Chapter 92: Seize the Flag (3)

"Its only been a couple of days I was here, but you would not believe me how chaotic this place already is. . ."

"Let me guess," Aasan interrupted again, sipping in another mouthful of wine. "Enslavement. Rape. Killing?"

Michelle frowned at the gentleman. Each of the words he said was heinous than the other. The first thought Michelle had—Aasan was kidding. How could participants do such a thing in the test in the eyes of the upper member of the omega council? Would not they stop it before anything like that happen?

"There has not been many killings yet," Sitara said quietly. "Or I've not noticed it."

"So slavery, and Rape then," Aasan said carefreely, as the two act he mentioned were mere words.

Sitara nodded as she looked at the redhead with the corner of her eyes. Her eyes shone a little, finding what she was looking for.

Aasan noticed that as well. He said laughingly, as if the conversation before was nothing serious to him. "Now I know why you chose her as the leader for the stronghold. You think she's pure, innocent to cause any crime, and would be easy to manipulate. Am I right?"

Sitara glared at Aasan with quivering lips. She probably would have kick him in the back if she could.

"Well, you are probably right," Aasan said, looking at the redhead. Her expression showed just what he said, purity and innocence. It was as he had expected she could not believe anything he had said. Well, it's not her fault, she may not even be an adult yet.

"How could they do something like this?" Michelle asked. "Doesn't the examiner stop it?"

"The examiner would not care less about something that happens every day in the tower, unless it involves some influential parties," Aasan snorted. "As for why the participant do that?" he paused for a moment before saying, "Probably for fun and for the sake of the test. As far as the authorities of the Tower are concerned, they would allow anything that does not go against their values.

"While the participant's justifications will be like: it would only for the test, or I did not bring any rules, et Cetra."

Michelle looked at the tall girl who also nodded slowly.

"How do you know all this?" Michelle eyed Aasan, controlling her emotions from wailing up. "After the teleportation, we're almost always together. How do you know all this?"

"I'm much older than you," Aasan said as he continued to enjoy the wine.

Michelle heavy breathed a few times as her expression calmed down. After pondering a little, she asked Sitara. "Tell me what you know about the test."

Sitara looked at the redhead in the eyes. She's stronger than she had assumed. "As of now, all the participants from all the eight sanctuaries have entered the test zone, but the ones that came first still hold the advantage. As far as I know, 7 of the 16 flags had been founded, while most of them were over the grassland. There should not be any other fortress here in the mountains. So our priority would be to strengthen our ranks while adopting more participants.

"Even though the mountain is full disadvantages with the cold and blizzards, it had some advantage as well. None of the other flag holders would come in, raiding a place full of chilly wind first

"Are you really saying this?" Aasan could not help but sounded out. "Just after you got your ass kicked by only two?"

"What's wrong with my hypothesis?" Sitara frowned, blushing a little. "Even though you two succeeded, I can say luck played a big role in it. We are not prepared, and did not have enough men to guard all the way. I'm not downing your strength, but you have to admit it, you two are quite lucky."

"You are right," Aasan nodded. "But what makes you think others won't be lucky as us?"

Sitara furrowed her brows. "You may be right, but there's a little to no chance of someone as skilled as you two would come again."

"Are you sure about that?"

"I thought you are confident of your strength, but it seems I was wrong," Sitara said. It sounded mocking but she did not intend it that way. It was just the look of Aasan that made it that way.

"I'm confident, but not blind."

"Sitara, you continue," Michelle broke their conversation again.

"Look, the trial would continue for at least a couple of months, there's a low chance of our shelter getting attack in the beginning. And we can protect it easily if it's just some bunch of nobody. Our goal should be to strengthen us first, finding any weapons or resources we find." Sitara paused for a moment. "And the reason, why I'm so sure no powerful group would come our way is because of Scythe."

"Scythe? What was that?" Michelle asked, finding it odd.

"You guys just came today so you don't know him," Sitara continued. "Scythe had become the legend of the testing zone just after he came here. He already claimed the biggest region of the north, and guess what, that's the path that leads here to the mountain. So you can rest assured no one would come here crossing him, even if they came they would be in small numbers."

"Wait a minute, this Scythe guy. Why are you making such a big deal about it?" Michelle could not help but ask.

"You will understand it after you know how he became the leader here, as far as I know, he already has three flags under him with a couple of hundred underlings, moreover he himself was an undefeatable monster," Sitara started to tell the legend about the Psyche. "In the test zone, everyone knows his name by now, and the deeds he has accomplished by now, make everyone frighten him just by name."

''So you are telling us, we're protected by some dangerous guy?'' Aasan continued sipping his wine. "Yet our guardian angel does not know that? So what would happen if he finds out that there are some lambs in his garden playing around under his name?"

Sitara went silent for a second, before mumbling, "As far as I can tell, our small fortress would not attract him, besides he had other things to take care of."

Aasan shook his head, listening to all this. "I can't continue like this. I need rest," he said, carrying the bottle of wine. "Where can I find an empty room?"

"Are you not going to continue listening?" Michelle asked.

"I can't think clearly," he sighed. "All the plans of this lady heavily depend on others. I don't very much follow this kind of plan. I'll listen to the gist of it tomorrow."

''Alright," Michele nodded.

Aasan eyed the former leader of the fortress as she answered.

"Go straight to the right, you can stay in the second room on the left."

"Good night then," Saying that Aasan left carrying the bottle of wine.

"Is he always cocky like this?" Sitara asked Michelle.

"Probably," Michelle snickered. "So continue what you know about the test."
