Chapter 69 - We Need To Talk

When Alan saw her leave the room with her head held high, he had the urge to smash everything in the room, because he was really angry. He was blindsided by Alex, he was still dazed and his head was buzzing just thinking about what he had lost and he could not believe how she could blindside him like that, just like a little kid? She was not like her mother, not a woman who could be fooled or manipulated.

Anyway, this deal was for the best. He tried to convince himself that even if he had to give back the old Michell company and brand, he could still empty that company's bank account before giving it back to Alex. That way he would not lose too much on this deal. The factory was still operating, but it was not as good as it used to be, and he only kept it because the old man's brand was still bringing in money.

Besides, PRICELESS was his priority. It was the company his father had built for him, it was his legacy, and he had worked hard all his life to build a good corporate image and make it one of the biggest companies in the country. He had worked hard all his life to make his company one of the best, and for him, nothing could bring it down, even if he had to sacrifice a child to do it. Protecting it was his number one duty, and Alex was the only person who could help him now, and there was no way he was going to let that chance slip away.

Even though Priceless was still a huge company on the surface, it was just an empty shell now, and it was all thanks to his stupid son. His shareholders were making a fuss and wanted him sacked as chairman of the company. Alan was even more outraged because those shareholders were members of his family! His uncles and their children all tried to bring him down, while he was the one who had to feed them all those years.

But once they knew his daughter was marrying into the Jensen family, the tide would turn and his dominance and power would return! Alex had made it easier for him by revealing their relationship at their last press conference. Now people knew they were father and daughter, and once they learned she was going to be married to Eliott Jensen, he would gain even more prestige and his power in his business would increase even more. People who had started to look down at him would regret it!

After leaving the room, Alex went straight to where Fidelia was waiting for her. To her surprise, she was talking to Leila and eating happily. Alex joined them, sitting down a little tired from all the excitement she had felt dealing with her father. But seeing the two women together in front of her made her even more curious, so her tiredness disappeared, replaced by curiosity and she looked at them with a questioning look.

"I saw Leila in passing and invited her to sit with me while I waited for you! I have been feeling lonely and having Leila with me has made the waiting time shorter. "So, how was the conversation? What did the old man want from you? "

"I had a meeting here and saw Fifi on her way out, looking like a lost child. Eliott told me about your meeting with your father, so I was waiting for you to have something to chat about." Leila added.

"You guys are real gossips, but to sum up our conversation, he asked me to marry Eliott and in return, I asked him to give me back my grandfather's company and I accepted my mother's shares he offered me," Alex smirked as she looked into their satisfied face.

Fidelia doubted the wily old man could grant such a request. In the many years she had been with Alex, she had learned how cruel Alex's father was, so she could not believe he had really given her what she had asked for.

"If you tell me that he agreed to this so readily, I will say that your father has lost his mind!"

"Well, he agreed on one condition: He will give me the company only in the condition in which he took it from my mother at that time. In other words, he's giving me a company with no funds, maybe even no employees... I do not know how his perverted mind works, but I do not care, the main thing is that I have it back!"

"That son of a bitch, he's so cunning! He knows exactly how to rob people!"

"How big is your grandfather's company? I heard it was his cash those days and that it was the only reason Priceless survived the bankruptcy.

Alex thought a bit, she really did not know how to describe the value of the company, "Not that big, there are three manufactories and a number of shops. To tell the truth, it's the brand that makes money, because I have seen some clothes that really were not worth anything. Come to think of it, since Alan took over the company, the products made by the brand are really bad. But a lot of people are still loyal to the brand, so the products are still selling well, but not as well as they used to! My grandfather's products were top-notch!"

"I used to not pay much attention to the Porter family because they have always disgusted me. And my mother does not like to talk about her past with that family, so I do not know much about your grandfather's brand!" Leila explained cluelessly, without asking Eliott to enlighten her about Alex's situation, she didn't know much about her inheritance.

"You probably know the brand, it's been around for a long time. The brand we are talking about is called KANI, it used to be infamous but unfortunately, Alan got it into this lame state!" explained Alex.

"I can not believe it! One of the twenty best selling brands in our country? I did not know it was run by Alan and that it was originally owned by your grandfather! I mean, I did not know that the legendary Mr. Michell was your grandfather!" Leila was shocked that her mother had never told her that the brand came from Alex's grandfather. She remembered that her mother only wore that brand back then.

"Well, now it's mine again and I am going to make it one of the top five most purchased brands like it used to. I want my grandfather to be proud of me!"

The three girls stayed there to drink a few cocktails and talk before heading home.

When Alex arrived home, she took a quick shower and then went to Eliott's house. She really wanted to see him and tell him all about their meeting and the outcome of her conversation with Alan. She rang his doorbell, but he did not answer, she waited a few minutes but nothing. She remembered the passcode he had given her and saying that it was her house now and she could go in as she liked!

She opened the door and unceremoniously entered the house. She sat down on the couch and began patiently watching TV while she waited for him. Oddly enough, she really felt like she was home as she sat there on the big cosy couch and covered herself with his blanket that had his good smell on it.

As Leila was about to head for the door, she saw a tall, slender man leaning against the wall next to the door. When she saw him, she immediately stopped and turned around, but before she could take a step back, a firm and slightly calloused hand stopped her from her run, and a sweet yet deep voice was heard: "We must talk now, Leila! Until when are we going to play this game?" Leila looked at him with a deep frown, trying desperately to break free.

He was a man she did not want to face now. She had avoided him since his return to the country and that was how he felt today. She knew if he was here, it meant she could not avoid the long-awaited conversation. But she really did not want to talk about it now. She tried to break free even more, but the man in front of her did not even care about her struggle as his grip tightened.

He lifted her up and carried her on his shoulders like a big sack while she did her best to break free. Outside the door, the man did not even take a minute before taping six numbers and opening the door like it was his home.

Entering the house, he slowly sat her down on the couch, taking a glass of water from the table and handing it to her before sitting down right next to her, giving her no time to escape.
