Chapter 344 - Playing The Game

[This chapter is dedicated to Suman_Borse. Thank you for bestowing our story with your power stones!]

He was in and out of consciousness but he was pumped with so much drugs he had no idea of what was really happening. He had no idea if it was still a day or already night. One thing he was sure of was that he was no longer lying on the hard floor of the walk-in closet where his father beat the hell out of him.

He felt the familiar firmness of a mattress and the disgusting smell of disinfectant. The one that seemed to be always present in a hospital. However, he was quite sure that he wasn't in a hospital. His father won't be that kind to send him to a hospital.

"Sir, it's time for your medicine."

He heard the soft gentle sound of a woman, reminding him of his medicine as if he had the idea of the time. When he opened his eyes, it's the first time that he was awake enough to hear the nurse's voice clearly. Well, he was thinking she was a nurse, although her nurse uniform was lewd for a nurse—that if she was actually working in a hospital, she would be sued for indecency. Her white blouse was so tight across her ample breast, he could see half of them and she's not even wearing a brassiere which made her nipples visible in the silky material of the clothes. Her skirt was too short to be a decent uniform–it displayed her long, lean legs, and well-rounded buttocks that could make any man hitch their breath and thought of demanding for the girl to bend down.

He smirked inwardly. He's quite sure that this woman was one of his father's playmates or rather, toys. That's how he treated these women around him. In his sick mind, he finds these women, clothed in degrading outfits, as something hilariously funny.

"What day is it today?" His voice cracked when he opened his mouth.

The nurse straightened her back, jabbed a needle on the IV that was hanging next to his bed. It seemed that his question didn't reach her ears. "Excuse me, may I know what day it is today?"

The woman bit her lower lip and her hands shook that some liquid from the syringe spilled. She heaved a deep sigh as she picked up the metal tray that she put on his bedside table. "Your wounds are healing clearly. The doctor advised that you stay three days more in bed." The nurse smiled at him, bent down in front of his face to fix the blanket that was covering him. Her breasts were grazing right in his face that if he lifted his chin, he could have her hard nipples in his mouth without much difficulty.  He couldn't help but chuckle. "My father must be watching. Thanks."

The nurse straightened up, checked his IV once again while humming a song that he couldn't place where he heard before she left him in the room without a word. He could feel the heaviness of his body and the slight panic that slowly rose from his chest, knowing that he was in bed for three days. The woman must be an old playmate of his father that she already knew how to play along with. He exhaled a deep breath slowly. There was a burning in his chest every time he breathed. His father must have broken his ribcage. It was the last thought in his head before he succumbed to deep sleep.

She was biting her right thumb as she paced the quiet laboratory. She had been calling Stefan for two days on his private phone. She did the necessary precaution at the beginning but after not hearing anything from him for four days, she did something stupid. He called his other phone and she almost dropped the phone when she heard the chilling voice of someone she knew from work. She knew the man's voice in a different name than the one that he uttered when he answered Stefan's voice. He introduced himself as Stefan's father. The Owl was Stefan's father. She shuddered with the realization that dawned on her. The head of the organization that she and Stefan belong to was headed by his father.

She was pacing the room non-stop. She was so scared for her life that she didn't bother to come home. In this lab, she felt a bit secure. Only people with the right authorization could enter this part of the lab that doesn't offer access to other scientists that work in the same building and company. Her studies in this laboratory were veiled as something else than what she was actually working on. In the street, she was going to be called a 'cook' even though she wasn't preparing a meal. In this cold room, she cooks and prepares high-end drugs that are catered to only a few who can afford them. Her drugs varied to each and everyone's needs. She wouldn't even try to name the drugs that she concocted for they weren't for faint-hearted. She once made a drug that make an eight-year-old kid beg, old disgusted men for sex.

She pulled her phone from the right pocket of her lab coat. She searched for Noah's number and stared at it while biting her thumb. She had many regrets in her life and on top of that list was letting Noah go. He and Lucille were the only ones that came out good in all of her life choices.

She does not want to hurt people but she does not really care where and to whom the drugs that she made for the organization were used. She just followed orders and she got paid. The rest wasn't her problem anymore. She paid for the prize of her sin. She lost the two people that matter to her in her life. And she won't chicken out now if she wants to protect them.

She exhaled a deep breath and shoved her phone back in her lab pocket.. Sparrow should know by now how to take care of himself.
