Chapter 24 - Do You Know Who I Am?

"The information we got from Miss Zimmerman..." he was about to ask his boss, but he threw him a look aimed to kill someone on the spot.

"What about it?" he asked baring his teeth like a dog ready to attack someone.

Antonio flinched with Noah's stormy mood but he has to ask him, to confirm things. He liked polishing all tasks that were given to him to perfection. He hates leaving things unfinished.

Thus, even when he knew his boss was in a terrible mood, he needed to ask. "What are we going to do with the information of Miss Zimmerman?" he courageously met his boss's icy glare.

"Leave it to me. I'll decide what to do with it. I want you to find everything you could find about Luke Ravenport, ASAP!"

"Well, for starter, he lives in Miss Zimmerman's apartment," he told him matter-of-factly.

"Right now?" he asked. But before Antonio could answer he turned on his heels and went back to his study room. 'So, they are sharing a house,' he thought, gritting his teeth with the strange emotion that rose from his chest.

He picked up his phone again, debating if it is a good idea to call Jess at this time. In her call, she sounded drunk, and that man named Luke took her phone as not to repeat a mistake. That was what he heard, but it was rather unclear, so he doesn't know for sure what it's really about.

He swiveled his enormous office chair, put the back of his hand on his lips, thinking about Antonio's question. Indeed, what would he do with the information they got about Miss Zimmerman.

He was surprised when he got the dossier of Jess. He never expected her to be who she actually is. She carries herself in such simplicity, that except with the air of arrogance that seems to surround her, you'll never get the idea that she is living a double life.

He scoffed amused. People thought she was being snob, but knowing the things he knew about her, it is clear to see that she was born with it. She was raised to carry that self-confidence that people mistakenly thought of as arrogance.

Miss Zimmerman is a woman not to be reckoned with, he smirked. That just makes things so interesting now. He already threw out the window his original plan not to get involved with her. Now, more than ever, he wanted to get himself involved in Miss Zimmerman's private life.

He wondered if that man named Luke knew who the woman he is sharing an apartment with.

He laced his fingers together, leaned on his computer screen showing childhood photos of Jess from his computer screen. He put his elbows on his oak office desk and rested his chin on his interlocking fingers, grinning.

"My, my Jess. So you grew up with that sullen look on your pretty face." he chuckled softly staring at his computer screen.

He couldn't wait to have dinner with her. He picked up his office phone without taking his eyes off on her photos.

"Antonio, get me a table for two at Matsugen in one of their best private room," he scrolled the information he got about Jess.

It didn't escape his eyes that she loves Japanese food. It's a good thing he got a hold of this information before making reservations at the best French restaurant in town.

"When is the date? And is it for lunch or dinner?" he asked in such formality that Noah wondered if Antonio knew how to have fun.

"Lunch and dinner. When? Until Miss Zimmerman agreed to have a meal with me." he grinned, returning the phone back to its cradle.

Antonio sighed. His boss has gone insane. When did he start wanting these unreasonable orders, he thought. Getting a table at Matsugen would take a lot of calls, asking for favor at the right person to get a table, -- more a private room! And as if that wasn't enough, his boss wanted to have an open reservation. He had gone insane!

Indeed, he has the money and the name but the Matsugen brothers are very particular with their patrons. It's not a question of having the money to be catered at their restaurant, which served Prime Ministers and Presidents of different countries.

A rumor even spread that the restaurant refused entry to the youngest prince of England on the grounds that he wanted to be catered without a reservation. How does his boss expect him to do this monumental task, he asked himself.

--

"Where did you hide my phone?" she asked Luke, slurring her words. She drank the wine too fast on an empty stomach. Added that she didn't sleep last night, the alcohol hit her bad, now she is totally drunk.

"Little Jessie, I beg you to go to bed." he sighed in exasperation. They have been moving in circles, literally and figuratively.

Not only with the hidden smartphone, but also, she kept on following her all over the apartment like a cute puppy. A very drunk puppy!

She has been throwing a tantrum about him being out of line when he took her phone and hid it away from her.

"Remember we have an agreement that whoever is less drunk would be the voice of reason?" He's trying to make her remember in her drunken state, as he turned around the dining table. Jess was right on his back.

"As the voice of reason between the two of us right now, I refused to give you, your phone to give Noah a booty call."

"I'm not going to give Noah a botty call." she stopped from following him, standing in the middle of the dining area, "I'm just going to accept his dinner invitation." she grinned, shaking her finger in front of her face.

"That's exactly what I am avoiding! You need to accept his invitation when you are not under the influence of alcohol," he copied her, shaking his finger in front of her face.

She grabbed his hand, bit his finger, and asked him, arrogantly, "Do you know who I am?"

"No. But I know that you are terribly drunk!"
