"No, it's not what you think. Don't worry about it," Moore said, shaking his head.
He knew that Jean came to see him because she was worried about him.
He read what was on her mind and that was why he made up that story.
'Jean, you will never know how hard I tried to hide my true feelings for you.
However hard it is, I will do it for you willingly. The last thing I want is to make you feel sad for me.
So how could I ever let you know that I proposed to Avery to remove the possibility that you might know the truth?
Also to make it up to Avery for what she had suffered.
All the women in this world are all the same to me, except for you.
My persistence might seem ridiculous in someone else's eyes, but I can't help it. I have to continue with this facade and play my role.
I would feel satisfied and pleased to see you live happily together with Zed.
Since you care so much about my happiness, I will make your wish come true.'
"All right, you go back to Avery and I'll go check on Tina," she said, smiling.
She was satisfied within herself that what she was concerned about didn't exist. She felt greatly relieved and was in a much better mood.
Moore saw the happiness in Jean's eyes and to him it confirmed once again that his decision was the right one.
He smiled lightly and nodded to Jean. After waving goodbye to her, he headed back to the ward.
Jean watched Moore return back to Avery's room, then walked quickly to Tina's ward.
As soon as she entered Tina's room, she could see Zed and Juan chatting happily with Tina about something.
"Jean, there you are," greeted Tina cheerfully.
Tina looked refreshed and chirpy, a sharp contrast to what she was like yesterday. She was recovering well.
Her face had a healthy pink tone and her blue eyes were bright and sparkling.
With the nourishment of love, one could look so differently.
"What are you all chatting about? You all seem so excited about it," asked Jean as she came closer to the hospital bed
and gave Tina a peck on the cheek.
She didn't have to ask how she was. It was clear by her appearance that Tina was doing w
“Who does she think she is? I won’t marry her even if she is the last woman on earth,” said Hiram Rong.
“Marry into a family with tens of billions of assets? How lucky I am! I won’t be so foolish as to break off the engagement. At worst, I can receive money as part of the divorce settlement,” said Rachel Ruan.
Their great-grandfathers made a pact about their engagement a hundred years ago...
" she said sipping on some freshly squeezed juice. "I wonder what Moore, Avery, Juan, and Tina are doing at the hospital."
"Eat your meal and don't worry about them. I assure you, they are doing better than you are," Zed said helplessly.
"I know they are doing better than I am. They are all passionately in love. Even a hospital can be a nice place when you are in love,"
Jean joked.
Zed shook his head and asked, "Did you see Moore earlier?"
"Yes." A cheerful smile appeared on Jean's face. "I was so worried that Moore proposed to Avery on an impulse out of guilt. So I went to see him and planned to tell him to think it over when he had calmed down. However, he told me that after Avery had that incident, he realized that Avery is already in his heart. He cares for her and likes her."
"Moore likes Avery?" Zed asked astonished.
"Right! You think that's incredible, don't you? I was shocked too. But then I came to realize, that a man like Moore wouldn't make such a reckless decision just out of guilt and impulse. I believe he does like Avery."
Zed furrowed his brows when he heard this.
'Like?
What kind of feeling is that?
The kind of comfortable and relaxed feeling when you are with a friend?
Or the vague affection at the beginning of a relation?
Is it another excuse he fabricated to assure Jean?'
"What is it?" Jean asked after seeing no reaction from Zed after a long while.
