The heat spread, rolling like the tide.
This majestic medicinal property was blocked within Zhou Kai’s body by the Saber Qi. Alongside Zhou Kai’s simple stance-tempering technique, it was slowly absorbed and refined, which strengthened his bones and nourished his five viscera.
After a long time, the heat dissipated and the Saber Qi weakened. Zhou Kai spat out a mouthful of turbid Qi, feeling relaxed and sensing that his strength had risen. Thanks to his power, his 50-kilo long saber, which relied on the Saber Qi to drive it, felt light and unaffected.
This Origin Fostering Pill was indeed miraculous, as it had allowed his body to advance by several levels, almost saving him the equivalent of a year or two of stance-training that an ordinary person would have needed.
However, there was only one pill. If he’d had more of them, that would have been awesome.
As he sighed, Zhou Kai found himself sweating in a jet-black color. Clearly, some impurities of his body had been forced out by the tempering process thanks to the Origin Fostering Pill.
This was a good thing, as the fewer impurities his body had, the more impressive his body would become and the better his appetite would be.
After putting down his long saber, Zhou Kai started analyzing the notebook and the red pen.
The red pen was a felt-tip pen with a dark red shaft that looked as if it had been soaked in blood. The tip of the pen was so hard that it looked as though it had been abandoned.
The notebook was a vintage notebook that had been popular during the Republican period. It was light and thin, with countless indecipherable parts of handwriting and some traditional characters written inside. Zhou Kai flipped through a few pages, and there was actually a very hard, paper-like piece of something stuck inside. When he opened it, he discovered a game with numbers and characters used by an ordinary Pen Spirit drawn on it.
After scanning it a few times, Zhou Kai laughed. “It looks terrifying, but that’s about it. Little Leopard Cat, let’s play together at night.”
Little Leopard Cat, who was holding a secret grudge against Zhou Kai for monopolizing the situation, stared at him and said, “I’m not playing.”
Zhou Kai shot a glance at her. “No, you want to play.”
Little Leopard Cat was speechless.
After Zhou Kai said that, he stood up and picked up the saber before leaving the ancient building. He had just experienced a vast improvement in his body, and it was a good time to practice with his saber, so he couldn’t wait to do so.
Zhou Kai held the long saber on the observation deck and focused his attention on it.
There was a total of three steps to the inherited saber techniques.
Foundation, saber technique, and horse battle.
As far as the foundation was concerned, it was training one’s body and getting adapted and familiar with the saber. Zhou Kai had cheated with the Saber Qi and built his foundation using the Origin Fostering Pill, so he had completed achievements that would have taken other people several years. As a result, he started to work on the second step, which involved practicing with his saber, straight away.
The saber technique wasn’t that profound and it contained a total of eight strokes. It was called the Eight Forms of Violent Battle and it was a saber technique that had developed from the battlefield. It was simple and direct, and each move was fatal.
If one combined these eight strokes, used them differently, and became proficient in them, one could enter the battlefield and be invincible.
The second step would take the average person a longer time to cultivate, sometimes even as long as a lifetime.
This was because this step did not only require one to continue tempering one’s body and maintain enough physical strength and power but to also become familiar with the variables of the saber strokes.
The so-called Eight Forms of Violent Battle were just the foundation of the saber technique. If one could fuse these eight saber techniques into the body, evolve them into 16, 32, or even more variables, they would then be considered successful.
Zhou Kai had directly inherited decades of saber technique, thus completely taking a shortcut and saving himself countless hours.
However, reaching the peak required enough effort.
Eight saber techniques constantly floated in his heart. When Zhou Kai’s wrist shook, the long saber emerged with a roar and slashed high up in the sky. Then, the saber aura couldn’t be withdrawn. It poured out just like the howling wind and the heavy rain, and Zhou Kai wielded the saber formidably, looking incomparably fierce.
He finished the eight forms of killing technique in no time and stood with his saber put away, unhurried and content.
That was really cool. Based on that set of saber techniques, it wouldn’t be too much to call me a Saber Dao Master, right? Who would dare to openly challenge me? I’d slash them with my saber.
“Idiot.”
Suddenly, he heard a word.
Zhou Kai, who was stunned, looked left and right before he suddenly raised his long saber. He stared at her and said, “Hey, are you the one who was just talking about me?”
“When it comes to the Eight Forms of Violent Battle, the saber is violent, but not the person is not. A saber wielded like a dragon is fatal. A person is as calm as water and pays attention to all directions. If one is spouting nonsense in one’s heart, one will not survive over three seconds on the battlefield.”
She spoke without restraint.
Zhou Kai, who was gloomy, was about to berate her. However, he suddenly paused and changed his mind before he laughed. “Not bad. I think I stole this technique from your inheritance. Speaking of that, your seniors are definitely more impressive than me given their decades of practicing with the saber. Do you want to teach me? I’d also be considered your disciple. You wouldn’t be on the losing end of the deal if you were to teach me.”
She was silent.
Just as Zhou Kai thought she wouldn’t agree, he suddenly heard her say, “Practice it once more.”
Zhou Kai was secretly elated.
Being scolded or beaten by someone was not a big deal. As long as he could become stronger, any hardship was just a setback he had to face.
Without hesitation, Zhou Kai took a deep breath and concentrated. He assumed his stance and rushed forward abruptly. When he tried to perform the first move of the saber technique, the long saber halted, bringing forth a force that caused his body to tilt and made him nearly fall.
“F*ck, what’s going on?” Zhou Kai was shocked.
“You were too slow with the saber. Your side is vulnerable. If you’re not vigilant and someone shoots an arrow from your left side, you’ll die.” The explanation was clear and simple.
Zhou Kai’s mouth twitched.
Is this your guidance? Are you serious? Someone would really shoot an arrow?
Come to think of it, that seems right.
Pointing out one’s biggest mistakes and loopholes and marking out problems is more effective than words.
Perhaps, as long as I can perform the Eight Forms of Violent Battle with no mishap under this big boss’ guidance, I will be able to graduate!
After coming back to his senses, Zhou Kai didn’t utter a word and assumed his stance once again before slashing with his saber. However, before the saber aura was withdrawn, another force came, accompanied by a voice’s explanation. “If an enemy fakes their death, hides beside you, and sneaks an attack on you, you’ll die.”
Zhou Kai’s mouth twitched, and he clenched his teeth. He kept the question in mind and continued to practice. However, his movements kept stopping and she pointed his problems out with her voice. Each time, Zhou Kai would die by getting caught off guard. It was simply as though the God of Death had set his eyes on him. Any mistake he made would lead in the most bizarre way to death.
After doing it once, Zhou Kai was soaked in sweat and felt a little distracted.
He had even thought of himself as a Saber Dao Master while he had been in high spirits. However, he was now doubting his own life after she’d pointed out his mistakes.
“Again.”
This time, Zhou Kai took the initiative to do it. He performed his move with his saber and accepted all kinds of accidental attacks.
Time slowly flew by.
When Zhou Kai felt that his body was so tremendously exhausted that he couldn’t continue to practice, it was already two or three in the afternoon.
“The most terrifying saber technique is becoming one with the saber, expecting the enemy’s preemptive attacks, and being able to face any kind of impossible harm from any direction easily. Only then will you complete the Eight Strokes of Violent Battle. We’ll stop here today and continue tomorrow.” After she said that, silence fell.
Zhou Kai lay on the ground. Although he was exhausted, he was satisfied.
The feeling of improvement was really invigorating.
