91 Promise

Seven years later...

"Teacher, I need to skip class today." A young girl asked. The girl had a voice that was like music under a summer breeze.

Her hair was as waves of pure earth, softly reflecting the light of the sun; each strand moving freely in an ocean born breeze, a compliment to her stillness. The girl had a nose like a cartoon character, or one drawn by a lazy artist at least. The bridge was so low-profile as to be barely there at all, her nose was a bump just above her dusky pink lips. There were no two ways about it, she was extremely cute.

The teacher blinked a few times at her words, "Eh? Why?"

"My dad is in hospital and my mom is with the police. I'll be going to grandma's place today."

The teacher was surprised and she ended up misunderstanding the little girl's words. Did some accident happen to her parents?

In the end, Ren Xiaozhi was given permission to go.

When Ren Xiaozhi reached the school gate, she took out her phone and called her father.

Ren Shiyuan was in the middle of a business meeting when his phone suddenly rang, making everyone in the room turn to him.

He looked at the caller ID and saw that it was his daughter calling.

"Excuse me." Ren Shiyuan said before answering the phone, "Hello?"

"Daddy, can you pick me up from school?" Ren Xiaozhi's adorable voice was heard from the other line.

Ren Shiyuan was a bit surprised by his daughter's words, He looked at his wristwatch, her classes weren't done yet, "Don't you have classes right now?"

"My teacher allowed me to go."

"She did?"

"Yes! she said that I am too smart in class that she allowed me to go home!" Ren Xiaozhi happily exclaimed.

"..."

"I'm not going back to class! Daddy, please pick me up, please please?" She made her voice sound even cuter than it already was.

Ren Shiyuan ended up sighing, "Alright, alright, I'll come and pick you up."

"Yay! Daddy, you're the best! I love you so so much!"

He ended up chuckling, "I love you too, alien."

After ending the meeting earlier, Ren Shiyuan went and ended up picking his daughter from her school.

"Daddy!" The little girl went running towards him upon seeing him approach her.

He bent down and carried her up, "Your mother's not going to like it once she learned that you skipped class today."

Ren Xiaozhi pouted, "Are you going to tell mommy?"

"I have to."

"Daddy..." She looked at him with teary eyes, giving him her adorable puppy look. "Mommy will scold Zhizhi and Zhizhi will cry, do you want Zhizhi to cry?"

"..."

Ah, his daughter sure knows how to use her charms well against.

"Can Daddy keep this day as a secret?"

Ren Shiyuan ended up sighing helplessly, "Alright, alright, it's a secret between us."

In a blink of an eye, Ren Xiaozhi's became happy, her saddened expression now gone.

"Yay! You're the best, daddy! The best daddy in the world!"

He chuckled, "Of course I am."

"Since Daddy is the best daddy in the world, can daddy bring me to the zoo?"

"Of course, of course, I'm the best daddy, I can bring you to the zoo right now."

She happily grinned at him, "No taking back words! Let's go! Let's go!"

It was then that Ren Shiyuan noticed that he ended up falling on his daughter's little scheme.

Ah... Did she inherit her smartness from him?

While Ren Shiyuan was walking beside his daughter, showing her around the zoo, his phone started ringing.

When he looked at the caller ID, it was his wife calling.

He ended up looking at Ren Xiaozhi who was busy admiring the monkeys.

"Hello?" He answered the call.

"Hon, what time is your work going to finish?" Nian Jiezhen asked from the other line.

"Let's eat outside tonight. I'm on my way to pick up Zhizhi from school."

"..." Oh shit.

"I... already picked her up."

"Eh? But her class is just about to end..." It was then that Nian Jiezhen realized something, "Don't tell me she skipped?"

First, it was Sun Lingzi, now their daughter was using her father.

"Kinda..." Ren Shiyuan felt guilty for not telling her about it earlier.

"Shiyuan, you should have scolded her! She's going to get used to skipping school if you allowed her like this."

"She's smart." Ren Shiyuan said as if trying to reason out for their daughter.

Nian Jiezhen ended up sighing. Ren Xiaozhi was indeed smart but that didn't mean that he has to let her go just like that.

"Where are you?" She asked him.

"Don't scold her."

"She is not going to learn if I won't. She needed to be disciplined."

"Then I'm not going to tell you where we are."

Nian Jiezhen ended up frowning, "Shiyuan."

"Come on now, sweetheart. Don't scold her." Ren Shiyuan pleaded.

"You're spoiling her too much, you know."

"She's my baby girl."

What should she do with them? She ended up sighing helplessly.

"I'll talk to her so don't scold her, okay?"

"Fine, fine. Now, where are you?"

Upon arriving at the zoo, Nian Jiezhen saw her daughter, hiding behind her father.

"Mommy..." She looked up at her. Ren Xiaozhi knew that her adorable charms were not effective towards her mother.

"Come here."

Ren Xiaozhi raised her head and looked at her dad as if asking for his help.

He ended up chuckling, she was like a pup while she was hiding behind him.

Ren Shiyuan patted her head, "Go to your mother."

"You promised that you won't tell mommy." She whimpered.

"I did... Your mommy found out so it's not my fault."

"Xiaozhi." Nian Jiezhen called her, waiting for her to come out of Ren Shiyuan's back.

In the end, the little girl went out and stood in front of her mother. She was looking down on the ground, puffing her cheeks out in an adorable way.

Nian Jiezhen sighed, she looked at Ren Shiyuan with a helpless smile, "What should I do with her?"

Ren Shiyuan chuckled, "Just let her go just this once."

"Yeah, mommy should let me go this once." Ren Xiaozhi pouted, looking up at her mother.

Nian Jiezhen turned to her daughter, raising a brow at her and when she did, Ren Xiaozhi ended up looking down on the ground again.

She sighed again. She leaned and picked her up from the ground, carrying her little daughter in her arms.

"Don't skip your class again, okay?"

"Even if it's boring?" The little girl finally looked at her and was still pouting.

"Was it boring today?"

Ren Xiaozhi nodded cutely, "Very very boring."

Nian Jiezhen ended up chuckling, "Fine, I'll let you go just this once."

Her daughter finally grinned happily at her, she hugged her neck and kissed her mother's cheeks. "Thank you, mommy! Can we go to the amusement park now?"

"Ren Xiaozhi..."

"Please? Please, mommy?" She rubbed her soft cheeks against her mother's cheeks, "Zhizhi promises not to skip any class for this month!"

Nian Jiezhen ended up chuckling, "Only a month?"

"Yeah, why is it only for a month." Ren Shiyuan asked as he stood beside his wife.

"Then... Then... One month and a half!"

Nian Jiezhen and Ren Shiyuan ended up looking at each other once again, with smiles on their faces.

"I guess that can work for now." He patted Ren Xiaozhi's head.

"Ehe~ Can we go to amusement now please?" She turned to her mother. Nian Jiezhen was the one making the final decisions after all.

"Fine, fine, as long as you promise that you won't skip... For a month and a half."

Ren Xiaozhi raised her pinky promise while grinning happily at her mother.

Nian Jiezhen wrapped her pinky finger around her little finger, "It's a promise then."
