Jean sat on the bed with a hard look on her face. "We don't need so much money, Zed. Besides, you have earned enough money for our family." She then placed a hand on her belly, making sure that Zed understood that it wasn't just for the both of them.
Zed noticed and gave her a bitter smile before replying. "Jean, if I don't go to the company to work and just stay at home with you all day long, will you be happy about that? Do you really want me to do that? I guess not, so let's just move on from this topic, okay?"
Jean fell silent. She found herself lost into thought after hearing what Zed had said. After a short while, she looked at Zed and said with a smile, "Zed, don't get me wrong. I'm not against you working. I just don't want you to be so exhausted. Do you understand? I hope that you can have more time to rest. Don't be so engrossed with work all day long that you don't even have time to rest nowadays."
After dressing up neatly, Zed then walked up to Jean and sighed. "I understand, honey. I will try to spare as much time as possible to rest and to accompany you in the future. I promise. Plus, the company is now on the right track. Everyone is doing their jobs well, so I don't have to do many things myself.
Moreover, if I have enough time to spend in doing my job well these days, then for sure, I'll have time to accompany you to the Imperial Capital."
Knowing that Zed was so considerate, Jean smiled with relief. She shrugged this topic away and placed her arms around Zed's neck. "Take me to the bathroom to wash up, please."
"No problem." Zed petted Jean's nose before striding into the bathroom while carrying her in his arms.
As they reached the bathroom, Zed slowly put her down and gently squeezed the toothpaste for her before going out.
Hearing the slight noise coming from the bathroom, a happy smile appeared on Zed's face.
He actually felt moved a lot when Jean told him not to work so hard this morning.
It even made him feel a little bit surprised knowing that Jean cared more about him than earning money.
A lot of women nowadays would want the men to work as hard as possible and earn more money, so that they could spend a lot of money buying expensive cosmetics, beautiful dresses, and other luxuries.
However, Jean was different from those superficial women. She knew that it was never easy to earn money.
She?had never struck Zed as the extravagant type, ever since they got married. Moreover, she didn't go shopping frequently even though she enjoyed shopping. She had the right ideas about money management.
At first, Zed was surprised at his thought, but a while later, he understood why Jean was not like most women.
A woman, who loved her husband dearly, would not be extravagant and spend her husband's money freely and carelessly.
It must also have something to do with the environment in which Jean grew up. She was used to saving money and that she wasn't in t
Drugged one night by her ex-boyfriend, a mysterious man took advantage of her in an ecstatic night filled with sex. To take her revenge, she married the man, and used him. "As long as I'm alive, I'm still his legal wife, while all of you are just his mistresses.”She remained adamant even when he was involved in scandals with other women...
going on with her as well that I should know of?" She complained, feeling a surge of anger.
"Don't blame her. She meant to tell you, but I stopped her," Zed explained.
Jean glared at Zed. "You stopped her? Why did you do that?"
"I was worried that you wouldn't accept it. I did it all for your own good," Zed replied with his lips curled into a bitter smile.
"But, I don't want you to hide the truth from me! Do you understand?" Jean shouted out with anger and despair before she turned away and sat there silently fuming with her arms crossed on her chest.
Zed had no other choice but to sigh helplessly.
He had already known that he couldn't hide the truth from Jean when she mentioned Calvin last night.
Then again, Zed noticed the anger on Jean, so he said, "I know. I admit that it's all my fault. I shouldn't have hidden the truth from you." He turned his body to face her and apologized, "I didn't mean to lie to you, baby. I was just really worried about you! Can you please forgive me now? I promise that I won't do this again!"
Without looking at him, Jean gave a snort of contempt and still kept silent.
Zed remembered how stubborn and firm Jean's attitude was, so he continued wooing her. With a weak smile on his face, he begged again, "Jean, forgive me, please. We can meet Calvin later. He'll make fun of me if he knows that we're at odds with each other because of him. I don't want to lose my face in front of him, baby!"
"Well, it serves you right!" Looking back at Zed, Jean finally spoke up, but she was still very mad. "You lied to me. It's your punishment."
"Yes, you are right. It serves me right, and I deserve this!" Zed hurriedly nodded his head and said. "I have never lied to you. It's the first time, so just forgive me this time, okay? You can do everything to punish me when we come back home. But now, since we're going to meet Calvin and he's my rival in love, could you please spare my feelings later?"
