Chapter 8

“I don’t really have anything to do these days.”
“Huh?”
“You’re a pretty good talker.”
Evan is in disbelief with himself. It is hard to understand why he lied like that.
In fact, he didn’t know how to speak well.
I knew how to ride since my subordinates would bring the best horse. So, I know which one would do well, but it is different from watching the horse race. Besides, horse racing is an area that I had never been interested in.
“I can’t stand lying.”
Didn’t I even say that the moment I first saw her? If we go to a horse racing event and Laria asks you one thing or another about a horse…maybe I can answer one or two questions.
He is a hypocrite who can’t stand other people’s lies, but he is a liar himself.
Or a braggart who doesn’t know anything.
Judging from the appearance, he was the top-ranked graduate of the Academy, and no one seemed to have informed Laria of that.
It is frustrating why he didn’t tell Laria about such an important thing.
In the end, there is only one conclusion.
If she told a lie that can’t be proven wrong, he could make it the truth two days later.
So, he spent his time in the library.
The basic knowledge of horse racing, the history of horse racing, the breed of horse, the understanding of horses, an introduction to horse racing…
Even though I am not good at practical skills, I felt like I wouldn’t be caught lying if I pretended to know something.
While he is stuck in the library with a big meal, he suddenly sighed, wondering why he is buying truffles.
Why the hell does he have to do this extensively…
Actually, when I saw a girl standing in front of the academy with my father, who I hadn’t seen after a long time, I thought she was gorgeous.
Fluffy pink hair, round purple eyes, red cheeks, and lovely expressions.
Her small frame and gentle impression were like a puppy. Of course, there were many cute kids in the academy, too.
However, everyone kept asking him questions, ‘Why is Duke Icard here?’ and half of them said ‘too creepy and gloomy.’
But as soon as his wife saw him, she kindly said, “Congratulations on your graduation.”
At that moment, I suddenly realized that is what I have been wanting. Everyone else talked, but he didn’t hear them, as if she was the only one he could hear.
‘Usually, those weak-looking kids are supposed to avoid me just by looking at me.’
On top of that, I think I was a little excited when she even mentioned that “a couple who lives beautifully.”
She mentioned, lovey-dovey? It was a word I didn’t expect.
‘If I had done it with this kid, how would things turned out?’
Her touch on his hair was also felt so soft and gentle. That’s why I don’t want to look ugly in front of her.
I studied everything about horses for two full days, just like that.
I had already finished analyzing what I would recommend on my way to the carriage.
However, I fell asleep on the way. We had already arrived at the racetrack when I opened my eyes.
“Evan, Evan! Wake up. We’re here.”
Laria held my hand slightly, woke me up, and said it suddenly in case he had remembered.
“We didn’t sleep together at night, so no matter how much we hold hands, we won’t have children. Don’t worry.”
Her purple eyes, which were slightly gentle like a puppy, laughed.
“I know.”
He got out of the carriage, clasping her hands curtly.

The atmosphere at the racetrack was as lively as a festival.
I was distracted just by looking around. The sky is blue, the weather is nice, and there are so many things to see.
Every time I saw horses at the venue, Evan talked and explained different things to me.
What’s good, what’s the most famous, what’s the dividend on what, what’s the sum of the rider and the horse…
His last remark that he is a good speaker did not seem to be just a bluff.
Even Duke Icard was about to say something.
“Did you just study horses at the academy?”
Evan’s liking for horses is something I didn’t know about, even though I knew the original story.
“You know now how to speak so well that I can’t help but want to come to the horse racing event.”
While walking around the venue, looking around, countless people greeted us.
