Chapter 368 - That doesn'st absolve him of his guilt

Callum was holding a bouquet of flowers while he stood at the foyer. He did not call Ghost beforehand because he wanted to surprise him.

When Ghost came down to meet him, Callum smirked, "I like to see you in T-shirt. But next time, make sure to wear them tighter so that I can see your perfect body."

Since he was lazy, Ghost wanted to stay and work from home. Instead of his usual buttoned-up shirt or polo, he was wearing a basic loose black t-shirt and a pair of YSL black joggers.

"F*ck. Off," hissed Ghost. When he saw the flowers in Callum's hand, he raised an eyebrow and asked, "Who is that for? Better not be me."

"Nah, obviously no. If my wife says no flowers, then I won't bring flowers," answered Callum. When Ghost glared at him, Callum immediately added, "This is for my future grandfather-in-law."

"Idi*t," murmured Ghost as he shook his head.

As they walked towards Grandfather Luo's room, Ghost said, "You'd have told me earlier that you are coming."

"But I like to give you surprise," said Callum. He glanced around and when he saw no one was around, he grabbed Ghost's hand.

Startled, Ghost tried to pull his hand away but Callum refused to let him go.

"What are you doing?"

"Hey, for my standards, we are moving at a very slow pace…" said Callum. He pouted and looked at Ghost with puppy dog eyes when he asked, "Are you going to deny me the joy of holding your beautiful hand?"

His answer was a swift kick to the back of his knee which caused him to buckle and fell on one knee. By instinct, he released Ghost's hand just in time so that he would not pull him down with him.

"Urgh," groaned Callum as he rubbed his sore knee. When he was still down on one knee, he suddenly thought of something and asked, "My wife, do you want me to propose now?"

Speechless, Ghost ignored him. He opened the door to his grandfather's room and went in. Callum immediately got up and went in after him.

"Ye Ye, Callum is here to meet you," said Ghost as he stood next to his grandfather's bed. Callum stood at the bottom of the bed and bowed respectfully to Grandfather Luo.

"Mr. Shenlong, I've been seeing you around quite often," said Grandfather Luo as Ghost helped him sit up on the bed.

"Ah, yes. Guang Ying and I are best friends now," said Callum. When Grandfather Luo turned to look at Ghost, Callum winked at him and made a kissy face.

Ghost had a horrified look on his face as he looked at Callum's idiotic behavior. When Grandfather Luo saw it, he immediately whipped his head around only to find Callum smiling politely at him.

He was confused as he looked to and fro between the two young men.

"Ah!" Callum suddenly called out. He raised the bouquet of flowers and said, "This is for you, sir."

Grandfather Luo nodded and asked Ghost to help him place the flowers in the jade vase that was on his dresser. When Ghost was arranging the flowers that he had placed in the jade vase, Grandfather Luo asked Callum to sit down next to him so that he could talk to him without hurting his neck.

He had meant for Callum to pull a chair over but Callum just sat on the bed. Even though it surprised Grandfather Luo, he quickly got over it and asked, "How's President Du?"

Callum glanced at Ghost before he looked back at Grandfather Luo. With a smile, he said, "My brother is fine. He's at home with his wife now."

Grandfather Luo nodded, "Good. I hope she's fine."

Ghost sat on the other side of his grandfather's bed and sighed, "Ye Ye… Don't..."

The old man shook his head slowly before saying, "I won't ask Mr. Shenlong to help me plead for your cousins' freedom. What they did was horrible and they deserved the punishments. However…"

He looked at Callum and asked, "Mr. Shenlong, can you please ask President Du to give Ye Tian a way out?"

"I- I can't," said Callum as he looked away. He had no say in this matter.

Grandfather Luo grabbed Callum's hand and said earnestly, "Ye Tian's nature is kind… I don't know why he did it, but please… He has lost his mother at an early age, and he doesn't have anyone who can teach him right from wrong… Punish him, if you want, but please spare his life…"

Just as he finished talking, he started to cough violently and Ghost immediately called Butler Douglas to notify him of the situation. After a few minutes, the butler arrived with the doctor who was staying in the mansion at the moment.

After checking Grandfather Luo's pulse, the doctor said, "He's fine, but he needs to rest."

"I'll send Callum out, Ye Ye… After that, I'll come back and accompany you," said Ghost. After Grandfather Luo nodded at him, Ghost told Butler Douglas to look after his grandfather until he returned.

As Ghost and Callum walked to the foyer, Callum asked, "Is he really alright?"

"It's normal. After all, he's almost 85 years old. His health has been bad lately, then with the news about Luo Yin and Ye Tian…" said Ghost. He did not finish his sentence because Callum knew what he wanted to say.

DX had given Ghost a call to check with him but Ghost told him that he did not send anyone after Ye Tian because he knew that DX had sent someone. There was no point to send so many people. After he found out about Ye Tian's disappearance, he had kept it a secret from his grandfather.

"What about you? Do you want to forgive Ye Tian?" asked Callum before he took Ghost's left hand and gave it a light squeeze.

This time, Ghost did not get angry. Instead, he sighed and said, "Not really…"

He glanced at his disabled hand that was enveloped by Callum's warm hand before continuing, "Back then, he was there. He goaded Luo Yin into hurting me. He didn't do anything, but his cold presence there scared me. The thing is… I also saw him…"

Ghost looked at Callum in the eyes as he explained further, "... He was shocked when Luo Yin started to hit me with the hammer, but… he just stood there with his eyes closed. I think he hadn't expected Luo Yin to go to that extent…"

"That doesn't absolve him of his guilt…" said Callum softly.

Ghost shook his head and looked away as he tried to think about it. After a while, he said, "Of course he's guilty. What he did to Dai - I mean, Kai Xin - was horrible and he had to be punished...It's just that, I don't understand him or his motives."

He felt as if his grandfather knew something that he did not. Otherwise, why was his grandfather so adamant at saving Ye Tian but not Luo Yin?

Ghost turned to face Callum and said, "I've spent years trying to figure out his motive but I-"

His thought process was interrupted by a sudden kiss on the lips. It was a simple light kiss but he was so shocked that he was stunned.

"Is he… kissing me?" thought Ghost as he stood there like a rock.

When Ghost pulled his lips away slightly, he said in a hoarse voice, "I don't like to hear you getting upset… Why don't you just beat me up instead of worrying about Ye Tian's motives?"

Ghost frowned and lifted his hand, but when Callum closed his eyes, the former only pushed him away gently instead of hitting him.

Blushing, Ghost looked away from him as he murmured, "I'll see you soon... Erm, I'd be busy for the next few days... I-I've to get back to work! Send yourself out."

Once he was done speaking, he then ran back into his own room. He slammed the bedroom door shut and bolted it before he went straight to the bathroom to turn on the cold shower. As he stood under the cold water, he screamed out in frustration.

"F*ck! What is wrong with me?!" groaned Ghost as he sat down in the bathtub that was gradually being filled with water. When he recalled the kiss, he placed a finger on his lips and thought, "His lips are surprisingly soft…"

Suddenly, he yelled out and cursed, "F*ck this! Why am I thinking about his lips?!"
