Chapter 259 - Leave it to me!

When they went to the dining room, the kids were there but there was a chill in the atmosphere. Lyle and Quinn were sitting at their usual seats while Jack was sitting alone at the end of the 12 seaters table.

"What happened?" asked DX. Before the kids answered him, he told the Head Chef to tell everyone that they could go home now and that he would prepare his own dinner. The Head Chef was happy to be dismissed early and he immediately went into the kitchen to notify the rest of the kitchen staff.

"Someone is an idiot..." murmured Lyle as he glared at his brother. When he recalled what his brother said earlier about Kai Xin, his temper flared up again. Quinn did not know what had happened between the two of them but she felt uncomfortable by the fight.

Jack ignored his brother and continued to focus on his own plate.

Feeling sorry for Jack, Kai Xin went over and patted his head before saying, "Come on. You guys are brothers. Don't sit so far from each other. It's lonely to eat alone..."

'PAP!'

Jack slapped Kai Xin's hand away and pushed her away from him. Luckily, he did not use too much force and even though she was taken aback by it, Kai Xin managed to steady herself.

"JACK!" yelled both DX and Lyle. DX went over and took Kai Xin over to the seat next to him. He made sure that she was fine before turning back to his son.

As he looked at the affection that his father showed Kai Xin and her unborn child, Jack cursed, "I hate her! I don't care if she's pregnant! I don't want her or her baby to be here! I wish that they are-"

"JACK!" roared DX as he slammed his hand down onto the dining table. He knew what Jack was going to say and he did not want to hear those horrible words coming out of his own son.

"D-Dad..." said Jack with teary eyes. His lips quivered as at that moment, he was truly afraid of his father. It was so loud and unprecedented that everyone was startled by it. Even though DX was strict, he had never raised his voice or shouted at them.

DX closed his eyes as he tried to rein his temper in. He was stuck between his son and Kai Xin, but given the latter's condition, he had no choice but to make the hard decision.

In a terse voice, he said, "You'll go and live with your grandmother. Go pack your things now."

Jack stood up angrily as he snapped, "DAD!"

"I don't want to argue about this with you. Right now, I need you to be more understanding..."

Angered at the fact that his father was sending him away because of her, Jack glared at her while he purposely dropped his dinner plate on the floor. Before he ran off, he growled, "I would never accept a cruel woman like you!"

Kai Xin was hurt by his outburst but she understood where he was coming from as well. Worried, she wanted DX to go after him but he refused to budge.

Worried about his younger brother, Lyle looked at his father for guidance. DX knew what he wanted to say and he replied to the question that was in Lyle's mind, "Don't worry about him. The servants will look after him."

As she listened to the series of things being broken outside the living room, Kai Xin sighed, "He's going to hate me more..."

DX patted her hand as he reassured her, "Jack's temper is too much like his birth mother...I'll talk to him once I settled everything..."

To Lyle, he said, "Lyle, you will go with him as well. Try to talk to him."

Lyle nodded. He understood that DX wanted him to look after Jack.

"What about me?" asked Quinn. After what he did earlier, she was a little afraid of her Godfather and everyone could tell by the way she scooted closer to Lyle.

DX sighed, "You'd be here. I'll call Judge and let her know that you and Layla would be staying with me for a while."

He went over to her and when he reached out to pat her head, she flinched. With a sigh, DX placed his hand at the back of the chair before saying in a softer voice, "I need you and your mother to be here with your Godmother for a while longer. Can you do it for me?"

When she heard his usual kind voice, Quinn nodded, "As long as you promised that you won't shout like that anymore..."

Patting her head, DX nodded, "I'm sorry that I scared you, Quinn. It won't happen again. I promise."

He left the three out in the dining room while he went to the kitchen to cook the only thing that he knew how to cook: Minced pork porridge.

Once he was done, he brought out two heaping bowls and joined them in the dining room.

After they were done with their dinner, Lyle and Jack were sent by the drivers to their grandmother's house while Quinn sat in DX's room with Kai Xin.

When DX came out of the bathroom in a light blue polo shirt, and black pants, Quinn wrapped her little arms around Kai Xin's neck as she whispered to Kai Xin from behind her, "Godmother, how did you snag a beautiful man like my Godfather?"

Kai Xin chuckled and shook her head at the little girl's antics.

DX walked over and kissed both of them on their foreheads before saying to Kai Xin, "I might be unable to come back tonight. If you are hungry, just eat the fruits that we brought up earlier. I've washed them earlier."

Kai Xin nodded and in a lowered voice, DX added, "If you want something else, ask Layla or Callum to buy you something to eat."

"When would you be back?" asked Kai Xin.

"There's a press conference tomorrow afternoon, so I'd definitely be back in the morning..."

Kai Xin nodded and whispered, "I love you..."

"Love you too..." replied DX before he stole a quick kiss from her.

To Quinn, he asked, "Can you help me take care of your Godmother until your mum and my stupid brother comes back?"

Quinn nodded and she patted her small chest before saying loudly, "Leave it to me!"
