Although Henry would never be caught dead within an inch of Nolan, it did say that there had been a general understanding that had formed between the two of them over their mutual concern of Ellie. Nolan had actually scrolled through every single contact on his phone twice before deciding he should try his brother-in-law. He came after five so he would catch the man before he went to his after hours office time. Michael had whispered to Nolan that Henry was in his reclining room and in a good mood.
Henry had an open can of expresso that he was pouring into a mug when Nolan walked into the room. He looked up with an amused expression as he stirred a couple coffee creamers into the mug he was slowly stirring. Nolan's presence in the room brought a tight almost smile to his usually humorless face. It was progress. Henry put the spoon down on the saucer next to him as he raised the cup to blow on it. His eyes flickered up to meet Nolan's watching stare. "Are you wondering how it tastes? You can have some if you'd like. I wasn't too sure if anyone likes Columbian roast as much as I do. It's a shame really that no one in my social circle really cares for it. I wish I could share it with Ellie, but she's out with one of her friends who has a relationship issue. I really want her to go out more, so I let her take a car. I am always happy to pay the speeding ticket. I'm kidding. That was a joke, can you reward me with fake laughter at least? I know my sense of humor can run very dry."
"No. It wasn't funny. I know how my sister drives. She is careful and even if she decided to speed, she had good intuition. Ellie would never get caught. She also texted me that she went to see Olga because she's sad about her boyfriend's cancer coming back. She's annoyed she has to sit there through all the crying, but Ellie is determined to be a good friend." Nolan sniffed the coffee from Henry's mug and found it smelled so strongly that it made his stomach turn. "You know I think I'll pass on that drink, whatever it is. I didn't come here to see Ellie actually or talk to you about her."
"Strange." Henry nodded slowly as he took a drink, he shot a look at Michael who was peering in from the doorway. "Get us the whiskey and some cigars? You look nervous. Sit. I'm not going to kick you out, I have been in the mood all day for company, but I didn't want to go out for a meeting. Golf is boring. Women I can't touch. I would like to drink and reflect. We have here a golden opportunity. Today, you are welcome to ask whatever you like. Name you issue and let's see what I can do."
