Chapter 65 - Priceless Had Big Issues

That morning, Alex had mixed feelings. She was happy to finally be able to take up the long-awaited fight against her father, but she was also afraid, because this man who had helped bring her into this world was an egotist, ruthless, and without much morality. He knew how to manipulate people. Her poor mother had paid the price for being too good to him, and that was proof of this man's wickedness. She had to be careful when she spoke to him, she had to be strong with this man. 

That day she had an important shoot for a jewellery brand and her official shoot as the face of Royal. She had to take pictures because now that she was the new face of the company, any company banners, flags or posters that represented Royal brands would be replaced with her pictures.

Before she left for the shoot, she called Eliott to let him know about the call she had received earlier. She felt rather giddy about it, as it was as if she were calling her husband to complain or whine about something. 

Eliott was having a bad morning, he was still frustrated about last night, he was exceptionally cold that day, Christ could not tell what the problem was so he wanted to avoid him but unfortunately they had a meeting. He was sitting in front of Eliott, who really looked like he was about to kill something, when his phone rang. He saw Eliott's whole demeanour automatically change, because now he was smiling!

"Hello Mrs."

"Um, um, hello..." Alex blushed, she always felt weak when Eliott called her by a pet name, her mind just stopped working and she started giggling.

"How are you this morning?"

"A little tired, I did not sleep well and you?" 

"Oh? And why is that?" Eliott chuckled, "I bet you were thinking about me ... I was just like you all night". 

"Well... um, I do not want to comment on that," Alex blushed even more, "Alan Porter just called me, he said he wanted to meet me at the Royal Restaurant tonight..." 

"He did not wait long! He must really need me, or should I say my name, something must be going on PRICELESS. I have not been paying much attention to them lately, but now I think we should do a little investigating. So, what did he say?"

"He said he wanted to talk about my mother's shares of PRICELESS, so I agreed to meet him." Alex sighed, already thinking about the nonsense she would have to listen to from her father. 

Eliott raised an eyebrow as he listened to Alex, sure that there must be something going on. "Well, you do not have to worry about it. Just go and ask for what you want, because you have the upper hand here, as I am sure he'll ask you to come and marry me! I am going to find out about the state of the company today." 

" Okay, thank you hubby," Alex said the last word so out of the blue she was stunned herself, but she was relieved that she had said it so quietly that she was sure Eliott had not heard.

"What did you say?" Eliott choked on his saliva as he hurt the word, it was soft but he had definitely heard it! His heart was beating fast and he was so happy he could not help but smile.

"I... I said thank you? ", Alex said sheepishly, hoping that he really had not heard anything. 

Eliott chuckled, he sighed and thought about how Alex must be all red now, he liked seeing her all embarrassed, he felt uneasy because he could not watch it right now. "Oh, okay, it's my duty as your husband to look out for you and protect you, so you do not have to thank me, babe. Have a good day, I have to go! I'll call you at noon."

"Have a nice day too, lots of kisses," Alex said with a big smile as she ended the call. 

When Eliott realised Christ was gone after the phone call, he sighed and called him!

"Hey bro, what's up?" Christ was sure his foul mood was now vanquished by happiness when he saw him smile at his call.

"It's work time, Assistant Zhang." 

"Yes, yes boss, what can I do for you?" Christ grinned

"I do not sense any sincerity when you call me 'boss'! Anyway, do you have any internal information about the financial situation of PRICELESS?" 

"Of course, I am efficient, you know that! There are rumours circulating about them, why? Are we going to buy them?"

"Are you only interested in your job if you have to buy a company? Be aware man, it can become an addiction! I do not want to buy it, I want to give it to my wife."

"Well, well, how come I do not know you are married? But seriously, things are not going well for Priceless right now. Clyde Porter lost a lot of money on a shady investment, so they have lost a lot of contracts. Alan Porter is now turning to all his personal contacts for more contracts and offers. He had to put his personal money into PRICELESS to make up the shortfall. I have heard that he has another fashion company under his name and that PRICELESS is still operating only because of the money he makes there. The artists who have contracts with them are complaining because they are not being bet and so on, it's quite a mess! Right now they need a solid partnership with a good company to restore their name and get more clients. I am telling you, it's a good time to buy them! Come on, this is a shady company that needs to be broken up!"

Eliott chuckled, Christ really loves to bash other people, companies that have thankfully always been bad and make sure the employees of those companies get another job, otherwise he would start to think he was some kind of sociopath "Well that's good news. Thanks, I'll let you know when you can play your favourite game soon! But why am I alone in a meeting room right now? You should hurry up and get your ass over here! If you are late, I'll dock your pay!" 

"Do not do that, boss! I have someone to take care of right now..." Christ chuckled as he picked up his files, looking forward to his new assignment!

Alex for her part was more relaxed after the phone call with Eliott, she was able to focus on her work in peace and so the shoot went smoothly that morning. The photographer and the director of the shoot were so happy with the result that they kept praising her for her beauty and even more for her professionalism.

At first, they were afraid to work with her because they thought she was another diva. But to their surprise, she was professional and had no complaints. By 2pm the shoot, which always took a whole day with other models, was over. Alex was exhausted. Since she had nothing else to do that day, she decided to go home and get some rest before her long-awaited meeting with her so-called father. 

When she arrived home, she was hungry after working for five hours straight. The two girls were too lazy to cook, so they ordered some food. While they were eating, Alex's phone rang, it was Eliott. She put down the chicken wing she was holding, wiped it off and took the call. 

"Hi," her voice was a little muffled as she was still enjoying her chicken.

"Hi, what are you eating?" 

"How did you know?"

"I know all about you, miss. Did you have a good morning? I heard you had a photo shoot this morning."

"Yeah, it was cool and fun. How about you?"

"I have a lot to do, I have not even eaten yet. It would be so nice if someone could bring me some food..." Eliott tries to whine in a cute voice.

"Poor you, how about I bring you something? Then we can give your sister a bit of a headache tomorrow with the headline," Alex offered to tease him.

"I do not want to upset her... I'll help myself to something to go! By the way, Priceless was having financial problems. Thanks to the income your grandfather made from his clothing brand and factory, the company is able to continue. It's a good thing he did not merge the two businesses. So be smart when you ask what you want from him, okay?"

Alex was slightly surprised, she could not remember talking to him about her grandfather's business, she had not even told him about her own brand. "You already knew about my grandfather's company? Well, that's a logical thought given our relationship with our mother."

Eliott just chuckled at her remark. If she only knew how much he knew about her, she'd surely freak out, he thought.

"Okay, thanks for that message, I'll put it to good use," Alex concluded.

"You are welcome, sweetie. Call me when you are done with him! Kisses!" 

"Okay, kisses" 

Fidelia, who was eating in front of her friend, heard everything she said. She looked at her with a questioning look as if asking her what happened.. Alex knew what that look meant, so she told Fidelia what Eliott had told her. The two girls looked at each other before Fidelia exclaimed, "God is always on the side of good people, you know!"
