Chapter 52 - Thank You Kiss

From gazing outside the window as Noah drove to an unknown location, they reached an unpaved road where the SUV rocked as he went forward to a dirt road. She knew that they were near a sea for she could inhale the saltiness of the ocean in the air.

But she can't see the sea from the dirt road. It seemed like they are in a lower location because trees are towering over them.

Noah closed the window as the dust started to enter the car. She actually didn't mind the dusty road, however, this is not her car. So, she kept her mouth shut. She just watched Noah's sharp jawline as he concentrated on driving.

"Baby, stop staring. I'm melting," he chuckled.

She blushed that she was caught staring, and her heart jumped out of her chest when he heard what he called her. 'Baby -- why is he calling her baby?' She swallowed the delightful smile that was about to form on her lips.

'Stop it, Jessica Joy.' she screamed at herself in her mind. 'You can't fall with every sweet word that comes out of his mouth.'

"Put on your shoes. We have to walk from here," he told her as he turned off the ignition. He shoved the car keys on his jeans pocket and went out of the car.

She was bending down, putting on her shoes when the passenger door opened and Noah's hand was in front of her. Ready to help her get out of the car. She wiggled her eyebrows as she narrowed her eyes on Noah.

He averted her eyes and just held her wrist as she stepped out of the vehicle. Her eyes were on Noah's unreadable face that she didn't see the small stone where she put her feet and she stumbled.

She gripped Noah shirt's to gain her balance. He on the other hand put his hand at the small of her back and draw her closer to him. His woody cologne mixed with his sweat assaulted her nose when she plastered on Noah's wide chest.

She loves his scent. It reminds her of a forest after a rain. She found herself like a police dog sniffing Noah as if she was checking some contraband. When she couldn't pinpoint exactly where in his body is that woody scent that she likes, she came up with the conclusion that Noah IS the contraband.

"Are you sniffing me?" he asked with a voice filled with laughter.

She blushed that once again she was caught acting like a pervert.

"You smell good," she said with a goofy smile to hide her embarrassment.

She was taken aback when Noah, grabbed her and put her under his armpit. "Smell away," he whispered on her ear, his lips grazing her jawline as he breathed those two words in her ears, - red from embarrassment.

She thought that's all he would do, but she was surprised when the tip of his nose ran the length of her neck, sniffing along the way, "Baby, you smell - delectable." he flicked his tongue on her collarbone like he was tasting her skin, making sure that he was correct in saying that she is delectable.

Her shoulder flinched when she felt his tongue on her skin. She pushed him away from her and walked ahead, shaking the collar of her shirt away from her skin, for she suddenly felt so hot. She wanted to remove her clothes to make her skin breathe for she felt feverish.

And she was sure it was not because of the temperature. She didn't dare looked back even when she heard Noah laughing behind her. She quickened her steps only to gasp when she reached the end of the dirt road.

The azure ocean, glistening from the afternoon sun welcomed her. "It's beautiful!" she gushed in amazement. She grew up on an island. She wasn't easily impressed with an ocean view. But this is wonderful.

When the sun hits the water surface it gives an illusion of tiny flakes of light scattered on top of the water.

She looked up at Noah who was standing casually behind her with his hands inside his jeans pockets, "The ocean looks like a vast blue diamond!"

A throaty laugh escaped Noah, he was amused to see Jess' excitement over the ocean. 'A blue diamond,' he thought.

"How did you know this place?" she asked. Her voice was still laced with disbelief. She returned her attention to the beautiful ocean, she inhaled the air, and just like that she felt like she was transported back home.

"I got lost."

He held the back of her elbow and led her under a shade of a tree. They found an exposed root and sat down. None of them talk as they gaze at the horizon, enjoying the beautiful view.

"Thank you," she said after a long stretch of silence.

"For what?"

"For taking me here. For not insisting to know the reason why I was in a bad mood."  She picked up some small stones next to her feet and threw them towards the sea.

"I still want to know why you were in a bad mood."

She became quiet again when she heard professor Boa's warning in her head.  The old professor was right. She will be an employee of ANAT Pharma and Co. Noah will be her boss. It's unethical.

Hearing Noah's interest in the reason for her bad mood, a small smile played at the corner of her lips. She wanted to vent out her frustration to him but how can she tell him that she was reprimanded by professor Boa because of the rumor about them on the campus.

"It was nothing. I'm happy now, and that's what matters. Thank you." She leaned on his side and gave his cheek a chaste kiss.

However, Noah has a different thing in mind. When her lips softly landed on his cheek, he pulled her arm towards him, tilted his face, and captured her lips for a real kiss!
