foyer in 10 minutes..."

"Where are we going?"

"To Phillip, of course! Who knows how long those two are going to be asleep, if they are even asleep..." said Layla as she exchanged a knowing look with Callum.

The racket outside the room jolted Kai Xin up from her nap and when she heard Callum's scream for help, she sat up as she debated whether it would worth the effort to get up.

However, even though he was half asleep, DX murmured, "Ignore him...He's...playing with Layla..."

Kai Xin nodded before letting out a soft yawn. Snuggling back against him, she smiled when he automatically wrapped both his arms around her.
