The sight of the approving crowd and the sound of their cheers were too much for Jean. Her eyes started welling up until her vision blurred. She was about to burst into tears. She turned to run away before anyone could see her.
Just at that time, someone grabbed her hand and stopped her.
Through blurry eyes Jean saw Eva's angry face, which scared her a little.
Jean struggled to get out of her grasp. She didn't want to deal with anyone right now, with her heart being shattered into thousands of pieces.
"Why the hell do you want to run away? Jean Wen, are you a fool? Zed is your husband. You are Mrs. Qi! You are the only one who is in the position to stand beside him, feeding him that stupid kebab, not that snake, Jesse!" Eva was now holding both of Jean's wrists and looking at her with her angry eyes. Seeing Jean just cry and run away, without fighting back made her more than a little upset.
Just moments ago, Eva had warned Jean to be around Zed all the time.
But this little weakling turned a deaf ear to her warning. As expected, Jesse caught the opportunity to shove herself close to Zed. Now the actual legal wife, without any fighting spirit could do nothing but watch and cry to herself.
Eva scoffed, "Pathetic! Jean, you are such a soft girl that even weird girls like Jesse can take advantage of you. Obviously, it's no use crying over it now."
"Eva, please stop saying that." With tears streaming down her face, Jean shook her head and said, "I don't have the strength to walk over there, pretending that I don't care about their intimate behavior. I don't think I can do that."
Jean was devastated, like a beaten dog.
Right now, the only thing she wanted to do was find a private place to lick her wounds.
"Jean Wen, I knew that I could turn you into a failure, but didn't expect that you could be such a HUGE failure, " Eva stressed on the word 'huge'. "And you seem to have forgotten, that you're the rightful Mrs. Qi. As for other women, no matter how beautiful or noble they are, if they covet your husband, people know that it's totally inappropriate. What's more, for the 100th time..." Eva rolled her eyes. "... it is an indisputable fact that you are Zed's lawfully wedded wife. You have to stand up to defend your right, or other women will walk all over you. Is that what you want?"
Eva continued through gritted teeth, "Do you still not know what ki
When her boyfriend betrayed her, all light and joy was gone from Cherry’s life. Deserted, bereft of hope, she married a man that she had barely met, but she had never expected him to be her ex-boyfriend’s uncle.
Cherry thought that she had finally found her happiness, but she had no idea about the dark secrets that were bound to unfold and haunt her forever...
r calming herself down, Jean looked at Eva.
Eva was different from how she knew her originally.
'Am I starting to hallucinate because of my sadness?' thought Jean.
Seeing Jean glaring at her, Eva sighed and asked, "Don't you believe my words? You feel weird that I'm actually helping you, right?"
Jean felt embarrassed and nodded her head.
"Yeah. It is understandable for you to have that feeling. But I think you are the one who should be blamed for my arrogance and relentlessness before." Eva forced a smile as she explained.
"I should be blamed?"
Jean felt even more doubtful.
"That's right. In fact, I didn't expect that you were so foolish as to agree to fix me up with your own husband. How stupid was that? I've actually been meaning to win Zed's affection. So when you agreed to help me, I decided to make good use of it. But I've failed every time. To be honest, it was very hard for me because I had to wallow in failure all by myself. And I got so mad at you that every time I saw you, I wanted to take advantage of you." Eva continued.
Hearing what Eva had said, Jean felt a little anger start to well up in her chest.
'What an evil woman. How could she take the advantage of my kindness?' thought Jean.
"I know I went too far in the past. But don't worry. I regret all the bad things I had done to you and I won't do anything to harm you anymore." Eva sighed as she promised, "I have no choice but to cooperate with you and give up Zed now. I am sure I won't stand a chance against Jesse. She is so strong that I am afraid she will do some serious damage to me."
