The appointments all passed quickly as Nolan's pile of morning quizzes thinned. He started on his own homework as only a couple of people remained seated in the waiting room. The nurse had logged Nolan into the front desk computer where after he had done some exploring, he found an excel spreadsheet with the accounting data. Nolan could see that there were various names with currencies and amount that were all jumbled and totalled in a haphazard manner. Nolan scrolled through it with a stunned expression as he could not believe that the clinic was not being managed correctly.
He carefully fixed some rows and columns with quick precision. The walker moved in front of him slowly as Dr Wu came into view. This was actually the last patient for tonight so Dr Wu's face was serene as she wiped the sweat off of her face. She leaned over the counter and gave him a mischievous grin. "Do you know how long its been since I got off early? It's been two years according to Katherine, my nurse practitioner. I cannot believe that today of all days I got to have the afternoon free. It's a miracle all thanks to you. I don't understand how you are a better manager than my nurses and receptionists. If you are looking for some free cash I would be happy to hire you part time. If you had a degree I wouldn't blink to give you full time and pay you double."
"The secret is not everyone was here to see you. Since you have a lot of patients that don't speak english your specialty and services were lost in translation. It was more than just figuring out what everyone needed and directing them to the right place to go. Other folks were a bit rowdy and some were just drowning in being ignored." Nolan leaned back and the chair behind him served as an excellent back scratch for the muscles that had tightened in his lower back from sitting too long. "I am more terrified to see you try to deal with that horde without security and more staff. You should have more than one nurse."
"They always take these free consult days off. They say it's the best day to take off just like my front desk. I should fire them. But I haven't gotten around to it. Now Henry is my boss I don't even have to hesitate." Dr Wu looked hopefully at the empty chairs that bobbed back and forth. "Maybe you could recommend me some college students who want some experience in a hospital? I know you're not pre-med but maybe you could put up a flier?"Find authorized novels in Webnovel, faster updates, better experience,Please click www.novelhall.comfor visiting.
Nolan wondered if he would have liked to work here if he had chosen to become a nurse instead of a researcher. It was tempting just to spend more time with the lovely lady standing in front of him. But in truth he had really enjoyed the management aspect of the task. It has satisfied both his love of organizing and connecting with an underrepresented community. It hot all of his interests perfectly.
