DX left the responsibility of handling the reporters and guests to Head Manager Han so that he could leave early.
On the way home, Kai Xin sat down quietly. She ignored everyone who tried to talk to her including DX.
"Dad?" whispered Lyle worriedly as he glanced at Kai Xin who was sitting at the passenger seat.
He did not know what happened after they left the ballroom but it seemed serious. Since DX told them not to watch the TV, they did not watch it even though they were curious.
When DX suddenly called them on the phone and told them to meet him at the lobby, Lyle had thought that it was weird as it was barely an hour since they were sent away from the ballroom.
Then, he saw Kai Xin with flushed face and eyes that were completely red and swollen. He guessed that she had been crying and that might have been the reason why they were leaving abruptly.
As they were walking to the car, the twins noticed that Kai Xin seemed listless as she leaned against his father's chest.
When they asked what happened, DX told them to not ask anything and to just let her rest for now.
"She's fine," said DX as he glanced at his twins through the rearview mirror.
He then took a quick glance at Kai Xin. When he tried to touch her hand earlier, she pulled it back without saying anything.
He was worried about her but he could not show it in front of the twins.
After he dropped the twins at home, he told them, "Tell Grandma An that Kai Xin and I need some time alone. Tell her not to worry and that we would be back latest before lunch tomorrow…"
The twins exchanged glances before nodding.
DX drove Kai Xin to the penthouse at Hotel W. She seemed like a robot as she allowed him to lead her around.
Once they were at the penthouse, DX put her down on the bed and told her to take a rest while he prepared the bath.
With the technology that was set up in the room, there was no reason why he had to set the bath himself.
However, he needed an excuse to step away from her to give Dr. Phillip a call. As he was filling up the water, he gave the doctor a call.
The moment the call was connected, Dr. Phillip asked, "How's Kai Xin?"
Like millions of others, he had watched the press conference. He had just completed a major surgery when his assistant told him that the press conference was still going on.
Without even changing out of his scrubs, he just sat in the empty operation room along with his team of surgeons as they watched the press conference.
After he saw DX carried her out, he figured that they would be calling anytime soon.
"She's… I don't know. She just stopped talking out of a sudden," said DX with a worried tone as he glanced at the bathroom door.
He then told Dr. Phillip everything, especially the relationship between Kai Xin and Phantom.
Dr. Phillip was quiet for a moment before he said, "I think she's just in shock at the moment. The friend that she knew and trusted for years turns out to be the one who placed her in such a horrible situation… "
He paused for a second before continuing, "...Don't worry too much about it. She'd be fine. Just talk to her and don't agitate her… Make her feel safe and keep her warm. No matter what, make sure that you don't let her be alone… If something happens, call me immediately."
DX nodded. He then suddenly cursed and hung up the call before he ran out of the bathroom.
When he noticed that she was not in the room, he quickly ran to the living room. However, she was not there either. Just as he was about to panic, he recalled that there's a balcony in the bedroom and he rushed back in to see.
That was when he saw her at the balcony.
His heart nearly stopped when he saw her looking out at the buildings. Her eyes were blank as she stared out into the horizon.
"Kara… Kara… What are you doing?" asked DX nervously as he walked towards her slowly.
She did not respond to him when he called out to her. It was as if she was not completely there. As if, after Phantom, all that was left was a shell of uncertainty.
Afraid that he would spook her, DX walked quietly towards her and when he was behind her, he slowly reached out to hug her.
As he hugged her, he placed a kiss on her shoulder before saying in a pleading manner, "Talk to me, alright? Please, honey. You're scaring me… You haven't said a word in hours."
When Kai Xin did not respond, DX turned her around and kissed her on the lips. He kept trying to get her to respond but she just stood there, seemingly trapped in her own world.
"Kara… Please…" said DX as he looked at her with worried eyes. He took her hand and when he touched it, he realized that her hands were very cold.
"Sh*t! Why are you freezing!" cursed DX.
