Moore heard the voice and knew that it was a call from Jean. He politely excused himself to the person with him and walked away as he answered, "Great! I am bored to death! You don't know that all this morning I've been meeting people. In fact, I lost count of how many! Since people learned that I came back to the Bai family yesterday, there has been a long queue to meet me, but truth be told, they want to see my father. Father is away, precisely to avoid such meetings. But I..."
"Then get out quickly!" Before Moore could finish speaking, Jean interrupted him with a smile in her voice. "And do remember, I have saved you this time. Now you owe me one."
"No way! You invited me to have lunch. How come I owe you one?" Moore jokingly complained and laughed.
"You just remember that you owe me one. That's it. Come here quickly! I am starving!"
On the other end of the line, Jean was getting impatient.
"Haven't you had breakfast?" Moore asked with concern.
"No, I didn't have the appetite then, but now I'm hungry,"
replied Jean.
"Okay. You start eating. I'll be there soon." Moore ended the call and walked over to the middle-aged man he was supposed to be in a meeting with. With some hesitation, Moore said, "Mr. Li, I'm sorry. I have something urgent to do. Please excuse me."
"Okay. Please go ahead. I will leave as well," The man stood up and replied in a polite manner.
"Mr. Li, let's go out together." Moore invited him, feeling guilty for ditching him like this.
"Okay, sure." On their way to the car, Mr. Li asked Moore, "Mr. Moore, you don't have a girlfriend, do you? It seems like you are going to meet a girl."
"Why do you say that?" Moore asked, embarrassed.
"You just came back, so it can't be about business. Going by your impatient look, you must be meeting a girl. I wonder who she is, fortunate enough to be adored by you, Mr. Moore,"
The man asked unable to rein
Jean Wen sacrificed herself for family interests. Before her husband divorced her, she made every effort to please him.
"You are inexperienced in bed," he said coldly.
"You! Give that land to my family, or I won't agree to divorce," Jean replied furiously.
"Fine. It is exactly what I am thinking about," he sneered.
n, surprised and somewhat flattered.
"Okay, that's enough. I'll help myself. You go ahead!"
said Moore.
"Okay, let's eat first. After we finish, I have something to tell you," said Jean as she gave Moore a broad smile.
"What do you want to talk to me about?" Moore was curious. What would Jean want to talk to him about?
"Let's eat first, all right?" asked Jean.
Moore nodded and started to eat.
Soon, they finished eating lunch. Both then headed for a walk in the garden to eat fruits and enjoy the view.
"Jean, what is it?" asked Moore who couldn't hold his eagerness any longer.
Jean looked at him for a brief second and then asked in a friendly tone, "How are you getting used to your new life as part of the Bai family?"
"It's hard to say. Except grandpa and father, I rarely see Edna and Hanley. I only see them during meal time. They don't want to see me, of course. It's less embarrassing that we don't see each other often."
Moore sighed.
"Moore, if you feel embarrassed in the Bai family, you can go and help Zed in his company as soon as possible,"
Jean asked straightforwardly, without beating around the bush.
"What? Was something wrong?" Moore knew Jean. She wouldn't simply invite him to have lunch. There had to be something!
