Shao Xuan told Lei and Tuo that, the person who had been paying attention to them during the clash was probably the traitor of Flaming Horns tribe, Dao Yu. Lei and Tuo both thought that if only they knew at that time, they would have directly rushed to kill him.
“No wonder I felt that the man gave me the creeps.” Tuo said.
“If only I had snapped off his neck earlier.” Lei expressed his regrets.
Nevertheless, they also understood that under that circumstance, they had little chance to rush at Dao Yu, let alone kill him on the spot. Moreover, Shao Xuan sensed that Dao Yu’s strength was not weaker than that of theirs, and he might even be able to compete with senior totem warriors. Therefore, their chances of winning wouldn’t have been high even if they had a one-on-one duel. Besides, Dao Yu was surrounded by the people of White Stone City – so, a group attack by the three wouldn’t have succeeded.
After careful analysis, Lei and Tuo were quite confused. This traitor of the Flaming Horns tribe was too troublesome to handle as he was stronger than them. But if they let him go, then how could they face the Shaman and the Chief when they go back?
During a break, Shao Xuan asked Chi Shi and received confirmation that the man standing on the Mount of White Stone Lord was indeed Dao Yu, so he asked Lei and Tuo to be careful.
Unlike those natives of the Flaming Horns tribe, Dao Yu, who started as a wanderer, could now hang out with a Great Slave Master, he must have a lot more to him compared to those from the Fallen Leaves City. If they don’t act with caution, they would share the same fate as Yan Zhi.
The farther they went, the more snow-covered areas they found, Shao Xuan could feel a pressure – ordinary people might be unable to stay safe in this place.
“At last!” Su Gu exclaimed excitedly.
They arrived at Fallen Leaves City’s base in Beast Battle Desert.
The base was surrounded by stone walls which was nearly ten meters high, while many stone houses were distributed inside it – the Slave Masters lived here – there were also some small sand houses and simple tents around those stone houses, and these housed the slaves.
Shao Xuan, Lei and Tuo got settled in a stone house with Su Gu – who, by then, enslaved more than a dozen slaves. These slaves were also brought into the stone house to serve Su Gu.
This was just a stronghold in Beast Battle Desert for the Fallen Leaves City, even then, the stone houses in it were elaborately built. In the center of the base, there was a double-decked stone house more than ten meters high; it was built with many whole blocks of stone, and all those stones were several meters wide. This was the Lord’s residence, naturally it wasn’t shabby. If the Fallen Leaves Lord lived in a small ordinary stone house, people in other cities would jeer at them.
It was rare for Chacha to have such a good time, so Shao Xuan just let it be. As the Hui tribesmen said, the growth of Giant Mountain Eagle is always accompanied by a variety of challenges. Besides, Chacha was smart and knew how to measure its chances of victory – if it can’t compete with the enemy, it will run away; so Shao Xuan was at ease about it.
Shao Xuan’s room was not far from Su Gu’s. Because of the recent events which helped improve his enslavement ability, Su Gu trusted Shao Xuan, but whether his trust was sincere or not, no one could tell. For the time being, the cooperation between the two sides was still smooth.
“How do you like it here?” Su Gu asked Shao Xuan and the other two.
“Not bad.” Shao Xuan replied.
Some people may not be used to such cold, but natives of the Flaming Horns tribe didn’t care about that.
Seeing that Shao Xuan and the other two were in good condition, Su Gu was sure that they really didn’t mind the temperature, so he said happily, “That’s great. Let’s go out and take a walk. I haven’t been here for ages, I almost forgot what Beast Battle City looked like, it may have changed a lot by now.”
Su Gu was most impressed by Beast Battle City’s primitive violence and the continuous bloodshed scenes; and the unspoken proclamation that, here, ‘Strength decides EVERYTHING’ – thinking of all this, his blood started boiling.
When hearing that they could visit Beast Battle City of the Slave Masters, Shao Xuan and the two were also heartened.
Both Lei and Tuo looked at Shao Xuan expectantly, so he nodded to Su Gu and said, “Thank you so much, third young master.”
Shao Xuan knew that, with their identity as tribesmen, they wouldn’t be allowed to enter the city, so they needed the help of Su Gu’s identity.
Fallen Leaves Lord was either not too strict with Su Gu’s whereabouts, or he preferred to see Su Gu get in contact with those young masters of other cities, which was also a method to broaden his horizons and develop interpersonal relationships through communication.
With several slaves and several senior slave guards like Wu Shi, sent by Fallen Leaves Lord, in tow, Su Gu rode to Beast Battle City on a domesticated beast.
In the world of Slave Masters, identity was a very important element. Slaves were regarded as dust, and those Slave Masters with slightly lower status may also not get much attention.
Su Gu actually took good care of his partners. He brought Mounts for Shao Xuan’s group – since camels cannot handle such a cold environment, they could only ride those fighting beasts. He also kept telling others that these three people were not slaves.
Beast Battle City was not far from the stronghold of Fallen Leaves City, and the guards of Beast Battle City paid little attention to them after checking their identities at the gate.
“Whose men are the guards in the city?” Shao Xuan asked.
“Most of them are people from Rock Hill, Flame Mound and Snowfield, which are the three biggest cities in the desert. Beast Battle City was also built by them.” Su Gu said.
Shao Xuan had already learned from Su Gu about the three authoritative cities in the desert before; as the environment around them became much more chaotic, Shao Xuan stopped asking questions and focused on observing the surroundings.
There was a high venue crouching like a huge beast in the middle of the city, it was the symbol of this city – the Colosseum. However, it was only opened when the Lords of the cities were present, as for those small fights among Slave Masters, they weren’t entertained here.
There was a stench of blood in the air, part of it was from fresh blood that must have spilled moments ago, the other part of it coming from old blood that must have been absorbed by the soil and became part of it. Perhaps this could be considered as the original smell of this city.
Su Gu took a deep breath and sighed, “What memorable days…”
Just then, several figures rushed past Shao Xuan and nearly bumped against the slaves who were beside him.
Shao Xuan noticed that those men were riding Gerbils as tall as a person and moved really fast. He wondered which city they came from.
“Quick! Rock Hill and Flame Mound are fighting now!” Someone shouted.
“Wait, I’ll come too!” Someone else hurriedly followed up.
At first Su Gu was irritated by the actions of those people. But when he heard their words, his anger immediately dispersed.
