90 A Low

Dawn felt a bit empty now. Her vengeance was fulfilled. The Grimshades were all dead. Unless there had been some not here, but if they waited till night fall, it should become clear.

She wandered over where that Nix'Rylian girl was. She was awake now, though looking uncomfortable. Though she was lucky to be alive. If Miria had not decided to save her she would be dead.

The woman was idly picking at the bloodstains on her dress. She looked as Dawn approached, "You're the leader here, right?"

"Yes."

"Well, I should thank you for your timely rescue then." A polite smile came to the woman's face, "And I should repay that favor. My order has a habit of not leaving ourselves in people's debt. So, why don't I put you up for the night in my home? I have quite a few guestrooms that are hardly ever used now."

Dawn frowned. What if there were more Grimshades?

The woman seemed to understand what Dawn was thinking because she let out a soft laugh and spoke calmly, "You got them all. They were a fairly small sized group for what they were attempting."

Dawn actually could find nothing wrong with this sad eyed woman. So, she agreed to the offer. She was sure that her companions would like to sleep in a bed for a night before they started the journey back.

She sent Raven to fetch the animals. It did not take him long, as they came readily to him. But as they waited, she decided that it would probably be polite to ask their new acquaintance her name.

The woman sighed, "Rena Briarwood Lokhaven. Rena is fine though."

Dawn gave her a quick rundown over all of their names. As she did so, she observed Rena. She was a tall woman, and a rather pretty one to boot. There was something naturally charming about her, even with a bloodied dress. Though she was smiling, her eyes looked sad, as if she had a deep emotional pain.

Dawn did not bother asking about it. It was none of her business and the woman seemed friendly enough.

There was one thing she was curious of, "You have a house? I didn't think that was a thing here."

"It is true most do not. However I am a member of the Order of the Stars. We tend to keep to ourselves. Most of us died out, I am the last member alive, at least who would be in good standing. My house was wrought in protections."

"Wouldn't it have been built after?"

Rena smiled, "No."

She did not elaborate, leaving Dawn confused by her way of talking. There was not really an opportunity to ask anything else as everyone was ready to be on their way.

Dawn felt slightly uncomfortable swinging up beside of Raven on her griffin. Especially when he scooted next to her. She really had no idea what was going through his mind right now.
