Chapter 82: The Little War (1)

Wrik found himself in the wilderness again after he entered the test.

[Welcome, Wrik Everknight to the first floor of the Maha tower.]

The wilderness was much more distant compared to the trial he went through. It was crueller and chiller too. Well, it's the test of the first floor of the mythical tower, and Wrik expects it to reach the next level with each test, but this looked like they had skipped a few levels in between.

The place where Writ was dropped to, was full of long grass, long enough to hide his body from the above, even when he was standing. But the grass was not of Wrik's concern for now, as he felt the freezing weather here. Even though he was wearing the armour with the black hooded clock above, the weather made him shiver more than a couple of times.

That was not all. "Shit!" Wrik cursed when he tried to soothe the chilly feeling with mahasaying. This place was similar to the special chamber they had trained in the sanctuary, but it's way crueller compared to the good training chamber.

The training chamber only made the maha mana in the room unstable, harder to grasp, but this awful place not only had unstable maha mana, but there was also a chilly feeling to it. It invaded his mana circuit the moment he tried circulating it.

Wrik tried circulating the mana inside his body, as he felt a cold chill at the very moment, making his spine shiver in its coldness. And that was after he had trained in the special chamber for more than a month. He could not guess what his state would have been if he was oblivious to the training.

"Sophia was right to train us in that chamber for six hours each day," Wrik mused. "Now I know why."

The blonde woman did not just train them to have stable growth, but she also prepared them for the first floor's test without them knowing. Well, Sophia did mention she could not even utter a single word about the trial, as it was restricted by the OMEGANET to tell the participants about the test before it began.

'What else Sophia mentioned,' Wrik thought inwardly as his legs moved in those long grass. He could not see where he was going, but he had to move. Remaining static in one place was not an option, moreover, he was in a place full of grass. 'Alone I can achieve little,' he recalled what Sophia imparted to him. "I need to find others, Ton, Tanya. . ."

His thoughts were broken with a sudden chill. "Shit!" Wrik cursed again. Walking in with a busy mind was not the right decision he had made. These green and yellow grasses are not without danger. Wrik found that out rather painfully.

A nasty little viper bit him on the legs. Pain and fear assaulted Wrik's senses at once as he jerked his legs, yet the green viper still struck on his leg. With the slash of his sword, he cut that damn thing into two pieces, yet the mouth still struck his lower leg. After a few jerks, it finally dropped to the ground.

"Goddamn!" he cursed. Wrik was never a religious person, but he cursed in the name of god. Well, the best of the curses came in the name of the almighty.

The cursing did little to nothing to amend his pain, as Wrik revolved the mana inside his body to put resistance against the poison, and he was successful to some degree. He did not fret an eye on the chilly mana as it invaded his channel. His entire concentration was on resisting the poison.

He opened the baggage on his back, and frank a vial of antivenom. They all had prepared for these things before the test.

Wrik sighed as he inspected the dead viper with the [Eye of Insights]. The thing was little, just over half a metre, green as the grasses, making it a prime predator here. But Wrik was more concerned about how it could bite him even though he was wearing full body armour. The report from the inspection only made his guess right.

[Target: Grass Viper (Dead)

Even though it was only a Normal grass viper, after staying in this place with unstable, chilly mahamana, it evolved into something more. Its poison got the chiller attribute, as it could infect a person with only a little contact. .. ]

Wrik was right, this little snake's poison could not kill him, but can make him suffer a lot if he did not resist it at the very moment.

He closed his eye for a moment as he thought about disabling the [Eye of Insights], but decided against it. Who knows how many of those vipers are in the grass, and nobody said there wasn't something else, more venomous than the viper. The silvery shine in the corona on his eyes diminished by a bit, but there's still a little amount of white light left in them.

After Training his perception with the ability, Wrik managed to gain an insight into the ability which led him to use the [Eye of Insights] for a whole lot more time. Well, two and a half hours to be exact, and he could regain the silver glow back with just a blink.

Wrik had divided them into two levels. In the first level, he could control his entire amount of perception, with better control in mahasaying. While the second level sucked his mental power in minutes, almost boasted his perception, and maha mana applications to double their effectiveness. He had decided to never use it until it's truly required.

With the entire effect of 46 points in Perception, Wrik advanced. The sword was in his arms, ready to slash any moment, as the maha points in his mana channel. After the training over a month, Wrik had 127 maha points, only 4 less than Anton, who was top of the class. He was ready to put together armament reinforcement any moment he felt any disturbance in the grass as he strode with fast pace.

. . .

"Why is it always me that comes across dangers," Byul muttered, hiding in a hedge.

In front of her were a dozen figures armed in weapon and armour. One of them stood out among the others. He had a tall and broad body about two-and-a-half meters, dark-skinned with just as tall as a spear in his back. Even Kevin might look less impressive in front of this giant. While the others were not as tall, some of them were tall, white, some were just average.

Byul knew this lot weren't any righteous bunch the moment she met them, and they might even be more heinous than the people she met on the trial before. How did she know that? She had seen them abuse women, even men, whenever they had free time in their stroll. She could very much guess some of them were theirs captive, yet they were following orders like a puppet.

Byul's first thought was to run the moment she came across them, but running around alone would only make them alert, and also there might be the type of groups all around here. So she decided to hide and wait.
