---

Noah gently closed the door of Jess's bedroom, scared to wake her up.

After his discussion in the library with Markus and Ellise, and after deciding to lower his pride to ensure Jess's safety, he let Ellise take care of Jess's security. And the first thing Ellise asked was Jess's computer.

When they all parted outside the library door, Markus walked Ellise to Dr. Sison's study while he headed to Jess's bedroom.

Jess has her computer at Dr. Sison's study, and since, the computer contained confidential information. Markus will watch Ellise as she puts some tracking device on Jess's computer.

He let Markus take care of Ellise because, after all the chaos and the threat to Jess's life that was still hanging, he just wanted to keep Jess within his sight. He wanted to be next to her all the time while he's here.

What Ellise said was true. There's no way in hell that Jess would agree to come back to the US with him and leave her internship.

She would not listen to him because she was too stubborn. At this point, fighting, no matter how petty, would be pointless. Hence, he agreed to Ellise idea of putting Jess under surveillance and with security twenty-four seven.

He made his way to the bathroom after successfully closing the door of Jess's bedroom without making a sound. He was glad that Aadir had already had his travel bag in the bathroom. He quickly took a shower because he couldn't wait to lie down next to Jess.

He needed to feel her skin. He needed to hear her soft breathing. He needed to feel her warmth for him to convince himself that she won't be taken away from him. That she would be fine. And they were going to be okay.

After his shower, wearing a black boxer, he stood in front of the bathroom mirror to call Samara and Jin. He needed to check how their flight was. His brain was too occupied with what happened to Jess, but he never forgot the fact that his daughter is on the way to his home in Palo Alto.

He couldn't wait to see her. And he hated the fact that he had to choose between the two most important women in his life. But then, Jess's life was in danger, he heaved a deep sigh when Jin finally answered his call.

"How's Lucille?" he asked first. Not giving much thought about pleasantries.

Jin moved the phone away from his face to his right and the image of Lucille, deeply asleep inside Samara's arm, put him at ease. A small smile tore his lips.

"Give me a call once you land in LAX. There will be additional security and can you keep Lucille in the house until I return?"

"Yes, boss." Jin cleared his throat and in a small voice, asked, "How's Little Miss Jessie?"

"She's fine. Take care of Lucille for me."

"Roger."

Noah, tired and worried but couldn't help but shook his head a little for Jess became everyone's Little Miss Jessie. He wondered how she would feel if she would know about it, he thought to himself as he walked out of the bathroom.

When he got to Jess's bed, she was still deeply asleep. He slowly lifted the end of the comforter and slowly slipped under the cover.

The moment his lower body hit the mattress, Jess grumbled in her sleep, he stopped moving, scared that he woke her up. When she didn't move anymore, he slowly eased his body down. Just as he laid his head on the pillow, Jess mumbled on her sleep and rolled over to his side, throwing her leg and her arm over his body.

He didn't dare to move and even hold his breath. He waited for her to settle down and to go back to sleep. When after a few minutes, she no longer murmured in her sleep, he released the breath that he was holding in and slowly caressed her arm.

When she didn't move, he became greedy. He buried his face on top of her head and gently nuzzled her hair. It was a mistake because she started scratching her nose. A clear indication that she was waking up.

He was cursing himself in his head when Jess looked up from his chest and with eyes half-closed, voice hoarse with sleepiness, she mumbled, "Noah?"

"Yes, baby. Sorry, I woke you up," he kissed her forehead and rubbed her back. "Go back to sleep." he whispered.

"Did you just finish your talk with Ellise?" she asked, pushing herself up to lay down on his chest.

Noah circled her arms around Jess lithe body and his hands, like they hand a mind of their own automatically caressed her back up and down in such slow gentle manner that made Jess sigh with pleasure.

"Yes, I just got back. I also just finished checking on Lucille," he rested his chin on top of her head and heaved a deep sigh. He misses this. Jess laying on top of him and his arms around her body, talking while waiting for sleep to take them over.

"How's that little Rugrat?" she mumbled against his chest.

"They are currently on their way, they will land in LAX around midday"—

She pushed herself up his chest to stare at his face. "What do you mean? Lucille is on her way to LA?!"

"Yes. Soraya and Jin are flying with her."

"Why? What happened? It's not yet school break," she tilted her chin up to have a better look on Noah's face. Hearing that Lucille is on her way to Noah's home and he is here with her, removed all the remnants of sleep from her head.

"Shhh, relax. Nothing bad happened," he chuckled. "Nicole had a once in a lifetime opportunity to continue her research in Switzerland and she thinks it would be best if Lucille will be staying with me for a while."

"That's good news!" she smiled broadly. She knew how Noah wanted to spend time with his daughter and she couldn't help but be happy for him.

"You aren't worried that Lucille will be home every time you think my bed is better than yours," he grinned, teasing.

"Silly," she clicked her tongue and nestled back to his chest. "I know how happy you are with Lucille staying with you....besides, you might find my bed better than yours," she giggled when Noah pushed her down.
