Chapter 68 - Stalking Is A Fair Game

Jess was gripping the steering wheel too tight her hands turned white. She drove for about fifteen minutes before she lost it! She took the car to a parking lot of a grocery store.

"I just can't believe it!" she was huffing and puffing. "Do you really have to open your mouth about Noah with Jace and Sienna?"

"I'm sorry. I have no idea that they would take it too seriously. Especially Siena."

She sighed and ran her fingers over her hair. "Sorry. I'm not really angry at you, or with them. I was just so annoyed." She buried her fingers in her hair, "Ugh!"

He just let Jess rumble on her own. He knew from experience that Jess just needed to speak out what's on her mind to get over her annoyance. He opened the car window on his side as he listened to Jess rambling. He would provide a one word answer if he was asked and basically that's it. After ten minutes, she was fine.

She heaved a deep breath and released the air that was trapped on her chest in a long sigh. "I'm sorry. Let's go to your apartment now." she gathered her hair in a bun, and started the car ignition.

"Jess, I have a question."

"Hmm?"

"Can you tell me about what Jace and Siena said about checking Noah's out?"

"You know how basically everything was on the internet nowadays." she started. "I had some information that I don't want people to know, so one time when we were all playing games and drunk. Siena made something that would alert her if those pieces of information were accessed." She stopped because it was a red light. She glanced over her shoulder to see if Luke was still listening.

"I almost forgot about what Siena did, mostly because I don't know how it actually works. I don't understand computer language, she and my friend - Ellise were the ones who were so into those things. Then, one time I got an alert from my phone saying someone accessed my information. I remember panicking because I was thinking my father did something stupid again. I asked Siena about it and they found out that the one who was checking about me was Noah - or someone from his end.

I was angry. I felt violated and that was the time I agreed to his invitation for a dinner date. I wanted to know why he had me investigated. But, some shit happened that night and I wasn't able to ask him 'Losing my underwear in his hotel room', she grimaced with the memory."

"That's the reason why you knew that Noah was the CEO of ANAT Pharma and Co."

"Well, yes. But, he was not the CEO, or not yet the CEO. It's his father that is still holding that position. We didn't know that when Ellise asked Jace and Siena for a favor to check Noah. They couldn't do a thorough checking about him because they were scared that Noah would know. For, he most probably has some security measures about his information online too --

Jace and Siena had some…" she glanced over her shoulder and dropped her voice though it was just the two of them inside the car, "...did something questionable in the past. As they would say, peeking on people's shit online is easy as pie and sometimes addicting."

Noah was rendered speechless that there were a lot of things that happened that he had no idea about. He wasn't sure how he would feel about it. He wasn't mad, for he has no reason to be mad, yet he couldn't just let things go.

"Were you able to ask Noah for his reason why he did some checking on you?" his eyebrows starting to crease because he has a feeling that Jess would say something he wouldn't like.

"He said it was routinary background checking for those candidates who were considered for an internship for ANAT."

"So, I got investigated too. But, that was just how things work, right? I mean, big companies would do a background check on their employees or future employees."

"Yeah, I want to believe that it was like that too. But those information that Siena put some kind of hocus focus alarm or whatever that shit was, - were information that not particularly needed for my application for ANAT."

"May I know what information did Noah find out about you?"

Jess glanced over her shoulder, pouting, she said, "My favorite food, my father's dating scandal…"

"W-what? Are you kidding?"

"I dunno, okay?! That was what Siena said. I mean, as I've told you she was drunk when she did the program years ago. When she got the alert, she checked what information gave off an alarm and that was what she told me."

Luke guffawed on the passenger seat. He was roaring with laughter he got tears in his eyes.

"He could just follow you on Instagram or stalk your Facebook account for that! Why in the world would he spend time and money on things that he can easily find out on your social media account."

"Because he was stupid, that's why." She couldn't laugh with Noah because she has a feeling in her guts that Noah did more than just stalking. She couldn't shake the feeling that her background checked more than what Noah was trying to say. She didn't tell Luke about her doubt because she has no evidence and she doesn't want him to worry and be all over her case.

"My Instagram doesn't show a lot of things, right?" she suddenly felt worried about what was posted on her social media accounts.

"I think so. Next time I talk to Noah, I should teach him how to stalk people online." he was still laughing his ass off. He finds it hilariously funny that Noah had someone professionally check what her favorite food was.

"Stalking is bad."

"Aww, come on, Jess. Stalking online is something everyone does but just doesn't admit. Everyone stalks their ex or the ex of their current partner, or their Tinder dates." he smirked at Jess' innocence on how things work. "Little Miss Jessie, stalking online nowadays is a fair game."
