8 To live than get killed

Lin Rehan's fingers suddenly stiffened, but she asked with a trembling voice while her heart skipped a beat after hearing how Aryen calls her. "What did you call me?" 

Her eyes widened in disbelief. Lin Rehan can't be mistaken, only Lyra has ever called her Mrs Lin when she was still under her supervision. "Did you just call me Mrs Lin?" 

Aryen: "..." 

Due to her emotions, it was too late for Aryen to realize how she called Lin Rehan. She knew it will be challenging for her to pretend and lie while living as a new person. 

She opened her mouth to speak, but Aryen doesn't know what to say. She is not used to lie while it always shows her emotions on her eyes. 

"This can't be.. Are you... Lyra?" Lin Rehan's voice remained shaking, but she holds Aryen's face with her two hands while she looked at her up and down with wide eyes. 

Heart began pumping fast. Aryen doesn't know what to do while she failed to pretend to be someone else in front of the person she always treated as her second mother. 

Nevertheless, there's a suspicion that suddenly formed on her mind, Lin Rehan's words made her think that she knew something about the lab. 

Moreover, Aryen remembered that aside from her, there were several employees who went missing the same night that she was taken as a test subject. 

Therefore, she took a deep breath and said. "I'm sorry CEO Lin. I was used to call my elders that way. Please forgive me for my disrespectful greetings." 

Unfortunately, Lin Rehan shook her head. "No, the tone and the way you speak, it was the same as my daughter. You might not look like her but your actions, I can't be mistaken." 

"Even though we've only been together for a year, I know my daughter well. It is you.. I know it's you.. But how? What happened to you?" Lin Rehan continued. Not letting Aryen to speak. 

Confusions began to spread on Aryen's mind, at first, she thought that Lin Rehan has something to do with the lab, but with her words gave Aryen a second thought. 

Therefore, Aryen's mind is debating with her heart. She keeps asking herself if she should tell Lin Rehan the truth or should she lie and keep pretending. 

Nonetheless, her emotions won than her mind, Aryen took a deep breath before she faintly speaks. "If I say that I'm Lyra, will you keep it a secret for me to live than get killed?" 

Aryen's words were like a lightning that struck Lin Rehan's heart, she immediately grabs her chest like she will have a heart attack after hearing Aryen's claim. 

When she almost stumbles on the floor, Aryen immediately held her on her arm and walk towards the sofa to sit. "Mrs Lin, I'm sorry I'll explain everything." 

However, before Aryen can say more, Lin Rehan pulled her and wrapped her arms tightly around Aryen. Her body is trembling while her voice is shaking. "Who did this to you?" 

Tears fall on her cheeks. Lin Rehan can't help but cry hard while she tightened her embrace and speaks with an anguish voice. "I won't tell anyone, I promise I will do what I can to protect you. You're my daughter." 

Although she has no idea how it is possible for Aryen to look different than what she used to, Lin Rehan can only think of technologies that can change someone's appearance. 

As for Aryen, Lin Rehan's words were like a soft breeze blowing on her heart. She can't help but to encircled her arms around Lin Rehan and started crying on her shoulder. 

"I don't know.. They.. They all experimented on me. I was just lucky to run away." Aryen speaks with a crying voice, while deep in her heart, she is thankful to have Lin Rehan on her side. 

Like a terrible hailstorm that hits Lin Rehan's heart, she felt like her body was frozen after hearing what happened to Aryen. She pushes Aryen from her body to look at her. 

"Experiment? They.. Treated you like an animal?!" Lin Rehan's voice cannot hide her anger, her heart was like being smashed into a million times.
