"Antonio, are you planning to kill me?" he slammed the fountain pen he was using into his mahogany desk.
Noah glanced across the mountain of paperwork he has to go through and sign on his office table, and couldn't help but sigh.
"Sir, if you want free time from work for Miss Lucille's vacation, we have to clear them by the end of this week."
"Thank you for reminding me," he said with a sneer. Hearing the name of his daughter, he picked up the pen and slowly go through all the documents once again.
It would be the first time his daughter would be staying with him without her mother since the divorce. He is excited and grateful that finally, he could spend time with his daughter longer than the usual weekend visits.
Those weekend visits sometimes even cut short because of work, hence, he was working his ass off to finish a big chunk of his work ahead of schedule to spend more time with his daughter.
Two weeks were too short, but it is better than nothing. And the fact that his ex-wife agreed to it. He can't be grateful enough. He looked up at the photo frame that was sitting at the end of his table.
It was a picture of him and his daughter with the Eiffel Tower in the background. He now remembered why the photo of an alleyway on Jess' photo wall in her living room looks familiar.
He is basically staring at the same spot of that photo on his desk every day. He remembered finding that hidden alleyway as he got lost with Lucille while trying to find the gelato store his daughter wanted to try.
"Antonio, have you got the information about Mr. Miller?" he suddenly remembered that he had asked his secretary to run a background check on him.
"I had email them to you."
"Read them to me, as I still have to sign these," he indicated the papers on his desk that doesn't seem to end.
"Uhm, we didn't find anything new from the result of Mr. Miller's information from the background check the HR did for his application. Parents are both high school teachers in Ohio. Mr. Miller has two younger sisters..."
He knitted his eyebrow listening to Antonio's report regarding Oliver. He dislikes the way he has been being so overly touching towards Jess. He saw her interact with Luke, and they don't seem like they are being clingy to each other, not like Oliver was with her.
"The fact that Mr. Oliver has two younger sisters and Miss Zimmerman has no older brother must be the reason why she was quite close with Mr. Oliver."
Noah lifted his head from the paper he was signing to look at Antonion who seemed to read what he was thinking.
"Do you think so?" he asked with uneasiness.
"If you would ask for my opinion, I would say, yes," he answered Noah, keeping his tone and facial expression neutral, however, he is really wondering why his boss is so invested with Miss Zimmerman.
Noah had a lot of women after his wife divorced him. But never did his boss spend time checking information about the person that caught his interest, yet not really doing anything.
With the other women in the past, Noah would just take them to some expensive restaurant, buy the woman some diamond, play for few days, then the woman disappeared. The process would repeat with the next woman that would catch his interest.
However, with Miss Zimmerman, his boss has been acting like a teenager on his first crush.
"Boss, do you have an Instagram?"
Noah knew that Antonio called him boss whenever he has something to say that is out of the boundaries of work.
"Do I look like someone that would use Instagram in my free time?" he answered, annoyed.
I was just wondering if you would like to use one since Miss Zimmerman has one and she posts a lot of photos."
"How do you know that Jess posts a lot of photos on this Instagram?" he put down his pen and narrowed his eyes at Antonio.
"We are following each other," he told his boss. He swallowed the grin that was about to escape his lips when he saw the interest in Noah's eyes.
"Follow?" he knitted his eyebrows, "How does it work?"
Before Antonio could answer he opened his palm in front of him.
"Show me how it works," he demanded.
Antonio stood from his table and went next to Noah to show him how Instagram works. He showed him his account and then opened Miss Zimmerman's Instagram account with more than three hundred photos posted, and with more than twenty thousand followers.
"What are these followers?" he asked irritated.
"These are the people that follow her account. I am one of them."
Noah grabbed his secretary's phone and scrolled Jess' Instagram account. Just like the photo wall in her house, there are a lot of photos of seemingly random empty streets.
She has a lot of pictures of her face too. He noticed that most of the photos were pictures of her being on a vacation. There is no indication of her every life… or not.
He was staring at the photo that was posted yesterday. He clenched his jaws seeing the photo of the familiar boat.
He doesn't have to see the whole boat to know that it was Stefan's boat!
The photo showing Jess in a skin tone bikini, lying facedown on a white and blue striped beach towel. She was reading a book with a glass of wine next to her.
He squinted his eyes on the photo of Jess that gives the illusion that she was naked because of the color of her swimsuit!
"You can zoom in the photo if you want." he leaned forward to teach Noah how to zoom in the photo when he shoved his phone back his hands.
"Unfollow her!"
Antonio gave Noah a puzzled look.
"I said, unfollow her!" he said gritting his teeth. "And find me, Stefan!"
