Chapter 10:Do You Have a Daughter ?

Mr. Yuan slowly walks on the alley. His hand holds tightly a bag that contains money and the broken envelope. When he arrives in front of directors room's door, he hesitates to open it. When he opens it, unexpectedly inside is a chaos. Employees are busy pry some drawers, checking under the tables and cupboards. Mr. Yuan becomes more hesitate.

"Eh, A Hong, why are you coming here ?" One of the employee accidentally sees him and asks. Mr. Yuan points at door of president's room. "Is Mr. Mao in the room ?" he asks instead answering the question. The employee waves his hand. "You better postpone your interest. It is not the best time. Mr. Mao is in the bad mood. We have been very busy since the morning because of it," the employee explains.

Mr. Yuan stuns a bit but then nods in understand. "Right, I will come later..," his words are cut by the opening of president's door followed by Mr. Mao asking, "A Du, have you found it yet ?" All employees stop and drop their heads. "Not.. not yet, Sir," A Du answers. Mr. Mao snorts in upset. "Try to find it one more time, okay. It must be here," he orders before returning to his room. It is when he sees Mr. Yuan.

At first, Mr. Yuan only stands still, but then his feet initiatively move approaching Mr. Mao. "Sir," he whispers. Mr. Mao turns to him. "What do you want ?" asks Mr. Mao in upset tone.

"I.. yesterday I found this at the rest room," Mr. Yuan fearfully hands over the bag in his hand, "It might belong to you, Sir." Mr. Mao receives the bag and opens it. At a sudden his face becomes bright and takes the broken envelope from the bag. "This is it. It is found!!" he says excitedly. All employees in relieved while Mr. Yuan is still in awe. Mr. Mao pats Mr. Yuan's shoulder. "Thank you so much. Come, let's come to my room," Mr. Mao guides Mr. Yuan's steps to his room.

Mr. Yuan steps fearfully into the big room that well-decorated while Mr. Mao is already behind his desk. "Come, come.. don't be hesitated. Come and sit," Mr. Mao tells him while points to one of chairs in front of him. Mr. Yuan obeys and sits. Mr. Mao stares at him with a bright smile. He then takes a cigar and lights it up.

"You know," Mr. Mao saying is disrupted by the smoke that comes from his mouth. "I'm so proud. Turns out this company still has an employee like you," he once again hangs his sentence, glances on Mr. Yuan's tag name, and continues, "Yuan Li Hong." Mr. Yuan looks at him then bows, "Thank you, Sir."

Mr. Mao smiles. He takes the bag and pulls out its contents. "Actually, the money is not what I concerned. But this," he says while points on the big brown broken envelope. "It is worth billion," Mr. Mao's explanation makes Mr. Yuan stares at him in disbelief. Mr. Mao grins before he continues, "I was in a hurry yesterday, so I wrote negotiation notes with sponsor here. It might because of my age, I must forget to bring it out from the rest room."

Mr. Yuan nods. "It's true. I found it beside a washbowl," he says. Mr. Mao chuckles then closely stares at Mr. Yuan.

"Then.. how should I thank you ?" Mr. Mao asks, to him self to be exact, but that makes Mr. Yuan nervous. "No, you don't need to, Sir. It is my obligation. If yesterday i didn't find it, it means i didn't do my job well," Mr. Yuan gives his reasoning. Mr. Mao nods in agreement. "You really are a good man, A Hong," he says with smile.
