Chapter 220 - Black and Blue

Arth turned his draconic head and let out a satisfied huff.

He really did like his color scheme. Black as night. Intimidating and scary.

However, it felt very weird to become a dragon. Every movement he made seemed to be alien and unusual.

His arms felt like legs and his legs felt like they were malformed. He had three points where he felt things he had never felt before.

His wings and tail.

He shuddered slightly, causing his scales to glimmer like stars in the night sky. For some reason, Arth couldn't keep his tail in check. It kept on swaying back and forth, knocking down some trees.

Arth felt powerful, and yet vulnerable. He had no idea how to move, fight, and act like a dragon.

Remember the books, Arth growled to himself.

Remember, Behaviors of Dragons and their Habits.

Errr, how was he supposed to fight using that?

Arth hesitated before narrowing his eyes at the Alaskan Sapphire, who was staring right back at him in surprise.

Whatever, he would learn as the fight went on.

"I didn't know that you were a dragon. Did you disguise yourself? No matter, let's get to the point. Are you here to challenge me?"

For some reason, Arth could understand her.

Even though he heard the distinctive growls of a dragon, his mind automatically translated the growls to words.

"Challenge? Oh um, yeah, I suppose so."

Arth frowned inwardly.

Did the dragon know about the first task? We're dragons more intellectual than we thought?

The Alaskan Sapphire let out a humph before standing up on its two feet.

"Being hesitant with your words is a sign of weakness. Show a little more backbone. if you wanna win, then prove your strength."

Arth was now very confused.

"My name is Saphira, Saphira of the Frozen Land. What is yours?"

Arth was about to reply when a spark lit up in his head.

". . . . Noct, Noct of the Night Sky."

Saphira analyzed Arth for a bit before nodding her head approvingly.

"It is a suiting name."

"Thank you."

Saphira yawned before stretching her neck.

"Well then youngling. Let us get started."

It was at this moment, Arth realized how scary Saphira was.

Surprised, Arth attempted to dodge only to be grabbed by her claws.

A burning hot feeling dig deep into his side as Arth let out a growl of pain.

Her nails were sharp.

Arth attempted to shake her off, however, slipped and fell over to his side.

Saphira, seizing the chance, once again lunged forward in an attempt to bite his neck. This time, Arth failed to dodge and roared as jagged teeth tore into his neck.

With the d.e.s.i.r.e to get Saphira off taking over his mind, Arth kicked Saphira in the underside with all he had causing her to let go and retreat.

Gasping for air, Arth got up to his feet.

"You fight like a hatchling that was just born, when was the last time you returned to your original form?"

Arth felt the blood drip down from his neck and sides and couldn't help but feel frustrated.

It was obvious who was going to lose, him. He had neither the experience nor the dexterity to fight in this body. He was eventually going to die.

"If you want, I can give you a chance to flee. Come back when you are stronger."

"Can I have the golden egg in your nest then? I swear it's a fake-"

"Impudent fool!"

Apparently, Arth had offended Saphira greatly as now she glared at him with burning anger.

"It seems that you mock my grace, so be it. I shall not be as lenient this time."

Arth wanted to sigh.

He really had to go and turn into a dragon? Why not just curse the dragon's eye? And grab the egg?

It was too late now for regrets, he was sure that if he turned back into a human, he would be shown no mercy.

There were flashes of blood and scales as Black and Blue tore at each other, making it seem as the Night Sky And Frozen Wastelands we're fighting.
